Volume 5 Chapter 63 Biting Ash

Volume 5 Chapter 63 Biting Ash

 "Yuusuke!!"

 A piercing scream echoed.

Tsukiko had been watching the battle of Silver Hero——no, Yamamoto Yusuke——until now, dumbfounded.

All she could do was watch.

Perhaps because she would only be a hindrance if she stood there herself.

Or maybe because she was so shocked that she forgot to hold her spear.

Her thoughts had come to a halt to the point where she couldn't even tell.

She didn't understand. She didn't understand anything. Was Silver Hero Yuusuke? Asteris? Summoned to another world? A hero? A string of information continued to circulate endlessly.

However, six spears that would burn the world to ashes hit Yuusuke directly.

At that moment, her body moved.

She grabbed her fallen Kinrai thunder spear and tried to stand up.

 (I have to go.)

She didn't know what she could do. Nevertheless, her emotions moved her to go.

 "Wait."

But Sharla, dressed in black, stopped her.

As Yuusuke had instructed, she had been protecting Tsukiko and the others without moving from here. She had frozen everything with the chill of the hell, both the aftermath of terrible magic and physical impact.

"Get out of the way. I must help Yuusuke!!"

 "Unnecessary."

Sharla cut off Tsukiko's anger with just one word. Her eyes showed neither anxiety nor agitation. She simply watched it, even with a joy that seemed to cherish Yuusuke's battle.

 And she said again.

 "Yuusuke won't lose."

There was unshakeable trust and admiration in her words.

 "You..."

Tsukiko, who had become unable to say anything in response to that calmness, lifted her face as if following Sharla's gaze.

In the midst of the collision and the swelling flames, emerald light glimmered.

* * *

Vice Ornette, thank you for firing "Ego Iflelia (Destruction Fire Penetration)" for me.

Those who obtain an immense amount of magic power tend to rely on it. Attacks with high destructive power are seen as a clear threat by anyone. But if one thinks that the outcome of a battle is solely determined by the amount of magic power, it's a simplistic view.

If it were that straightforward, the human race would have long been wiped out by the demon race, and I wouldn't have had to learn techniques desperately.

Even with a composite magic system, if you get to see magic circles like these repeatedly, you can strike even with your eyes closed. Critical points in magic, shining like stars.

Now, I slashed through all of them in an instant, dismantling the flowing magic.

 "'Stella (Star Sword).'"

All the components that make up 'Ego Iflelia' scattered. The flames lost their form and turned back into magical dust.

 'No way, you...'

Vice' voice poured out, but it was too soon. The seven-color linked swords inherited from my master, its continuation bringing a storm as they connect the "Stella".

The technique I connect from 'Stella' is the most unique. It's a sword technique that can only be used in a particular situation.

It's a sword technique that uses 'Stella' to break down magic, in an unstable state with a lot of magic power floating around the surroundings, incorporating it before it mixes with the atmosphere using my magic power.

"'Let's go, Sign, this is the God and Demon War.'"

My jade magic draws spirals, and the magic, which now belonged to no one, gathered and transformed into a colossal form. If there's a limit to my personal output, I'll utilize your magical power.

 "'Eltonia (Dragon Sword).'"

The ferocious dragon tangled with the Battle Maiden and thrust its vengeful fangs. Magic power and magic power repelled each other, creating a deafening sound and blinding light.

 'Ugh, Silverrrrrr'

But it endured for a few seconds. Cracks appeared in 'Shin Aggis's body, and red light erupted from them. From here on, it's a race against time.

I need to destroy this entity faster than Vice can extract magic power from his soldiers for defense. So, I touched down and rushed forward.

 ''Cross Minerna (Mightforge Mastery)''

In an attempt to crush me, Vice moved. 'Shin Aggis' ignored the Eltonia and swung both arms down. A cross-shaped slash, where the blades of the sword and spear met, sent a red light trailing like flames from the cracks in the ash, raining down like a massive blade.

Such a reckless attack. But it's not about the size. So, I met it head-on, raising my sword.

 "'Muon (Zero Sword)''"

The dense rain of magic power enveloping the bastard sword completely nullified the power of 'Cross Minerna.'

But magic power isn't about output; it's about how you use it.

In the void where our powers had disappeared, I moved on to the next action. My downpour of magic power changed its course, transforming into a storm.

Toward the cracks on its fragile body.

 "'Mikatia (Storm Sword).'"

I struck with countless slashes in rapid succession. The emerald slashes found their way to the cracks that had spread all over 'Shin Aggis,' sending it crumbling.

Inside the falling ash cascade, I could see many people. They survived; it seems this level of fall wouldn't kill the Asteris human race, especially not the soldiers.

Then, I jumped straight up and arrived above 'Shin Aggis.'

 "Silver..."

Vice was standing on top of its helm. He had given up his 'Shin Aggis' and tried to confront me with his sword.

"Hero of the human race, the world's strongest man. I believe I know what you have accomplished. But I will kill you here for the sake of my master's safety, no matter the cost."

Vice manipulated his magic power. He had already used up most of his magic power and was near his limit just by standing. His will to kill me was clear, even if it meant using his own life, just as with his subordinates.

I don't know what's driving this man and Finn.

 "Spiritual Penetration Art."

Vice was trying to invoke his final spell with everything at stake. The spear of emotional fervor breaks through all obstacles.

But, I'm sorry. He had already lost his army, and the outcome was decided the moment we faced each other on this battlefield.

 "Ash──"

With a slashing motion, my red sword severed Vice, body, and words.

"My True Name──Flame Linker (Infinity Light)."

In front of the intense concentration and resolve that formed my crimson magic power, he was just too slow.

The spirit he was trying to manifest dissolved like a faint mist.

 "Finn-sama... I apologize."

Vice reached out into the empty air and was swallowed by the ash.

In time, even this ash will disappear.

In the end, he stood up to me alone. I won't acknowledge his values, but I'll remember that his spirit didn't deserve true condemnation.

The 'Dragarts' with a total of ten thousand people. Just as I decided from the start, I didn't slaughter them all.

 ...

 ...

 ...

At that moment, no one noticed that there was someone quietly holding their breath.
