Chapter 107 Dancing Angels
"Ms. Sara, come here."
Sara came to the warehouse-like storage room as called by Rebecca. Many of the practice swords had their blades dulled.
"Yeah, these two look good."
Rebecca picked out 2 wooden swords from the many placed in the corner of the room and handed them to Sara for practice. Both were only about the length of a short sword.
"I don't think you can handle a long sword yet, so let's start with 2 short swords for now."
"Yes."
When Sara held the two wooden swords, she noticed that they were slightly different in length and weight.
"Hold the heavier and slightly longer one in your dominant hand."
Suddenly, Sara recalled the gameplay of her past life. She remembered fighting with her seminar friends while drinking in college.
'Come to think of it, I used dual swords back then too.'
Sara held the two wooden swords in reverse grip, just like in the game.
"Oh, Ms. Sara prefers reverse grip? Hmm, I thought we'd start with basic swings in a normal grip, but your stance is surprisingly solid. Is this also a memory from your past life?"
"Maybe."
"I wonder if we should focus on developing this style. Let me ask Jeff for his opinion."
Rebecca rummaged through the storage room again and took out 2 metal short swords for reverse grip. These had special grip shapes.
After searching the storage room, Rebecca called out to Jeffrey in a loud voice.
"Jeff! Can you come here for a bit?"
"Okay."
Jeffrey ran to where Rebecca and Sara were and noticed the short swords in Sara's hands.
"Huh? Sara's a beginner, right?"
"Yes. Miss Rebecca chose these for me."
"Show me your stance."
Sara assumed the same reverse grip dual sword stance as before.
"That's a unique stance, but it's beautiful. It's a different kind of beauty from Revi's."
"I think Jeff agrees as me, don't you?"
Rebecca asked, and Jeffrey nodded.
"Sara, can you use body enhancement magic?"
"I've never used it before."
"Hmm. Just watch for a bit."
Jeffrey moved to a slightly distant location and activated a non-attribute body enhancement magic.
"Activate it by imagining your body being energized to its limits."
Unlike a certain someone, his hair color didn't change, nor did he gain a dazzling aura, but it was clear that his muscles had become more defined compared to earlier. He had a somewhat apocalyptic savior-like atmosphere, but his clothes didn't tear or anything. However, it was clear that his combat abilities had increased.
"Think you can do it?"
"I'll try."
Since Sara didn't want to be too muscular, she imagined a state where her physical strength was slightly increased and her agility was heightened. However, for some reason, she couldn't shake off the image of a certain someone, and a wavering aura like a heat haze appeared, enveloping Sara's body.
"Whoa, you've got an aura going on!"
"Sorry. It just came out on its own."
"You just let it out on its own...? An aura is something that only activates when you're close to the realm of a Sword Master."
"Haha...I wonder why that is."
Thinking that she might have put too much power into it, she re-imagined a more moderate body enhancement.
"Ah, it's gone. Can you control it freely?"
"I'm not really sure myself. This is my first time, after all."
"Your first time, and you can do this...? I'm getting a bit worried. Well, whatever. Try holding a dual sword stance in that state."
Sara did as she was told and held up the wooden swords from earlier.
"Can you make the next move from there?"
"I'll try."
As she imagined the movements from the Sarasa game era, more detailed movements and a unique rhythm flowed through her brain, and her body naturally tried to replicate the same movements, tingling with anticipation.
Sara's hands on either side cut through imaginary enemies while dodging their attacks. Her light footwork looked like she was dancing.
As Jeffrey swung the wooden sword he was holding towards Sara, Sara naturally parried the sword with her left wooden sword without even looking, and jumped back with a backflip-like motion without any preparatory movements.
"Hmm, a bit rough, but nice movements... Wait, no way! This isn't the movement of a beginner!"
"I'm surprised myself, yeah."
"But that's an unprecedented sword technique. Sara, are you planning to create a new school of swordsmanship?"
"I don't have any such intention."
Sara herself is perplexed by her own movements.
"Revi, hand Sara that sword over there."
Sara, who had just received the sword from Rebecca, was surprised by its substantial weight, unlike a wooden sword.
"It's heavy, isn't it?"
"That's still on the lighter side. Well, considering Sara's physique, even with body enhancement, it's going to be tough. Can you pull off that move from earlier?"
"I'll try."
Sara realized that having a certain amount of weight in her sword made her movements more precise by repeating her actions from a stance.
'I think this weight is more manageable, but it's impossible to move for an extended period.'
"Sara, that's enough. How does it feel?"
"It's definitely easier to use this way. I think a certain amount of weight is necessary. But my body can't keep up."
"That's because your movements aren't for kids. They're not refined yet, but they're somewhat complete. So, who are you?"
At that moment, Sara and Rebecca's movements came to an abrupt halt.
"Are you prepared to hear this?"
"I can make an educated guess. I'm from Grandchester, after all."
"Well, I'll just say that it's probably what you expected. Depending on grandfather's permission, I might be able to tell you more."
"I suppose that's true."
"Don't you want me to be your son's wife anymore?"
"No, I want you to be my son's wife even more. But the problem is whether Scott can become a man worthy of Sara."
Just then, Scott and Blaze approached them.
"Father, I think I overheard something I shouldn't have."
"Ah, you heard it. But if things continue like this, you'll become a knight weaker than your wife."
"Is that so? I'd like to see that for myself."
Scott discarded his gentle demeanor and gazed at Sara with a sharp glare. At that moment, a chill ran down Sara's spine.
"Sir Jeffrey, may I borrow Scott's chest for a moment?"
"Well, it's suspicious who's going to back down, but whatever."
With Jeffrey's permission, Sara and Scott moved to the center of the training hall, took a distance, and faced each other. Sara naturally strengthened her body as if she was breathing, and readied her dual swords. Of course, both of them were using wooden swords.
"I'll go first, okay?"
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it."
Sara kicked the ground and quickly closed the distance to Scott, parried Scott's sword with her left sword, and then swung her right sword to graze Scott's side. However, Scott twisted his body to avoid Sara's sword and changed his stance.
"This is going to be tough if I don't get serious."
"You're not going easy on a younger girl, huh?"
While exchanging such conversation, the two of them didn't stop moving for a moment. They clashed, slashed, and sometimes mixed in martial arts, repeating their offense and defense. Their movements looked like they were dancing elegantly.
Jeffrey and Rebecca, who were watching the two of them, couldn't hide their surprise. Before they knew it, Blaze had also approached and was watching the two of them.
"This is more than I expected."
"Is Milady Sara really a beginner like me? I'm a guy, but..."
"Don't compare yourself to her, Blaze. In Grandchester, or rather, in this world, there are occasionally people who are exceptional. Our efforts as ordinary people are nothing compared to them."
"Is that the will of the goddess of creation?"
"Are you a believer in the goddess?"
"I don't know. But in the mercenary group I was in, we would pray to the goddess before battles."
"Is that so? Well, it's possible that the intentions of the gods or goddesses are involved. But honestly, no one knows the truth."
Blaze looked up at Jeffrey.
"Sir Jeffrey, is it pointless for me to try hard?"
"I don't like to give false hope, so I'll say it clearly: I don't know. There are things that won't work no matter how hard you try, and there are people like Sara who can do things easily without trying."
"Is that so...?"
"But Sara isn't perfect either. Ah, it's about time."
Up until then, the two had been exchanging flawless attacks and defenses, but suddenly Sara's body tilted. However, Scott couldn't stop his sword in time as he swung it down.
Clack!!!
Just then, Jeffrey intervened, deflecting Scott's sword and catching Sara as she collapsed.
"Hey Scott, pay attention to your opponent's condition for once!"
"Ahh, I'm sorry!"
"Well, I get why you're like that, but..."
Jeffrey, who was holding Sara in a side carry, called out to Rebecca and Maria to take Sara back to the mansion. He told Scott and Blaze to continue practicing, but the two were worried about Sara's condition and kept pestering him, so in the end, everyone ended up heading back to the mansion together.
