Volume 5 Chapter 23 The Souten Festival Begins

In the lecture room where the professor's usually boring voice echoes, students who are either sleeping or playing with their smartphones lazily pass the time. However, there is no trace of that now.

"Everyone, good job. In the end, we made it just in time, but the preparations are complete."

The voice of the club president resounds throughout the room.

The fatigue from before and the anticipation for the future mixed together, and the members of the club responded with cheers.

"Of course, this is where it starts. Listen up, our goal is to defeat the Manga Research Club. We will fight until the very end without letting up!"

At the same time as those words, an announcement from the Souten Festival Executive Committee rang out.

[From this moment on, we will begin the 57th Souten Festival. Let's do our best to make it a great three days for both the students and the guests.]

Immediately after, a thunderous cheer could be heard throughout the entire school.

Finally, our beloved Seijou University's major event, the Souten Festival, has begun.

These three days from now on are truly different from the usual school life. Except for the students who are busy with upcoming competitions and research, it's a festival no matter where you go.

It has been a long journey. I haven't had a break, from publishing the club magazine to applying for stalls and collecting coins. I also left behind the duties of being a student along with summer vacation.

 "It's finally starting!"

Lisha clenches her small fists and shows her enthusiasm.

Oh, do your best, do your best.

In the Literary Arts Club, she plays a very important role. That's because what we are doing this year is the "Taisho Literary Cafe." When you order one item, you can read not only this year's club magazine but also all the past ones at the cafe.

To be honest, the club magazine of the Literary Arts Club lacks impact. It's a world of difference compared to manga.

Even if we have confidence in the content, it's meaningless if people don't pick it up.

That's why the "Taisho Literary Cafe." As the name suggests, the club members, both male and female, wear Hakama.

Lisha is no exception, wearing a red and navy arrow pattern Hakama. Her hair is half-up with a big ribbon, giving off a Taisho-style vibe.

She seems to be in a good mood with her unusual clothes, lifting her sleeves and swaying her Hakama. How cute.

Who is this person? Why does Hakama suit her better than a pure Japanese person? It's like cheating.

"It's surprisingly easy to move in this outfit, isn't it?"

"Kanami looks good in it too."

Kanami, who usually has her hair gorgeously styled, laughed happily after tying it up into a single ponytail.

Kanami's Hakama, adorned with bright yellow flowers, was not overshadowed by her luxurious appearance. I was planning to rent them for the two of them, but Kagami-san prepared them for us.

Thanks to that, Kanami was happily modifying it, but I wonder what's inside it.

Could it be a missile? Will missiles come out or something?

While I was thinking about such things, Lisha looked up at me and said,

 "Yuusuke-san looks cool too."

 "Oh, really? Thanks."

I would like to say that I also look good in a Hakama, but that's not the case. No matter how easy it is to move, Hakama would get in the way for me. Unlike the girls who are used to wearing habits or dresses, I'm different.

That's why I'm wearing a gakuran with a cape, a fashionable outfit. Regardless of the Taisho style, the fact that I, a university student, am wearing a gakuran itself gives off a cosplay feeling.

Standing nearby are Souji and Matsuda, both wearing Hakama. Matsuda is thin and not very tall, so he looks like a real student. No, he's a student, so it's not completely wrong to call him a student.

Looking around the room, I could also see Hinata and Tsukiko. It's hard to see them clearly because people are overlapping, but I'm sure both of them were wearing Hakama.

In the end, I will meet with the two of them tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. Hinata tomorrow and Tsukiko the day after tomorrow.

I'm starting to sweat just thinking about what kind of conversation we would having.

"Yuusuke, did you have a shift from the beginning today?"

"Oh, yeah. That's right. The president asked me, Lisha, and Kanami to join."

 "You're starting strong."

 Matsuda laughs heartily.

 Absolutely.

Even without asking about the president's intentions, someone can tell. That person is serious about winning this Souten Festival....

 "Looking forward to it, Yuusuke-san!"

 "Same as me."

 And in many ways.

As we said so, the literary club members begin their respective tasks.

As a cafe, we also handle tea, coffee, and light meals. However, it is not possible to place a full-fledged cooking facility in this classroom, so food prepared in another kitchen is plated and sandwiched here with that process.

Backstage staff enter the divided cooking space, while other customer service staff scatter around the store.

Matsuda and Souji are in charge of public relations, so they leave with a few girls.

As I said earlier, Lisha, Kanami, and I are in charge of customer service.

Honestly, I've never done customer service before, but I'm confident that I can handle it with just life experience, even if I'm just a regular company employee. If I can use the power I've gained from interacting with people from other countries and even other worlds, this won't be a hindrance at all.

Even though Lisha and Kanami are beautiful, they are both celestial beings who are far from customer service. That's why the renowned hero, me, needs to support them.

 "Let's do our best, Yuusuke-san."

 "Yeah, leave it to me."

"I'm glad I'm on the backstage team...."

And so, the Souten Festival, with various schemes and intentions intertwined, began.
