Chapter 115 Those Who Know No Defeat And Those Who Get Dragged In

"By the way, I have magic training scheduled for this afternoon, but what about you, Scott?"

"Of course, I'll participate. I can also use fire-attribute magic."

Rebecca asked, and Scott immediately responded. However, Rebecca, who had asked the question, seemed hesitant for a moment.

"Let's start by checking your attribute compatibility and magic power. Don't overdo it, okay?"

"Miss Rebecca, is there a problem with Scott's magic?"

 Thomas asked, looking puzzled.

"No, there's no problem with Scott's magic, Mister Thomas. I just want to be cautious since I've never seen it before."

"That's true. Magic can be unstable when it's first developed, after all."

"Does that mean you, Mister Thomas, can also use magic?"

"Well, I'm not as famous as Miss Rebecca, but I can use earth- and wood-attribute magic. If it's fire-attribute, I think I can teach Scott... but it's not something you can force."

 "That's right..."

Rebecca smiled faintly, as if she was hiding something.

"Actually, during Ms. Sara's first magic training, she collapsed from magic exhaustion. She got too excited and kept using her newly developed magic. At first, I intended to stop her, but I decided to let her experience exhaustion to make it sink in."

 Rebecca smiled mischievously.

"Huh. Even Sara, the top student, did something like that!"

Scott, who didn't know what kind of magic Sara had used, looked delighted to hear the story. By the way, Sara herself had used earth-attribute magic to repair the training grounds she had destroyed.

"I wanted Ms. Sara to learn magic control properly. Scott, just remember this: don't lose yourself by comparing your strength to others, okay?"

"Revi, don't worry so much about him. He's fine. He's like Jeff, so I know he's better at swords than magic."

Robert casually supported Scott, but the next moment, he was about to receive a severe shock.

"Sir Robert, I think Sara has more talent for swords than magic. If she trains her physical strength, she'll become as strong as me."

 "Wh-what, Scott?!"

"What did you just say, Scott?!"

Scott's statement shocked both Robert and Marquis simultaneously.

"Wait a minute, Sara. Didn't you hold a sword for the first time at Jeff's place yesterday?"

"Ah... yes. That's right, Uncle. I was surprised by my own lack of physical strength."

Sara replied with a smile, but she was aware that the conversation was taking a suspicious turn.

'Yeah, it's like I have some kind of cheat, being skilled at both magic and swords.'

 "Jeff, what's going on?"

"Miss Sara skillfully wielded dual swords and fought my eldest son to a standstill."

"And who won in the end?"

 Marquis asked with great interest.

"Miss Sara's physical strength gave out first, so my son won the match. But it's hard to say what will happen if she trains her body more. She's making up for her lack of strength with technique and speed, but Miss Sara's strength is the real deal."

 "You're saying that, Jeff?"

"If it weren't for the rule that women can't join the knights, I'd want to scout her."

 "Don't say that out loud..."

At this, Marquis teased Robert with a grin.

"Haha, Robert, you can't even win against Sara with magic, let alone swords. Do you think you can win in an official match?"

"Father, can you please stop asking meaningless questions? I'll return the question to you."

 "Hmm... that's a tough one."

But Rebecca was watching this exchange between the men with concern. Having seen Scott's behavior that morning, Rebecca thought he was too caught up in his own strength and abilities.

Jeffrey was the one who noticed Rebecca's gaze.

"Lady Rebecca, don't worry. Scott just needs to have his pride hurt a bit."

"Father I'm not getting too full of myself. I acknowledge Sara's strength, don't I?"

"Hmm. But I wouldn't make a foolish comment like comparing my abilities to Milady Sara's. You can't measure someone's abilities in just one encounter."

"Are you saying I'm inferior to her, Father?"

"If it's just about physical strength, you might be stronger. But aside from that, there's not a single aspect where you surpass Miss Sara. It's different from the way you carry yourself."

 "What?!"

Scott felt a strong sense of resistance to his father's harsh words. However, he interpreted it as being scolded for boasting about his abilities in front of Marquis, Sara's grandfather. But at that time, Scott didn't realize that he was trying to convince himself by overthinking it.

"I see. I'll be more careful from now on."

Jeffrey noticed that Scott didn't understand his words and was feeling resentful.

'It's something he can only learn through experience, I suppose. Well, if it's me, I don't want to lose to the girl I want to marry...'

Scott, who inherited Jeffrey's excellent physique and swordsmanship talent, had never experienced a crushing defeat before. Among his peers who were also knight apprentices, there was probably no one who could beat Scott.

Jeffrey taught Scott to "always be humble," but for a young boy who was aware of his excellent physical abilities and talents, it was extremely difficult to do so.

And what was decisive was that he could use fire magic. His cousins in the capital hadn't developed their magic yet. Moreover, Scott's fire magic was stronger than that of the Grandchester main house's men, and he could produce a flame that could burn a bundle of straw in the training grounds.

In the past, Scott had aimed to become a knight like his father, and he wanted to win the swordsmanship tournament held in the capital. He also dreamed of becoming the leader of the Grandchester Knights like his father. But now, Scott had started to imagine Sara, beautifully grown up, standing beside him as the leader.

"Then, I'll start my self-training in the training grounds ahead of schedule."

 "Alright, do your best."

 "Yes, Father."

Sara watched Scott's back as he walked away, letting out a deep sigh.

"Sir Jeffrey, please stop using me for the sake of your children's education. What if my relationship with Scott gets worse because of it!"

"That's impossible, so don't worry. The boys of Grandchester are one-track-minded once they fall in love."

Sara tilted her head then looking at Robert.

 "What do you mean?"

"Sara... can you stop looking at me like that? It's annoying."

"Isn't Ms. Sara's question reasonable, though?"

Rebecca asked as she gazed at Robert with an icy smile.

"Anyway, it's too dangerous to let Scott train in magic on his own, so I'll head to the training grounds first."

"Ah, then I'll come too with Miss Rebecca. Scott is my student, after all."

"I'm done eating, so I'll come along too."

Without waiting for Robert's response, Rebecca stood up and left, followed by Thomas and Blaze. Robert was left sitting at the table, feeling stunned and helpless.

"I'm sorry. I just happened to see uncle..."

"Sara, you don't have to apologize. This is Robert's own doing."

"That's right. Milady Sara isn't at fault."

'It's like my uncle got completely caught up in this... it's kind of pitiful...'
