Chapter 5 The Disappointing Hero Laughs in His Heart

When asked about my complexion while pointing at my own face, Kunimitsu-kun shook his head.

 "Oh, no... It's normal."

"Is that so! I was surprised, but Kunimitsu-kun doesn't seem to be blushing!"

 "Is that so..."

"Yes, not only are you not blushing, but you're actually turning pale! If you look like that, I'll start worrying. After all, I came here because you told me to come, but it seems like I've been deceived! Hahaha!"

 "Haha..."

As I laughed with excitement, Kunimitsu-kun was lured into laughing as well, albeit with a forced smile. Little did he know, it was my trap.

 "Why are you laughing?"

I said with a completely serious expression.

 "Huh, um, well..."

"Did I say something funny just now? If you didn't expect me to come, that means you lied and called me here, right? I believed your words to come."

Well, it's a lie though. I don't believe it at all.

 "Ah, um, sorry."

 Kunimitsu-kun is momentarily taken aback.

Heh heh heh! What happened to your strong demeanor, Kunimitsu? I'm not a man who gives up here, you know? Hold yourself together, will ya? This might be the longest night of your fifty-year life, I think.

Guys like you, you're just pretending to reflect, aren't you? So I'll thoroughly crush you!

"For now, shall we talk at the park outside? Or should we do it inside the house?"

When I point inside the house, Kunimitsu-kun vigorously shakes his head.

 "Let's talk outside."

"Understood! You have your smartphone... in your hand, right? And I have a video recording of this conversation, you know?"

Upon seeing the smartphone in my hand, Kunimitsu-kun becomes even more agitated. It seems he didn't think of recording himself. The moment he tries to do something like that, I'll smash the phone with magic.

"...Um, I'll go. But I need to prepare a bit."

Somehow, Kunimitsu-kun tries to get through this situation. But I won't let him go back inside the house and make things complicated, so I won't allow that.

"No, you don't need any preparation, right? Oh, is it okay if you call the police? I don't know what crime it would be for coming here when they were told to come. I mean, I have screenshots saved too! Anyway, I'll just leave the door open for now!"

Anyway, I won't give him a chance to think until I lay the foundation. Kunimitsu-kun seems to have given up on my words.

"Yes... Ah, I'll be right out... Dad, Mom, I'll be right back."

Since Kunimitsu-kun went outside, I closed the door. As we went down the stairs together, I asked a question.

"By the way, how do you think I knew about this place?"

 "Well... um... I don't know."

"I'm a super hacker, you know! Hahaha"

Even though I laughed, Kunimitsu-kun stayed silent. Perhaps he's shrinking back from the "What are you laughing at?" from earlier. So, I corner him instead.

"Tsk... I'm telling you something interesting, so at least show some excitement. Can't you read the atmosphere?"

I grumbled in a low voice so that he could hear it.

 "Oh, really? Super hacker, amazing..."

Kunimitsu-kun forces a strained smile, clearly becoming emotionally unstable. Hahaha, how amusing.

"But Kunimitsu-kun, you're brave too, you know?"

I speak with a smile as we descends the stairs.

 "Huh...?"

"Don't you know? There was an incident where someone got into a fight in a game somewhere in America, drove non-stop from the East Coast to the West Coast, and ended up shooting the opponent!"

For a moment, Kunimitsu-kun's expression showed a hint of shock at the dangerous story, but he managed to respond somehow.

"...I think I've heard something like that, yes."

"Yet, even though you're calling me to come to Room 302, you're provoking me by saying 'Bring it on!' You're fearless, huh! But aren't you a bit too lacking in a sense of danger?"

 "Yes, you're right."

"Ah, don't worry, I don't have a gun, so rest assured!"

 "...Okay."

 "Well then, shall we go?"

With a bright voice, I urged him, and we left the apartment complex, going down the stairs together. As we tried to sit side by side on a bench in the park...

Kunimitsu-kun remained standing, hesitating to sit down. After a while... he suddenly prostrated himself in front of me.

 "I'm sorry!"

Seeing him like that, my heart felt rather cold.

I don't need your apology. You're just apologizing because you want to escape from this situation, right? Well, maybe a year ago, I might have forgiven you here.

What I'm doing now is no different from bullying the weak. I might have thought that he's no different from that.

But now, I understand. He'll show his true colors soon enough.

 ...

 ...

Back when I first arrived in another world, I think I had the average values of a Japanese person.

Following the goddess's instructions, I aimed to defeat the Demon Lord, while expressing my complaints.

When I arrived in a certain village, I was asked to exterminate a group of thieves that had made their base nearby.

After I defeated the thieves, they desperately begged for their lives. They explained to me that their village had been ravaged by monsters, and they had no choice but to turn to thievery. They pleaded with me, saying that if they were killed, their families would suffer.

So, I destroyed all their weapons and made them swear that they would never be thieves again. I even gave them some money, carelessly telling them to start a new business with it.

When I returned to the village, the villagers thanked me and even held a festival in my honor. Their lives were not easy, but they still sacrificed their valuable livestock and warmly welcomed me. They were kind-hearted people.

However, when I visited the village again some time later, I found that they had all been massacred. The thieves had used the money I gave them to buy weapons and attacked the village.

I found and tortured each and every one of them until they begged me to kill them, and then I slaughtered them all.

 ...

 ...

People will lie without hesitation and without feeling sorry if it means saving themselves in the moment. They pretend to feel remorse even when they don't truly think or feel that way.

And above all, this doesn't even compare. If it's just being teased about being a virgin, I might let it slide.

But, when confirming his [Crime], I bore Melina-san's despair. They loved drawing and were happily active, but this person crushed it with malice.

That's not all. This person did similar things in various places.

In other words, using the internet for bullying the weak. It may not go as far as a big crime, but undoubtedly, an offender.

So, should I tell this guy? About the feelings of those being bullied!

What I'm going to do from now on may not be commendable. No matter how I change my words, it's bullying the weak.

But, I am not unaware of that. At least there must be awareness of one's own malice. If that becomes unconscious, the brakes, like this person, won't work.

I experienced it thoroughly even in another world. Righteousness can easily be overwritten by power. That's why putting a brake on it requires greater power.

Parents who believe they are right and abuse their children because they love them. Nobles who mercilessly whip their subjects, believing it is for the sake of the country.

What is right can vary from person to person.

That's why I follow my own sense of right.

To those who oppress or betray others and make me angry, I will show them the consequences.

Let's say I forgive and leave this oblivious troublemaker at this level. He might behave for a while, but he will surely do it again. No, I must not leave any possibility for him to act again. I don't want to feel unpleasant later because I forgave and left him halfway!

 ──After a while, Kunimitsu-kun raised his head.

"Hey, why are you silent? I even kneeled down, so it should be fine if you forgive me, right!?"

As if his apology had some special value, Kunimitsu-kun expressed his dissatisfaction.

Thank you, Kunimitsu-kun. I really appreciate you coming with that attitude. But you're quick to turn things around, aren't you?

It's a shame, even though you went so far as to kneel down. But, for the sake of pushing scum to their limits, I can become as much of a scoundrel as needed.

I don't mind experiencing unpleasant feelings later, after all.

While observing Kunimitsu-kun who is unapologetic, I laughed inwardly.

Hello, we have a new project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and asks them to join the war. But what does the MC say? They refuse. Is it because their love was rejected by the princess when they adventured together in the past or are they simply fed up? And are the MC will join later?
