Chapter 109 I Don'T Believe In Reflecting
"Sara, Revi, welcome back."
"Good evening, Uncle Robert."
As Sara and Rebecca returned from Jeffrey's mansion, they ran into Robert, who had just arrived at the main house.
"How was your sword training?"
"I realized I'm out of shape. Sir Jeffrey told me to focus on building my endurance first."
"Haha, I was told the same thing."
"I don't think that's just a past tense for you, Rob. You're just not getting enough exercise, are you?"
"Uncle Robert, is your waistline okay?"
"Can you two please stop treating me like an out-of-shape old man?"
"Uh... isn't it true that you're an out-of-shape guy in your thirties, Uncle Robert?"
"That's true..."
Considering Robert had been on the verge of collapse from overwork while dealing with the embezzlement case, it's no wonder he's not getting enough exercise. However, with the office maid's help, his work schedule has become more manageable, and he's been getting snacks and light meals during breaks, which has probably contributed to his slightly softer waistline.
As it was already evening, the 3 of them returned to their rooms to get ready, then headed to the dining room.
"Ugh, I feel guilty about eating after Sara pointed out my waistline."
Robert, who had declined a pre-dinner drink, instructed the servant to serve himself a larger portion.
"Did it bother you that much, Uncle?"
"Well, a bit. I think I'll go horseback riding with Sara to get some exercise."
"That sounds great I need to practice my horseback riding too."
"Ugh, it seems like Sara will be spending all the time at Jeff's place."
"You can come here for academic lessons instead. And dance too."
"Dance is something that improves faster with a partner. I'm glad Ms. Sara has a good practice partner."
"Height-wise, Blaze might be a better partner than Scott."
Robert asked Sara about the unfamiliar name he had just heard.
"Who's Blaze?"
"That boy who lost control of his magic the other day."
"Ah, that kid. His name suits him, being a fire magician. We need to make sure he doesn't lose control again."
"Yeah...Blaze is an incredibly skilled magician in a different way from Ms. Sara."
"Don't you think he's also training in magic?"
"I do plan on training with him, but if Blaze gets intimidated and can't keep up, it'll be tough."
"I'm actually thinking of improving my magic control accuracy right now, so I don't plan on showing off any flashy magic."
"I'm a bit skeptical about Ms. Sara's common sense, though."
"Miss Rebecca, that's mean!"
But Robert felt the same way about this point. Sara was indeed unreasonable in the hunting grounds.
"By the way, I heard that Scott has some old horse equipment from when he was a kid. I was thinking of borrowing it for Ms. Sara's horseback riding training."
"Does she really not need to get new ones, Rev?"
"Uncle, it's for kids, so it's fine. Besides, I want to spend money on my own horse!"
"Well, Father probably be thrilled to give you a good horse."
"Yes!"
'Having my own horse is going to be so exciting I guess it was impossible in my past life.'
"Father will also arrive at Grandchester Castle by tomorrow morning."
"It seems Grandfather rushed to get here on horseback."
"Well, there's still some cleaning up to do, Ms. Sara. And the hunting tournament is coming up soon."
"But Ed and Liz will probably come soon too."
The atmosphere suddenly became tense, and Rebecca's expression turned stiff.
"Well, I'll have to meet them eventually. I can't avoid it forever."
"But meeting them without a plan would be reckless, Ms. Sara."
"Let's come up with a strategy beforehand. I've also heard some things about them from the fairies."
"Really?"
"Mike apparently drank with Grandfather and even slept in the same bed. And Mike called Grandfather 'Will'."
Both Rebecca and Robert were shocked by this information.
"Ms. Sara's fairy is really something."
"I don't think anyone has called Father that since Mother."
"And...I'm sorry to say this, but... my fairy's friends have increased."
"Wow, Ms. Sara, you're really loved by the fairies, aren't you?"
"What kind of kid is it this time, anyway, Sara?"
"It's, um... a butler."
"Huh? Did I mishear? I could've sworn I heard 'butler'."
"That's right, Uncle."
"Why is a fairy a butler, anyway?"
"I'm not really sure myself, but apparently it's a fairy that takes on a human form and wears black butler-like clothes. It's a fairy that's been sneaking around the noble estates in the royal capital."
"Oh, I see. Wow..."
Robert seemed to be at a loss for how to react. And then, as if to rub it in, Sara ordered everyone to leave, and after the maids and attendants had gone, she spoke up again.
"My new friend's name is Sedrick. And since it's been going in and out of various noble households, it's a fairy that's really in the know when it comes to information."
"Ms. Sara, is that fairy...?"
"Yes. It's a fairy that's interested in human affairs and enjoys collecting all sorts of information."
"What?!"
"Recently, he told me that the Crown Prince of Roisen had secretly visited King Avalon's palace."
"Well, isn't that something!"
"Sara... that's a pretty big deal, you know?"
"Yes, I know, Uncle. It's just so charming that I couldn't resist the temptation to befriend it."
"I guess so. More and more Ms. Sara is going to be out of the norm..."
Rebecca finally threw up her hands in exasperation.
"Miss Rebecca, wouldn't you be tempted too if he asked you to be friends?"
"Of course I would I'd be putty in its hands. I'd cave in immediately."
"Exactly."
Sara and Rebecca exchanged a glance and nodded in agreement.
"According to Sedrick, Uncle Edward and Aunt Elizabeth severely scolded my cousins for bullying me."
"Oh, now they're doing that?"
"Apparently, they only recently found out that I fell into the pond, and in front of Grandfather, they brought up the topic of their divorce and the disinheriting of the children."
"I guess there was a point to making a scene in front of His Excellency the Marquis, huh?"
"Probably so, according to Sedrick. He says that the young Marquis is 'being kept in line by the wife's intelligence'."
""That's true!""
Rebecca and Robert harmonized perfectly at that moment.
"So, when the Marquis family arrives, they'll probably apologize to me, making a big show of it in front of Grandfather."
"I don't see the point of a half-hearted apology at this late stage."
"It's just a hassle. My cousins won't change easily, so they'll probably just apologize for show. Honestly, I'd rather just ignore them. It's a waste of time, and I don't believe for a second that they'll reflect on their actions."
"Don't worry, Revi and I will protect Sara with all our might!"
"No, please don't intervene. I don't want to trouble Uncle or Miss Rebecca over something like this."
"Alright, I'll just cheer you on from the sidelines, but if things don't go well, don't hesitate to call out for help."
"Yes, thank you."
