Chapter 132 Can You Hear Me?

Chapter 132 Can You Hear Me?

Multiple horses were vying for Blaze's attention as Sara caught sight of him.

'That guy, he's really popular with the mares, huh? Is he your boyfriend or something?'

"No way! I'm still only 8 years old!"

'Hey, we'd have at least one or 2 foals by the time we're 8, no big deal.'

"Don't lump me in with you guys!"

'Humans grow up so slowly, don't they?'

"And besides, I'm a special model, so I won't become an old lady even when I grow up."

'Is that because of these guys?'

 "Do you know?"

'Horses know a lot more than you think. Especially horses like me.'

"What do you mean, horses like you?"

 'Are you a reincarnator too?'

 "!?"

'There are horses that have been reincarnated multiple times.'

 "Did Durandal get reincarnated too?"

'I've only been reincarnated once, but I've met horses that have been reincarnated multiple times.'

 "That's true."

'I don't know why I got reincarnated, but I'm happy to have met someone as interesting as you this time around.'

 "Thanks!"

 Sara nuzzled Durandal's head.

"By the way, can I put a saddle on you?"

 'Go ahead.'

"I was a bit resistant to getting saddled because it's hard to find someone to talk to."

'It's not that bad, but sometimes it hurts when you get saddled by a weirdo. So, Sara will fix it for me, right?'

"Got it. I'll learn how to handle it properly."

As usual, Blaze, who's super popular with the girls (or mares), was struggling to choose which one to pick.

"If he get that popular, he won't be able to choose!"

'Just mate with all of them and be done with it!'

"What are you saying?! He's still a kid! And besides, Blaze is human!"

 'Oh, are you jealous?'

 "N-no way!"

Durandal smiled, showing its teeth, clearly teasing Sara.

"You're only 2 years old, but why do you have such an old man-like personality?"

'That's because I lived until I was 30 in my past life, after all.'

"In a sense, we're the same age, aren't we?"

'What, were you a grandma or something?'

"So don't lump me in with the horses, I'm still a young lady, you know!"

'Did you get ridden by various guys or something?'

"Shut up, Durandal. If you say any more, I'll cook and eat you!"

 'Eeek, scary!'

From the first day they met, Sara never imagined she'd be having a conversation like this with a horse, like they were old drinking buddies.

"By the way, among those girls, is there one that you recommend?"

'Yeah, they're all strong-willed girls, but that one with the reed-like hair is faster than the average horse.'

 "Faster than you, Durandal?"

'Don't be ridiculous. I'm the best among horses of the same age!'

 "Hmm..."

 'Do you doubt me?'

"I've never seen anything like it. But since Grandfather and Mr. Ronnie have already selected these horses, I'm sure they're all excellent."

'Yeah, they're pretty great. But I'm the best, after all!'

"Okay, let's have a race then. But you need to wear the horse gear first."

Sara decided to have the groom put on the kid-sized horse gear she received from Scott, while observing and learning how to do it herself.

She also asked the groom a question.

 "Hey, is this horse fast?"

"Yes, it's definitely the fastest among its peers, but it's moody and won't run if it doesn't like its rider. If it listens to what you say, that's great."

'Hey, don't trust what that guy says? I hate people who treat horses violently for no reason.'

 "I see. I'll remember that."

When Sara finished putting on the horse's saddle, she asked someone to bring her a stepping stool, and then she got on the horse, Durandal.

'Hey, you've ridden a horse before, huh?'

 "Can you tell?"

 'Yeah, your posture looks natural.'

"But I've never made this body run at full speed before."

 'Really?'

"I want to know what it's like to go really fast, though."

Racing at full speed is exhilarating, but it's unsustainable for more than a few minutes due to the limitations of living creatures. Prolonged pushing can be fatal. To avoid this, even when time is of the essence, such as when heading to the hunting grounds, the full-speed sprint is reserved for the final leg before switching to a fresh mount.

"Grandfather, may I take the horse out to the riding area?"

"It's fine, but don't overdo it, okay?"

 "Scott, go with her."

 "Got it."

Scott got on his own horse, and he and Sara went out to the riding area together. They started by walking their horses slowly around the big grassy course. By the way, Scott's horse was white, so he looked just like a prince on a white horse.

"I heard you were experienced, Sara, but I guess it's true."

"I was born near the border, and both my parents rode horses, so I naturally wanted to ride too."

 "That makes sense."

"Yeah. My mom started teaching me when I was around three."

"It wasn't Sir Arthur who taught you?"

"My dad was against it because it's dangerous, so my mom taught me in secret when he wasn't around."

 "Hehe, Sara was loved, huh?"

"Maybe so. Hey Scott, I want to know how fast this horse can go. Can I make it run?"

"You can go up to a trot, but no cantering or galloping yet."

 "Aww, that's boring."

 'Yeah, it's boring, right?'

"See, even Durandal says it's boring."

Scott forced a laugh as he gazed at Sara and Durandal.

"In Sara's case, it's really scary because you're having a conversation like that."

 'I'm doing it.'

"It's okay, I only understand what Durandal is saying."

"That doesn't sound okay at all."

"Ah, ah, let's not worry about it and have a horse race!"

As soon as he said that, Sara started racing Durandal ahead of Scott. Scott's horse was a 5-year-old magnificent warhorse known for its speed. Before they knew it, the two of them and their 2 horses were galloping at full speed on the long, straight grass track.

Neither Sara nor Scott used their whips, letting their horses run freely. The horses were competing with each other, and Scott's horse won by a narrow margin. However, Durandal was also quite fast.

"That kid is amazing. He's only 2 years old, right?"

"I didn't think this child could go this fast."

"This Dimna is the child of my father's horse, and its mother is a talented racehorse with excellent bloodlines. But Durandal might get even faster. It's surprising that a 2-year-old horse can keep up with Dimuna."

 "Good job, Durandal."

 'Yeah, I lost... .'

It seemed like Durandal was quite frustrated.

"This kid looks like they're pouting."

"It's good to have a competitive spirit."

Just then, Blaze, who had received the reins from the groom, slowly approached the horse track. It seemed like he had chosen a chestnut horse recommended by Durandal.

"It looks like Blaze chose a horse too."

"He's really popular with the mares, isn't he?"

"In a few years, he'll probably be popular with human girls too, not just horses."

"He does have a pretty face, doesn't he?"

"He's cute now, but he'll probably become really cool soon. I bet the girls who fall in love with him will tease him just because he's our childhood friend."

"He's not the type to give up easily, is he?"

 "I can't deny that."

Just then, Durandal, who had been feeling down, lifted his head and neighed.

'Are you going to let him ride on you?'

"If you don't behave, I won't give you the Elma I brought."

Sara whispered in Duran Dal's ear. Scott looked puzzled, but Sara just gave him a vague smile, not wanting to explain that the horse was making a dirty joke.

Just then, Marquis and Rebecca rode up on their horses.

"Ms. Sara, what's going on here? You suddenly took off like that――it's not safe!"

"Scott, what were you thinking, following Sara like that?"

 The adults were angry.

"I'm sorry. I ignored Scott's warning and took off on my own. I just wanted to see how fast Durandal could go. Grandfather, Scott didn't do anything wrong."

"No, I'm just as guilty. I rode alongside Sara."

Rebecca scolded the two of them.

"Listen, I know Ms. Sara is talented, but your body is still developing. Imagine if you were riding a horse and fell off in a place where nobody is around to help. It could be really bad. If you land the wrong way, you could even break your neck. Not even my special healing powers can bring someone back to life if they die right away."

 "Sorry."

"Scott, you knew how dangerous it was, didn't you? I'll make sure to tell Jeff about this too."

 "Yes, I apologize."

Durandal, who had been watching the two, also felt bad and spoke to Sara.

'Sorry, Sara. I got you involved in my selfishness.'

"Oh, Durandal too is reflecting on his actions. You're a wise kid."

 'Do you understand?'

"Of course, I do. There are this many fairies around, after all."

Then, the people around them were shocked all at once.

"Wait, do you really understand what the horse is saying?"

"Yes, Durandal is a horse loved by the fairies, after all."

"Then, does that mean Milady Sara was really having a conversation with Durandal earlier?"

 "Of course, Mr. Ronnie."

"I see, but Sara... you really can talk to Durandal."

 "Yes, that's right, Scott."

 """Wow, that's so enviable..."""

Marquis, Scott, and Ronnie all exclaimed at the same time. But what surprised them even more was Blaze's next statement.

 "Hey, I can understand too?"

Everyone turned to look at Blaze.

 "Blaze can understand too?"

"Yeah. I've been listening to Durandal and Sara's conversation since earlier."

 "Huh?"

"Durandal said, 'That chestnut horse is faster than the other stallions around here,' so I chose this one."

 "You really did hear it."

Ronnie, who was standing nearby, let out a surprised voice.

"It's true, this horse is the fastest among the mares. Durandal knew that too."

Rebecca also looked at Blaze with a puzzled expression.

"Blaze... do you have a fairy friend or something?"

"Uh-uh, there isn't one. But since I came here, I've been seeing these orbs of light flying around Sara and Durandal. Come to think of it, there are a lot of them near Miss Rebecca's hair too..."

 "Oh my goodness..."

Rebecca turned to face the Marquis and suggested they head back to the castle immediately. Sara and Blaze had already chosen their horses, so the Marquis agreed that they had accomplished their goal for the day. After quickly signing the documents for the horse transfer, the Marquis decided to take the horses and head back to the castle.

Sara rode Durandal alone, but Blaze rode Scott's horse, leading his own horse, which he had named "Alva," behind him.

Before mounting his horse, Blaze approached Sara and whispered in her ear.

"Don't worry, Sara! I don't plan on riding on you for now."

 "#!$!?"

It seems like Blaze also heard the indecent joke from Durandal...

Sara: Blaze understands the joke too, and it's scary!

Author: He's been raised in a mercenary group, so he'd know, 100%

Sara: Author, you're going to get found out...

Author: Should I say it in Pelican? But the readers are already suspicious, aren't they?

Sara: Just be honest about it!

Author: But when you say it, it has no persuasive power at all!

 Sara: That's true!

Author: By the way, did you notice?

 Sara: What?

Author: Blaze said "for now" just now

 Sara: Hah!
