Volume 6 Chapter 2 Nked Man

Volume 6 Chapter 2 Nked Man

Kushina dislikes Shikin. Well, as someone who has lived a proper life, there would be no one who is good at Shikin.

Without showing such thoughts on his face, Kushina looked up at Shikin.

Kushina knows that this action has no meaning whatsoever. Because Shikin is a true practitioner of "mind reading" rather than lip reading. Reading the thoughts of others, a supernatural power.

Although there may be limitations on targets and accuracy, for Kushina, who is a universal human being except for "Side Cost", it would only be a minor obstacle like glass.

"I never expected you to be here. What brings you here?"

Shikin answered nonchalantly to Kushina's question.

"I didn't come here on purpose. I was just come here after finishing my training and taking a nap."

 "I-I see..."

(I was stupid to expect a proper response just now.)

For now, Kushina redirected the conversation.

"I wasn't worried, I was thinking about what to do next."

 "After this?"

"Yeah, I acquired the magic of 'Meikai'. I finally reached the starting line."

Saying that, Shikin's eyes slightly opened.

"I see, so you obtained what the master desired. That's fortunate."

"Didn't you know? With your power, you should be able to easily grasp it."

 "I wasn't interested."

Kushina was speechless at the straightforward answer.

This difference in perception is something he will never be able to keep up with. Perhaps because he judged that it wasn't his responsibility, or maybe because he thought he could do anything.

For this man, the military exploits that Kushina boasted of were nothing more than a small achievement.

The reason this guy didn't move is simple. It's because no one told him to.

In reality, that judgment is correct. If he were to act openly, the situation would become chaotic and unpredictable, and there would be no strategy or foresight. It would undoubtedly be complete confusion.

 Shikin nodded.

"If that's the case, then I can also move."

 "Huh?"

"There should be a Hero on the other side. I was feeling the limits of my training as well. It's perfect timing."

"Wait, wait, wait. They are in the middle of the city. If you move around recklessly, the city won't be safe. That would go against their wishes."

Shikin will never lose if he goes out, but Silver is also more than strong enough. If Shikin starts a battle in the middle of the city without thinking, the damage would be immeasurable.

If that happens, all the hardships Kushina have quietly endured so far will be in vain.

"Oh, so you still think that even though I'm going out."

That voice was not filled with anger, but with curiosity.

At the same time, Shikin's eyes peered into Kushina. A gaze that seemed to penetrate to the depths of his heart.

 "——!"

 Mind reading.

And it's not just reading the thoughts, but also the memories related to Silver that were evoked by words are being seen.

It lasted for a few seconds, or maybe tens of seconds. Shikin closed his eyes, and Kushina broke out in a sweat all over his body.

"I see, a hero from another world. It's hard to believe, but his strength seems genuine."

"...I don't want to hear you say it's hard to believe."

Certainly, Silver is a monster that lives outside common sense.

 But Shikin surpasses that.

If the impact on the surroundings didn't considered, he is the perfect existence to bury Silver.

"Then let's do this. Have the Hero come to me from over there."

 "Come to you? How?"

"There should still be someone lurking as a spy. We can use them somehow."

 "A spy...?"

Certainly, their organization has personnel deployed in various places, with Kushina as the leader.

But could there be a spy who can manipulate Silver and the others at will?

Thinking that far, Shikin understood who he was referring to.

 "No way."

In Kushina's sense, he was planning to move someone who was almost like a joker without much fuss. Probably, from Shikin's perspective, there wouldn't be much of a difference either.

Certainly, it would be possible with that method.

Because there are no restraints, they can proceed simply for their purpose.

"...Understood. What about the others? Should we inform them?"

"No need. They will come to know regardless."

 "I see."

The others are different from Shikin. Just by not being here, they should surely understand the situation.

And even if they knew about Shikin's movements, they wouldn't interfere. They should understand what would happen if they did that.

"It was a fruitful time. I look forward to the day we meet again."

Shikin left those words behind and suddenly disappeared from the scene. How many people in the world can leave this place by their own will, not by the will of the master of this space?

Forgetting that he was being watched, Kushina let out a breath. Just by having a conversation with Shikin, his mind was worn out and his virtual body was exhausted.

Was it okay to do this just for the purpose of eliminating Silver?

The world is about to become chaotic. He could only hope that he wouldn't be swept away by those rough waves.

* * *

 "Hmm... I'm back."

After parting with Kushina, Shikin woke up and stretched his body while sitting cross-legged. Naturally, he was still naked here.

He didn't really like that world. It's not bad to strongly feel the separation of consciousness, but the given virtual body feels like a mold.

That feeling itself is proof that he is still bound by his body and that he still needs more training.

Shikin stood up and remembered where he was now.

Under the sunlight, there were scales shining in rainbow colors, larger than humans. From a mouth that could swallow several cows at once, sword-like fangs peeked out, and eyes that had lost their light were looking up at the sky.

If a person saw this scene without knowing anything, they would surely collapse and fall to the ground. Or they might lose their recognition of reality and think it's a dream.

After all, it was a dragon.

A natural disaster. A mythical beast. Or perhaps a god.

A fantasy creature that is depicted as the pinnacle throughout history and across the world.

But the dragon was sleeping under Shikin's feet.

No, that expression would not be appropriate.

Shikin was standing on the head of the dragon, which had been torn off from its body.

Instead of blood, a clear stream of light flowed down the scales and was absorbed into the ground. Whether this would later nurture life or become a curse that pollutes the earth, Shikin didn't care.

He just want to challenge it and killed the dragon simply because he heard that it was there.

With his hands, he twisted the divinity that humans should not touch.

An unforgivable act of barbarism. An accomplishment that was never meant to be achieved.

Despite accomplishing this, Shikin looked down at his feet without much emotion. Even if he had at least eaten its flesh and sucked the blood, there would have been some meaning to killing it. After all, this was a conceptual body, not a real living creature. Even this head would disappear in a few moments.

When Shikin lost interest and jumped off the head, a sharp voice was heard.

"You! How dare you kill the Dragon God!"

 "What the-!"

There were two men and women standing there. They held spears and glared angrily at Shikin.

They were likely protectors who served this dragon. They felt a blood connection, probably siblings.

This was the Dragon God's waterfall basin that a village in the mountainous region of China had protected for generations.

In a country with a long history and many places untouched by human hands, such divinity can still exist in modern times.

Sometimes they are guardian deities, and in some cases, they are the vengeful spirits. It was likely the former for this village.

It is uncertain how Shikin appeared to them while being completely naked, but their spears were pointed at Shikin, trembling with anger.

It was only natural since he had taken away the object they were supposed to protect.

Despite knowing this, Shikin did not take a defensive stance and simply said,

"Don't rush. Everyone will meet their end. Until then, live peacefully."

"What are you babbling about after killing our god! Die, you sinner!"

The man shouted and closed in on Shikin with his spear.

His speed far surpassed that of an ordinary person, and the spear flickered with light. They were a clan that had protected ancient gods, the humans who had received the most mysterious blessings, so to speak.

With tremendous force, the spear was aimed at Shikin.

 "..."

In response, Shikin also raised his index finger and lightly pierced through it.

The outcome of the clash was decided before the protector had time to regret.

The index finger went straight through the tip and shaft of the spear and touched the man's chest.

With just a touch, a hole the size of an arm opened up.

And with a delayed sound, flesh and blood scattered behind the man.

 "What..."

The woman couldn't move. Shikin was a monster capable of killing their god. They had anticipated from the beginning that they might not be able to win.

But beyond that, Shikin was abnormal. In the face of it, their resolve was shattered.

Shikin approached the woman and gazed intently at her face and body.

"As expected of the protector of the Dragon God. You have undergone good training. If it were a little while ago, you would have been a perfect partner for dual cultivation."

 "Hah... haa..."

The woman repeated rough breaths. The fact that she couldn't do anything crushed her heart.

Eventually, Shikin turned his gaze away from the woman, as if he had lost interest, just like the dragon. If she wasn't going to fight, there was no longer any point in dealing with her. Shikin thought.

Now, after he left, he thought about the silver knight seen in Kushina's memories. If it was him, there would be no complaints as a true training partner.
