Only the lower half of the Demon King remained standing.
His upper body had vanished.
There was not a drop of blood, as if his upper body had simply been erased like a part of a painting.
"What the hell is this――?"
The being that had swallowed the Demon King's upper body just a moment ago was hovering about 10m above us.
Its form was indeterminate, resembling a black mist.
Then, the mist plunged downwards.
"Ugh...! "
I instinctively raised my Refaid Sword.
If it came at me, I would have no choice but to intercept it with a Shockwave.
I'm wearing multiple layers of protective items, but can they withstand that 'disappearance attack'?
But to my surprise, the 'black something' headed in a different direction, not towards me.
Towards the Demon King's lower half――
Zzzip!
The lower half was swallowed by the 'black something' and vanished in an instant.
"What the hell...?!"
Goldred groaned.
"The 'Black Demon King', who possesses magic defense close to invincibility... According to the 30-7 related documents I've read, Grandilis is said to be the strongest among the Seven Great Demons of that time and one of the most powerful in the history of Demons, and he was annihilated in just 2 blows...?!"
Apparently, he has enough time to squeeze some trivia into his lines even when he's panicking.

It's not that the Demon he created was incomplete and far weaker than the real one, right? Probably.
In fact, I feel that the Phoenix Blaze King is as strong as that Light Dragon King.
So, does that mean that the power of this 'black something' that killed the Demon King is overwhelming?

The Phoenix Blaze King unleashed a sonic Shockwave.
An invisible attack struck the "black thing" ―― Goldred called it an [Invader] ―― directly.
"...It didn't work?"
Goldred groaned again.
When the [Invader] was attacked, a part of its body caved in for a moment, but it soon returned to its original shape.
It looked like it took no damage at all.
"To think it's this bad..."
"What... is that...?"
I asked Goldred.
"It's called an [Invader]. A monster whose race and origin are all unknown."
Goldred explained.
"According to the documents I've researched, it seems to have existed since ancient times. Around the same time as the 'Relic Holder' existed. And it's trying to devour this world."
"Huh...?"
"It's the worst monster that devours and erases everything."
Goldred said with a bitter expression.
"As you can see, even the attacks of legendary monsters like the Phoenix Blaze King are nothing to it."
His face was pale.
"――I wanted to prepare a little more before dealing with it, but I never thought it would show up in a place like this. We'll be its prey too with this condition."
"We can't just be swallowed up in silence. Is there no plan?"
I asked Goldred.

"You know more about that [Invader] thing, right? Give me some information that could help us fight, Goldred."

Goldred grinned.
"You'd better just be devoured by the [Invader] here."
