Chapter 113 First Study Session Ii
After the literature class, it was time for math class. Sara didn't need it, but Thomas seemed to want to know her abilities.
At first, it was just simple problems like basic arithmetic, but soon Thomas started giving out problems on factoring and equations, around middle school level. Sara was solving the problems quickly, and Thomas was staring at her with a mesmerized expression.
Honestly, Rebecca was watching this scene with an uneasy feeling.
'How old is Mister Thomas? If Ms. Sara becomes an adult, it wouldn't be weird for her to be with him. They're a good match in terms of social status too...'
"Umm, it's clear that Ms. Sara is better at math than Scott."
"Mister Thomas, please be a bit kinder when I'm feeling down. It's really tough to lose to my future wife."
"Oh, are Ms. Sara and Scott engaged?"
"No, not at all Mister Thomas. Scott is just saying that on his own. Scott and I aren't engaged."
"That's good, then. It doesn't seem like you've lost to your future wife, Scott."
"Mister Thomas, shouldn't you be supporting your student?"
"Umm, Ms. Sara is charming, so it's not very motivating as a tutor to support someone who can't study."
Rebecca was the one who noticed Blaze's situation during math class.
"Mister Thomas, Blaze seems to have no problem with addition and subtraction, even with multiple digits."
"I've had to buy a lot of things, like drinks, so I can do this much."
"Then let's memorize the multiplication table."
The multiplication table, which is like the "9x9" tables in Japan, goes up to 20×20 in this world. Sara's inner Sarasa thought "Wow, Indian-style math!" but since Sarasa had dabbled in Indian-style math a bit in the past, it wasn't a problem.
However, the fact that Blaze memorized the multiplication table by the end of the morning class and could do multi-digit multiplication calculations quickly shocked not just Sara, but everyone present.
"That's because when I buy things like drinks and food, I have to buy a lot of the same-priced items. If I make a mistake with the change, I'll get scolded."
The person himself replied with a cool face. It's terrifying to think that he's learned math through actual practice.
'I'm cheating with my past life's knowledge, so I'm being praised as a genius... but the real genius might be here...'
"Miss Rebecca, this might be something that even Scott or Ms. Sara can't catch up with."
"Well, Ms. Sara is special in many ways, but this is indeed amazing."
"Yeah, Scott, aren't you in trouble?"
"This is bad. As an older brother, my dignity is... I need to get serious about studying or I'll be in trouble."
"Weren't you serious about it until now?"
"I thought it was pointless to become a knight, but thanks to Sara, I've woken up. I need to get serious too."
"Hmm, Scott. You've finally gotten motivated. You might need to thank Ms. Sara for that. And Blaze too."
Thomas combed his hair and smiled brightly.
"Eh, eh, eh! Did Mister Thomas have such a face?!"
'Whoa, he's a stunningly handsome young man. Is he a model or something like Paris Collection?'
"Ah, I'm sorry. I have a habit of combing my hair when I get excited or happy..."
"Are you hiding it on purpose?"
"Uh, well... this face of mine gets me into a lot of trouble..."
"I kind of understand that."
It's probably trouble with women. He's that handsome. Even Jeffrey, Robert, or Sara's father, Arthur, can't win against him.
"To be honest, I had to quit being a bureaucrat because of the trouble this face gets me into, and Sir Jeffrey took me in. I thought that if I became a tutor for boys, I wouldn't get involved in unnecessary trouble..."
"But didn't you think it would be okay to be a tutor for girls too?"
"Well, I thought it would be fine since Ms. Sara was 8 years old, and Lady Rebecca of the Orson household is a famous beauty, so I didn't think my face would be a surprise."
"No, I was quite surprised too. But I don't think it will develop into trouble."
Sara gazed intently at Thomas's face. His messy hair had a wild wave, and his green eyes gave off a mysterious aura.
"I might cause trouble in the future..."
"Ms. Sara, don't worry. Let's wait for about 10 years."
Thomas floated a beautiful smile and met Sara's gaze. Sara took Thomas's words as a joke, but Rebecca noticed that Thomas was dead serious.
"For now, Mister Thomas, please keep your face hidden during class. It's distracting."
"If that's what Ms. Sara wishes."
Thomas quickly smoothed out his hair.
Scott, who was watching from the side, felt uneasy. Thomas was a 19-year-old young man who had entered the Academy at 10 and graduated at 15, and was an exceptional individual with a bright future in economics and management, even being employed as the youngest bureaucrat in the royal palace.
'This is bad, this is bad. If things go on like this, Sara might fall for Mister Thomas... No, I can't underestimate Blaze, who's close in age... This guy's got a beautiful face too...'
As a boy in puberty, Scott couldn't help but feel complicated. Scott was a pretty boy himself, but Mister Thomas's impact was just too strong.
As if she understood Scott's thoughts, Rebecca patted Scott's shoulder.
"Scott, what you can do is work hard, get excellent grades, and graduate from the Academy. Then, you can receive a knighthood. Do your best!"
From that day on, Scott began to put in his full effort into everything, including swordsmanship and studying.
Rebecca: You're not saying that just because the guy is handsome, are you?
Sara: But he's waiting, after all.
Rebecca: But isn't it weird to think of an 8-year-old girl as a future bride?
Sara: A handsome guy can get away with anything!
Rebecca: What about Scott?
Sara: A beautiful boy can get away with anything too.
Rebecca: Ms. Sara... you have no shame.
