Chapter 238 Could It Be A Rampage?
Sara let out a deep, deep sigh and stared at Professor McKellen.
"It seems there are some misunderstandings, so I want to clarify that I am the one who has taken over the materials from Paracelsus, not Alicia."
"Huh?"
"The Maiden's Tower is originally the place where Paracelsus's laboratory was located. The previous Marquis Grandchester invited Paracelsus to this land and built a laboratory in that tower with his own money, allowing him to research freely. Therefore, Paracelsus's achievements belong to the Grandchester family, and the current Marquis Grandchester passed it on to me."
"What? That ridiculous inheritance!"
'I admit I used some sneaky methods, but I don't think other Grandchester-related people could have made use of it either.'
"Also, Paracelsus himself never attended the Academy and was rejected by the alchemist guild in the royal capital, as written in his diary. This means Paracelsus was just a 'self-proclaimed' alchemist, and it's questionable whether the materials he sent a few times are still at the Academy. The materials Alicia referred to this time were once sent to the Academy by Paracelsus himself."
"!?"
"Paracelsus is Alicia's great-great-grandfather. The foundational research by Paracelsus cited in Alicia's paper is documented in materials compiled over 100 years ago when Paracelsus was still living in the royal capital. However, he stopped this research without creating a magic stone that could replenish magical power."
"Why is that?"
"That's because there wasn't enough research funding. Magic stones aren't cheap materials."
"I see."
"That's why Paracelsus sent a paper to the Academy, asking to collaborate on magic stone research."
"So what happened?"
Sara glanced at Professor McKellen before smiling at Prince Andrew.
"It seems that the Academy's authoritarianism hasn't changed much, both now and in the past. Paracelsus's diary is full of complaints."
"Hahaha. The legendary alchemist had quite a human side, huh?"
'Human side, or rather... umm...'
"In that sense, Paracelsus's family has repeatedly faced heartless treatment from the authoritarian Academy. So why should Alicia have to consider them?"
"I understand the situation now."
Prince Andrew turned to the Academy officials and declared.
"Honestly, it doesn't seem like your claims have any validity. You should give up and quietly return to the royal capital. Since you came with me, you can stay in the Grandchester territory until I leave for the royal capital, but stay away from the Maiden's Tower. If you get captured again, I won't help you, so keep that in mind."
"However, Your Highness, we do intend to apologize."
"And is that the result of actions like those of thieves? It's hard to believe that. If you plan to further tarnish my face as the king's representative visiting the Grandchester territory, you can expect appropriate punishment."
"However, the item is a magic stone that can replenish magical power. It is a dream technology, as Your Highness yourself has said. Since you will become the king in the future, please think about the country's benefit first. Why can't you understand such a simple thing?!"
Sara suddenly noticed that the atmosphere around Prince Andrew had changed. Looking around, it seemed that Marquis Grandchester and Jeffrey had also noticed.
"Exactly. Do you not realize that because of your extremely rude and foolish behavior, Avalon has missed out on the precious technology offered? Enough already, you old fools!"
Sara noticed that Prince Andrew's magical power was wavering and quickly deployed wind attribute defensive magic around the academy officials.
"Your Highness! This is not good. The magical power is about to go out of control."
The moment Sara spoke, an incredible force of wind attribute magic activated on its own. Sara could only deploy a dome-shaped defensive magic to cover the magic unleashed by the prince, waiting for it to settle.
'It's more dangerous to try to cancel this magic out.'
"Sir Jeffrey, please evacuate those outside the defensive magic just in case. Also, someone send a horse to Maiden's Tower to get a magical power recovery potion from Ms. Amelia."
"Understood. But, is Sara going to be okay?"
"My magical power won't run out first. Just hurry up!"
Jeffrey avoided the nearby servants while instructing his subordinates to head to Maiden's Tower.
"Mother, His Highness is probably injured due to his own magic. Is it possible to use healing magic through the defense magic?"
"I'll give it a try."
Rebecca cast her light attribute healing magic, attempting to treat Prince Andrew. However, it seemed she couldn't break through Sara's defense magic.
"Father, please use wind attribute magic to interfere with part of my defense magic and cancel it out. Mother can then send healing magic from there."
Robert and Rebecca nodded silently and began to cast their magic.
"Uncle Edward, please make sure this doesn't leak outside. We can't let anyone know about His Highness's magic rampage."
"Understood."
Edward also dashed out toward the outside.
"Grandfather, with this magic, Crown Prince Gerhart in the same building must have noticed as well. Please hurry and follow up with him."
"Okay. Sorry, but I'll leave the rest to you."
"Leave it to me."
Prince Andrew stood in the raging storm, his long, copper-colored hair tousled. His golden eyes shone brightly, looking like a beautiful beast.
'Seriously... this is unbelievable. Are young people in this world also quick to anger?'
Though Sara couldn't really say much about others, she strangely became calm when someone else got angry.
"Your Highness, can you hear my voice? Please calm your heart. Your Highness is also hurt by the magic. Please control the magic. Please listen to my voice, and let's slowly suppress the magic's activation."
Sara unconsciously began to sing. It was a lullaby she had heard from Adelia before she regained Sarasa's memories. However, that voice contained a faint magical power, which reached Prince Andrew's ears.
----
Sleep, sleep, my dear child
The cradle sways just for you
The fluffy blanket is warm
Sleep, sleep, my dear child
The moon smiles down on you
The stars twinkle brightly
Sleep, sleep, my dear child
The little birds sing a lullaby
The mice weave your dreams
----
By the time Sara finished singing the lullaby, Prince Andrew's magic had calmed down and quietly settled.
"Your Highness, can you hear my voice?"
"I can hear you. I'm really sorry. I never thought it would go out of control."
"Is it okay to release the defensive magic now?"
"Yeah, I think it's fine since there's almost no magic left."
Sara released the two magic circles she had activated. Everyone in the center, who was related to the academy, had fainted. They were probably overwhelmed.
"Your Highness, are you hurt?"
"Thanks to the healing magic I've been receiving, I'm not hurt at all. My clothes are in tatters, though."
"Your Highness's attendant should be bringing a change of clothes."
"--Is he safe?"
"Are you okay? You were outside the defense magic."
"Yeah. I'm glad."
"Does Your Highness often have magic surges?"
"My magic power is greater than King His Majesty or my father. But I'm not good at controlling it, so when I'm tired or my emotions are unstable, it can go out of control. It hasn't happened much lately, but I was tired and had to listen to that annoying old man's story..."
"I see. But it seems like you should train a bit more on magic control."
"Yeah. Because of that, I can't chant forbidden spells."
"That's a big problem."
Rebecca is checking on the academy staff.
"Mother, are the academy people okay?"
"It seems they are just unconscious. Luckily, the old folks' hearts are still beating. But..."
"But what?"
"Maybe because they felt a lot of stress at once, some of them don't look so good with their hair..."
"Huh?"
"It seems there are some whose brown hair turned white and others who are losing hair."
"That's really unfortunate."
'They must have been really scared.'
"Are there any who need new clothes?"
"That seems to be okay. Everyone managed to use the restroom before coming here, which is a relief."
"That's a silver lining. Cleaning up indoors would be tough."
"Yeah."
Prince Andrew, sitting on the floor, watched Rebecca and Sara chatting cheerfully.
"By the way, you two get along well. You're not even adopted yet, right?"
"She has been my governess for a while now."
"Lady Rebecca was personally educated by my grandmother. It makes sense that Lady Sara is so graceful."
"I'm honored to receive your praise."
"But to think you could contain a royal's magic surge so easily. I wonder how much more you plan to surprise me, Lady Sara."
"You don't seem that surprised, though."
"I was taught not to show too much emotion. At first, I was shocked by your violin performance, but I was also impressed by your intelligence when you spoke as the representative of Maiden's Tower. Well, the biggest surprise was your magic power, which easily surpassed mine, and your incredible control. You were singing while doing it, right?"
"Ah, yes, I did sing."
"The singing was great, but in terms of surprise, it was more like a bonus. I hope Crown Prince Gerhart doesn't find out."
Just then, a voice called out.
"Unfortunately, I heard everything perfectly."
There stood Crown Prince Gerhart in casual loungewear, with Marquis Grandchester behind him, holding his head in his hands.
