Chapter 257 The Children Of Grandchester Learning

The 5 of them returned to the classroom after finishing the magic circle experiment, believing they could start learning the magic language right away. However, in the next moment, they were filled with despair at Alicia's words.

"About learning this magic language, there isn't much information available in any country since it's a unique skill. Even if there is some, it's only a small part. This is the same in Avalon, where the materials related to the magic language are kept in a special viewing room. Only those who have permission from the royal family can access them."

"Then, how did you, Miss Alicia, learn the magic language?"

"I read copies of original materials excavated from ancient civilization ruins. I also reference some materials from my father and grandfather. So, first, you all will need to learn Mithras, the language of the ancient civilization."

Sara wasn't surprised since she already knew, but the other 4 froze in shock.

"Is there a translation into Avalon?"

 Chloe asked cautiously.

"There are some, but the content of the publicly available materials is often terrible... If I correct the parts that seem to be misinterpreted, it quickly becomes filled with notes. The accurate ones are probably not public. Also, my grandfather's and father's materials aren't written much in Avalon. Many expressions in Mithras are difficult to translate well into Avalon."

 "Sara, can you understand Mithras?"

"Don't have weird expectations. I only know the very basics. I only know a tiny bit about the magic language too."

'But if I could get help from Magi, I have a feeling our research would really progress...'

"Actually, I heard that in the Academy's magic and alchemist departments, students can join research labs if they can use Mitras language at a practical level. And my father said that if you understand magic language at an intermediate level, you can get funding from the government for research. I don't know if that's true, though."

"Hey, Sara, there's no way I could learn magic language!"

"No one said it was easy. If it were easy, don't you think the world would be a lot more convenient?"

"That's true, but I didn't think it would be this hard!"

At that moment, Christopher quietly muttered.

"Hey, could it be that the Paracelsus materials include research on magic language too, Miss Alicia?"

"Oh, about 60% of the Paracelsus materials are research documents on magic language."

"Are they written in Avalon language?"

"They're written in Avalon language, Mitras language, and for some reason, a mysterious language that only Lady Sara can read. It seems like the founder of the Grandchester family also used that language, but there are too many types of characters for me to understand."

In that instant, Chloe and Christopher turned to Sara with wide eyes.

"Sara, there must be a lot of materials you can read!"

"I'm not saying I don't have any materials. But Paracelsus himself wrote that learning Mithras language is essential, so I think that's knowledge we can't skip."

Then Scott spoke up with a worried tone.

"Could it be that the materials on Paracelsus from Maiden's Tower are more valuable than the ones in the Academy's special reading room?"

"That might be true. After all, Mr. Theofrastos and the alchemists from Grandchester are crying because they can't get in."

"I'm sorry, my father is causing trouble."

Alicia looked troubled as she apologized.

"Don't worry about it. It's not your fault, Alicia. It's a hundred times better than those guys from the Academy."

"If that's the case, shouldn't we protect it more strictly?"

"There are so many golems inside and outside."

"...I guess it does seem safe."

"Right? But I am a little worried. Hey Alicia, how about we research defensive magic tools together sometime? I want to create features like repelling intruders, sounding alarms, or notifying someone."

 "Oh, that sounds interesting."

 Scott looked exasperated.

"I always think this, but Ms. Alicia really has an amazing talent for turning Sara's loose ideas into actual magic tools."

"Scott thinks so too, huh? Our Alicia is amazing!"

"Why are you looking so proud, Sara?"

"Still, the amazing one is Lady Sara, who believes in us and doesn't hold back on money or materials."

"Exactly! Amelia and Teresa are amazing too!"

"I see. So this is what they call the bond of maidens."

Then Sara made a serious face.

"Scott. The maidens are amazing, but I also think the farmers who grow wheat and Elma are incredible, and I respect the people who make alcohol. All the craftsmen involved in making products, the women in the villages doing home-based work, and the employees of the merchant guild who work hard to turn those products into cash are all really important and deserve our appreciation."

"I see, that makes sense. So, do you think the knights who are protecting us can be included with Sara's amazing people?"

 "Of course!"

"Oh, by the way, my father wanted to do joint training with the golems. He thinks the Maiden's Tower might be targeted in the future."

"Yeah, that could be true. Especially with what happened with the academy people recently."

Alicia quickly returned to the podium and called out to everyone.

"That's it for today's lesson. Sir Adam's class should be ending soon, so let's have some tea time."

 Then Amelia chimed in.

"I've prepared a herbal tea that smells like muscat grapes today."

"I wonder what effects it has?"

 Chloe asked with great interest.

"It has a magic recovery effect. Since it's a new blend, it should be even more effective than before. I've also prepared some for you to take home, so please enjoy it there too."

As the 5 of them left the classroom, Adam was also packing up his things after having one-on-one reading and writing training with Cordelia, the female educator, near the care desk.

"Adam, are you done with your class too?"

"Yeah. It's tiring to go non-stop like this. It's fun, though."

When Sara called out, Adam, looking a bit tired, waved back with a cheerful smile.

However, Cordelia, who had been teaching the whole time, showed no signs of fatigue and had a dignified presence.

"Sir Adam's reading and writing have improved quite a bit. From next time, let's aim to learn the basics of math. Once he understands it to a certain level, I'll have him solve word problems. He might not get trick questions wrong as easily as before, so I'll have to put extra effort into creating the problem statements."

"Miss Cordelia, do you perhaps enjoy making trick questions?"

"I could say it's one of my favorite things."

Cordelia replied with a playful smile to Sara's question. It's interesting how people have all sorts of hobbies.

"Then I'll prepare a multiplication table by next time. I'll write it on a big wooden board so it can be used in the school classroom even after we're done with it."

 "That sounds great!"

The children's learning at Grandchester was going quite well.
