Volume 12 Chapter 42 The Last Magic
Right now, the toughest thing is that the fire from Lævateinn is burning my chakra.
The second eye, the Ajna chakra. As long as this is being burned, I have no way to resist Loki's reality-altering ability.
But, I have my friends. Strong, reliable friends.
"Sandra, come here!"
"I'm here!"
I don't know where she was listening from, but Sandra jumps out from Typhon, leaving behind a trail of electricity as she lands beside us. Then she spots Loki and strikes a pose, saying, "Achoo!"
She has never said "Achoo" before, has she?
"Sandra, Loki can show illusions and then use sorcery to turn those illusions into reality. If you get killed in the illusion, it becomes real, so if you feel something is off, use your Ajna chakra before you get attacked."
"My eyes will get destroyed, though."
"Just hang in there. I'll fight somehow too."
"Got it. I trust Wade."
While we were talking, Ice moves away from me and has a frozen soldier carry Toxy as they escape. Only one ice bird lands on my shoulder. It seems like it will help me.
Loki doesn't seem interested in Ice and the others, ignoring them completely. She stares at me without blinking.
"...You really plan to stop having fun~. Otherwise, you won't rely on everyone, huh~..."
"Yeah. I'm planning to win."
"Hmm... I don't know what kind of tricks you have up your sleeve, but what Loki does won't change~♡."
Loki swings Lævateinn.
"First, I'll kill my master. After that, I'll kill everyone. I'll turn everyone into demons and we'll be a happy family~♡."
"Haha, if I lose, do whatever you want. But that won't happen."
I shot back with a taunt and chanted a curse.
Alright, here we go. Use all my magic power.
"Object Point Shift."
With my words, all the rubble in the Demon King's city began to rise into the sky above the Demon King's castle.
"...What are you doing?"
The scene was so strange that Loki asked me with a tense expression. I shrugged and smiled sarcastically.
"Who knows? Take a guess."
As I said that, I twisted my body and shouted without hesitation.
"Everyone! Bow your heads!"
At those words, my allies crouched down. Meanwhile, Typhon jumped up at the same time.
I extended Durandal and swung it in one swift motion.
I commanded Durandal to activate the ability enhancement effect from the second throat, Vishuddha Chakra. Since that was still available, I stretched and contracted Durandal beyond its limits, sweeping through the entire city.
Three monsters couldn't keep up and got their feet cut off. Loki managed to dodge skillfully. Then, all the buildings in the city turned into a mountain of rubble.
I calculated in my mind. Enough. It should be enough. With this much, it's definitely sufficient. My magic seal told me so.
Loki stood up and said to me.
"What was that? Just a flashy attack? Master, are you underestimating me?"
"Loki, you're not dodging it. That was my best shot."
"Hehe, liar~♡"
"Haha. Do you get it?"
Above the Demon King's castle, a sphere of rubble began to form. It was growing larger by the second.
But, not yet. It's still not enough. The amount of rubble in the city is sufficient, so I need to buy time until I can gather all the debris into the sky with gravity magic.
I whisper to Sandra.
"I can't use magic for a while. I'm out of mana. As you know, I don't have any chakra either, so all my defense will be up to you, Sandra."
"Leave it to me. I'll protect you, Wade."
"...Thanks. I really appreciate it, Sandra."
My mana is currently being drained by the last move I'm preparing──the final magic. I've trained to fight even with low mana, so I can swing Durandal, but I can't do much more than that.
So, I stand next to Sandra, facing Loki. Loki has the same mischievous smile on her face, but her eyes show a look she didn't have when it was just the two of us.
...She's clearly angry. I quietly tell Sandra, "Be careful."
And then, in the next moment.
"Being careful is useless~."
Loki moves behind us and stabs a blade into the necks of me and Sandra. I let out a gasp and grit my teeth, glaring at Loki.
But it didn't affect Sandra.
"'Indra'."
The blade embedded in my body, the blood gushing out. Everything fades away like an illusion. However, Loki, holding Lævateinn, closes in on Sandra.
"This is the end~!"
Loki's blade slashes at Sandra. And then──
"It won't hit."
Swadistana Chakra. The baby chakra of Sandra prevents any attack against her.
"Huh, why?"
"Loki, have you ever seen my evasion? It won't break unless you pour in a massive amount of power. It's a fully automatic evasion ability. Fenrir broke through it with just one charge, though."
Sandra takes her stance. In her hand, she grips Raitei Keraunous.
"A single swing of a sword won't break Swadistana Chakra."
Lightning rains down on Loki.
"Ahhhhhh!"
Loki couldn't evade the lightning and was struck by Zeus's thunder, exploding. Seeing this, Sandra remains calm.
"Since you're not huge like everyone else, it's easier. The attacks actually work too."
"...Sandra, could it be that you have a good match with Loki...?"
As I ask with doubt, Sandra shakes her head.
"Not really."
Sandra's eyes close. Blood bursts from her eyelids. I look at Loki, realizing Sandra's Ajna Chakra has been shattered.
Loki stands there without a single scratch, jokingly glaring at Sandra, saying, "That hurt~!"
"Geez! Just because Loki can revive no matter what form she takes doesn't mean you can do whatever you want!"
"...Sandra, can you revive your Ajna Chakra?"
"The chakra... is fine. But, the crushed eye will take a little time. I'm not good with Anahata Chakra."
"Got it. Then, just hurry and open your Ajna Chakra. I'll handle the physical fight."
I ready Durandal again. Loki licks her lips and looks at both me and Sandra, saying, "Yeah, I might have licked a bit~."
This is where it starts. From here, the battle definitely won't end. I've lost my chakra, and Sandra has been physically blinded. In this state, we need to hold out until the final magic is complete.
"Sandra."
"I know. 'Indra'."
Even with her eyes gone, Ajna chakra opens up inside Sandra.
Loki tries to crush it with her hand, so I charge in.
"Ugh! Are you really planning to seal my illusions!?"
"Yeah, that's right! And you know what!"
While clashing swords with Loki, I smirk.
"I've already lost my chakra! To me now, Lævateinn is just a sword!"
"What!? No way! That's unfair! So unfair!"
"You're the one being unfair!"
I use my strength to knock Loki's sword away. Then I swing sideways. Loki blocks it with her sword, but a thin cut appears.
"If it's just a sword fight, I don't plan on losing, Loki!"
"Whoa! Hehehe! Didn't you say you'd fight calmly!?"
"That's just a play on words!"
I start to rain down blows with Durandal from above. Loki somehow manages to block it with her thin arms, but eventually, she collapses.
"Hey, hey! Am I going to win before the big magic even happens!?"
I press the attack on the fallen Loki, aiming Durandal at her torso.
Then.
An interruption came.
"Whoa!"
"What!?"
A strange demon charges at us. Its eyes are spewing blue flames, and it's clear that it's not in a normal state.
"Ugh, who are you guys!?"
But still, it's just a weak demon. If I swing Durandal, it falls easily.
However.
And with that, Loki found an opening to act.
"First, let's blind Sandra-sama~."
"Ugh."
Sandra's Ajna chakra was crushed again. Her eyes were covered in blood, and she remained unable to move.
"All that's left is to kill master with an illusion, and it’ll be over~!"
Loki snapped her fingers. The sound echoed, and immediately after, Loki’s blade pierced through me from behind.
"────!!"
It’s over. That word flashed through my mind. Time seemed to slow down, like a reel of memories passing before me.
If I get killed, with my Anahata chakra burning, I won’t be able to resurrect. So, is it really over? Is this truly the end────?
"Domain Control, 'Helheim.'"
Then.
"Hey, you two useless apprentices. Don’t go showing such pathetic behavior. It’s embarrassing."
Ice's Domain Control, Mudi (the master), intervened.
"!!"
Loki became agitated, and the illusion was broken.
"Still, hmm. A Domain Control that makes fate limitless under certain conditions, huh? Interesting concept. It’s true that right now, you can’t be killed by any means."
"Mudi!"
"Good grief. Ice dragged me here by force using Domain Control, so I guess I have no choice but to save you. Be grateful, you idiot apprentice."
Mudi looked at Loki with a defiant grin. Loki clicked her tongue and, puffing out her cheeks, complained, "Teaming up to bully a little girl like me, aren’t you ashamed~?"
"A little girl? You’re a damn old geezer with thousands of years on you!"
"Right now, I'm a girl~!"
Loki dodged Mudi's close-range attack and swung her sword. Lævateinn passed harmlessly through Mudi, and Loki clenched her fists, shouting, "Even my master's master has automatic evasion!? No fair~!"
Mudi's eyes squint. "Tch," Mudi clicks his tongue.
But I won't let her have that opening.
I raise Durandal and close in. I clash swords with Loki again. The sound of metal grinding fills the air as the two legendary weapons spark.
"Ugh...! Seriously, Master, you're such a pain!"
"You're one to talk, Loki!"
From the side, the eye demon attacks again. I keep the sword clash going and kick the demon away.
But with that tiny opening, Loki strikes. Her sword cuts into me. I get a small wound on my body.
"Looks like illusions won't work here!"
"'Indra'."
Sandra, who had wiped the blood from her eyes and revived, chants a spell. Since she's staring at me with her Ajna chakra, Loki's illusion doesn't activate.
"Attack them both! Hel's minions!"
In a fit of anger, Loki sends the eye demons that had gathered around us toward Sandra and the others. But with Mudi already recovered in front, it doesn't mean much.
"Hah! You weaklings!"
Mudi kicks the eye demons away. The demons, who seem to be Hel's minions, are sent flying by Mudi's attacks.
"Over here! Fenrir! Help me!"
"Leave it to me!"
Among the monsters drawn to Typhon, Fenrir jumps out and forcefully rescues Loki. The impact sends me flying, and I roll over the rubble, getting all scratched up.
"Damn it! I got hit!"
I stand up, covered in soot, but Loki is already far away, settled on Fenrir's back. I leap forward, trying to close the distance with my body alone.
But, Loki's hand moves much faster.
"Ah!" "Tch! Not again!"
Sandra, Mudi's Ajna chakra gets crushed. Blood bursts from their eyes. This brings Loki's illusion back.
"Even after coming this far, I won't let my guard down~! Master! This is the end!"
'Woooorraaaaaaaah!'
A roar. Everyone looked at Typhon because of the loud voice. Then, we witnessed what Typhon did.
"Huh?"
"Whoa."
Loki gasped, and I realized I was going to get caught up in this too, so I barely managed to change direction.
But it was coming at me, speeding up. No way, damn it, seriously? What do I do now?!
I ran desperately, just barely avoiding it.
Surtr, thrown by Typhon, fell right above Loki, crushing her and Fenrir.
"Hyahhhhh!?"
"No way, are you serious?!"
Loki and Fenrir's screams overlapped as they got crushed by Surtr. I felt my heart racing as Surtr's foot fell right in front of me, and I let out a sigh of relief as I landed.
Right after that, Loki appeared on top of Surtr. Everyone's second eye, the Ajna chakra, hadn't revived yet, so this must be an illusion to escape.
And then, it became reality. Loki's unscathed form was true, and she stood there without any exhaustion.
"Ugh! So stubborn! So persistent! What is everyone doing!? I can't fight at all like I thought!"
"Domain Control 'Helheim'."
"Ugh!"
The moment I heard Ice's voice, multiple ice birds pierced through Loki's body, skipping the process. Looking under the voice, Ice and Toxy were standing side by side.
"Bird strike, huh...!" "And I coated it with my special poison!"
"Ugh, this, this pressure...!"
Loki's face turned pale all at once, and she staggered, dropping to one knee.
It was an unavoidable attack using Ice's Domain Control (Helheim), combined with Toxy's mysterious poison. It was a combo that could completely shut down a weaker god.
"Loki... no, Rollo-chan. ...I'm not going to lose to you!"
Ice said.
"I've been trying to make Wade-kun happy for a long, long time...! I won't let someone like you, who just showed up now, take that away from me...!"
"Ugh, ah... oh, no...!"
Loki tried to gather all her strength to stand up, but she collapsed again, coughing up blood. Then, in a voice that seemed to fade away, she said,
"Jormu... gand, do it."
Right after those words, everything was swept away.
The tail of the world serpent Jormungand swung, blowing everyone who was focused on Loki away. We were thrown onto the rubble, rolling on the ground, battered and bruised.
The only ones who barely managed to stand were me and Mudi. Even Mudi was crushed further by Jormungand, and in the distance, Typhon was also collapsing.
"...Is this really, really the end~?"
Before I knew it, Loki, who had neutralized the poison, was standing just a few meters away from me. I could only laugh, "Haha..." There was no other choice. None of us could resist Loki anymore.
───Only. Except for my big magic.
"...Loki. Look up."
"What now...? ...Huh?"
Loki looked up at my words.
What was there was a huge. Really huge sphere made of rubble. A massive chunk that could rival Jormungand.
The reason I was able to lift this rubble after struggling so much just to lift Typhon was simple.
It was all because of the preparation for the great magic. I felt like the god were lending me their power.
"W-what, what is that..."
"Whoa... it's huge..."
Jormungand said "huge" of all things, and I couldn't help but laugh in my ragged state.
"Loki, this is just the preparation. With this much, I can crush Jormungand, but I can't defeat you, right?"
"...M-master, is there more beyond this...?"
"Well, just watch."
I grinned and added the chant "Deep Gravity." The concept attack power was granted at the center of the giant rubble sphere.
With this, the preparations were complete. What a troublesome magic, I thought.
But this was the end. Just as Loki said, it was the end.
"This is the final magic of gravity magic, the great magic of completion. And it's the magic that will defeat you, Loki."
At my words, Loki trembled greatly. Looking around, Jormungand and everyone else were also staring at the giant mass above, shaking.
That trembling was surely not just fear. Everyone probably had a sense of foreboding.
──That something unavoidable was about to appear.
And so that fear bound everyone, preventing them from interfering with me.
Yet still, Loki bravely replied in a trembling voice.
"How do you plan to defeat Loki with that huge pile of rubble!? I told you! Loki is destined to never lose in Ragnarok!"
I shot back at that.
"So, if Ragnarok gets destroyed, you're just a regular god, right?"
"...Huh?"
Smirking at Loki's confused face, I pointed at the rubble ball and said.
"Activate."
A deep sound echoed.
It was a low, dull, and loud noise that resonated through the city.
Everyone was staring at the massive ball made of rubble.
The deep sound echoed again. Over and over.
With each echo, the rubble ball shrank more and more.
"Ah... ah..."
Everyone was glued to the scene, terrified by its strangeness. Even Loki, so close to victory, was frozen in place, captivated by the rubble ball.
The rubble ball shrank down to the size of Fenrir, then Surtr. It kept shrinking until it was the size of a building, then a carriage, then a human.
But the shrinking wasn't over yet.
As the sound grew louder, the rubble ball shrank down to the size of a fist. Slowly, it descended towards me. The rubble ball began to turn pitch black, floating at my fingertips.
It was a tiny, tiny, pitch-black sphere, no bigger than a piece of my fingertip.
Its size was extremely small, just a fraction of the first joint of my finger. It was so small that it was hard to see if I looked away for a moment.
Yet, it radiated an undeniable presence. Just being near it sent chills down everyone's spine, and everyone except me was pinned in place, unable to move.
"...Master, please. You think you can win against Loki with just that tiny orb...?"
Even as she said this, Loki's legs trembled so much she could barely stand. She tried to act tough, but even now, she wouldn't admit defeat.
"Yes, that's right. This is Loki's only way to defeat you."
"With just that one orb... I, I won't lose. ──I won't lose...!"
And with that, Loki tore through the fear of the great magic.
Loki charged forward recklessly. Swinging Lævateinn, she let out a roar, "Aaaahhhhhh!" as she rushed to deliver the final blow to me.
But the outcome had already been decided.
"Great magic, Micro Black Hole."
I whispered.
"Target: Ragnarok."
───With that one phrase, everything was settled.
