Volume 5 Chapter 37 I Think The Reason Shooting Games Never Go Away Is Because People Like This Kind Of Thing

The recent cultural festival with Lisha was basically a foodie event, but today was quite different.

"Senpai, senpai, let's try shooting. I want that game."

"I've never seen anyone win at shooting before."

Hinata stopped in her tracks when she saw the shooting game, a staple of the festival. Hinata likes to check out anything that catches her eye, whether it be food or games. It's like window shopping.

Even though I think things like lotteries and shooting games are kind of rigged, we still play them because they're fun.

"You don't get it, senpai. This is a chance to become the first human in history to win."

"Now that you put it that way, I guess so."

"If it were me, I'd want to be the first to do something even better."

"Can you stop killing my motivation in two seconds?"

With great excitement, we paid for the game and received a air gun and seven cork bullets. The sound of cocking the gun was satisfying.

"Don't you think the nutrients you get from sword and magic are different from those you get from a gun?"

"What kind of reasoning is that? It doesn't make any sense."

 "Oh, okay..."

Maybe only boys can understand this feeling. Well, Kanami would probably nod happily. Ferger is so cool.

 "Ready?"

Hinata loaded the bullet, leaned over the counter, and stretched out her arm.

She aimed for the box in the upper level of the game. She really intended to win. The bullet was fired with a somewhat silly sound and hit the box as intended, but it just bounced off.

 Of course it did.

Hinata stood up and said seriously,

 "It's rigged."

"Why do you say that? And the shopkeeper is listening, so stop it."

If you think about it normally, with that weight, it wouldn't fall even without rigging.

"B—u—t, if it's a prize, it's weird if you can't win it. If it doesn't fall, it's against the Prize Display Act."

 "Hey, stop it, stop it."

 Don't say anything like that.

"If you can win, then why don't you try it, senpai?"

"I didn't say anything like that."

"Come on, hurry up. It's a chance to turn 500 yen into tens of times that amount."

If it were that easy to make money, no one would have any problems.

Since Hinata was being annoying, I reluctantly aimed for the game. However, even though the bullet hit, the box didn't budge. What is this feeling of despair? It's more impossible than defeating Lord.

 "See, it's impossible."

 "..."

Instead answering, Hinata silently shot down some snacks. Hey, this girl!

I also looked at the shelves to change my target. And then, I saw something. A small coin in a clear case.

Why is something like that here?

The magic coin sparkled in its cheap toy surroundings.

I shoot two or three times, but it doesn't fall. Maybe it's surprisingly heavy, including the clear case.

 "Mmm..."

I'm hesitant to bring cheats to a legitimate business, but this is also for the cultural festival and peace. I thought so and tried to activate magic when Hinata asked,

 "What do you want, Senpai?"

"Oh, yeah. I'm collecting them a bit."

"I guess I have no choice."

Hinata said as she loaded a bullet.

"Let's shoot together. It might fall if we hit it at the same time."

 "Is that okay?"

"Honestly, I don't have that many things I want."

 "But you're not risking much..."

I mean, it's a game to enjoy until you hit it.

 "On three."

I shoot at the same time following Hinata's voice. Hinata's bullet hit, but mine missed.

"What are you doing? Please take it seriously, Senpai."

 "Sorry."

We tried several times, but it didn't fall due to missing or mistiming. And it was the last shot for both of us.

"...You're annoying. Senpai, I'm seriously knock it down."

"It sounds different when Hinata says it."

"I'll punch you if you're joking."

 "Yes."

Hinata snuggles up close to me and the sweet scent of a girl tickles my nose. Seriously, I can't calm down. But her eyes were only focused on the coin.

 "On three."

To be honest, I subconsciously pulled the trigger rather than following her voice. The two bullets released hit the coin box at the same time, making it wobble. And it fell behind.

 "Yes!"

 "We did it!"

I unconsciously high-fived Hinata. Later, I realized that the tension had risen.

I tried to look away, but somehow I couldn't take my eyes off Hinata's smile. She then said with a smile on her face,

 "Finally, you looked over here."

I was about to say it wasn't true, but my words stopped. It may be true that I haven't seen her face properly since we met. Hinata took the prize coin and turned around.

"Well, it's okay. Shall we go to the next one?"

I didn't know what to say and just followed her back.
