Chapter 267 The Princess Is Overdoing It
After eating a special lunch made by Ms. Sylvia (which was really delicious), Sara and Alicia went straight back to Maiden's Tower without stopping by Alicia's family home. It seems that when Alicia, who is treated like a princess in her family, shows up, they have a hard time letting her leave.
"Ms. Sylvia is amazing in so many ways."
"She's actually the elder of my family."
"Calling her an elder feels off; she's more like an empress. How does she get along with all the women who marry into the family?"
"The men in our family often marry the women Sylvia introduces. She's popular with the ladies too."
"Ah, I can kind of understand why people admire Ms. Sylvia. But she doesn't have any blood ties to the family, right? By the way, what happened to the child Ms. Sylvia had?"
"She had a daughter who married a man from another territory. That man has already passed away, but she has grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they exchange letters. They sometimes come to visit."
"I see."
When Alicia's carriage arrived at Maiden's Tower, the first servant came over. It seemed that while they were out, a letter from Marquis Grandchester had arrived, and the first servant had been holding onto it.
----
I received a report from Jeffrey.
I'm sorry for making you feel uncomfortable.
Could you please come back to the main residence?
Let me apologize to Sara in person.
Could I have some time soon?
I know Sara is busy, but I'm waiting for a reply.
William Madis Grandchester
----
'Did Grandfather really send it as a formal letter? Did I make him anxious?'
Sara quickly put away the letter from Marquis Grandchester into her storage space and turned to Alicia.
"By the way, are you ready to meet Mr. Paracelsus?"
"Hey, don't make me nervous."
"But he's your great-grandfather."
"I've never met him, so he's just a stranger to me. Plus, he's the one who wrote all those huge documents, right? Of course, I'm nervous!"
"Well, if he has lived for 300 years, he must have written a lot. There were plenty of other books too."
"Should we skip it today?"
"No way. If we wait longer, you'll just get more nervous, so it's better to keep this momentum."
"Got it. Then let's head to the Secret Garden."
Alicia nodded.
Sara turned to the knight guards and told them to wait at the entrance of Maiden's Tower, citing the presence of golems on the grounds.
"Miss Sara, I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. Is it true that you're going to meet Mr. Paracelsus?"
"Yes, that's right."
"Shouldn't such matters be reported to His Excellency the Marquis?"
"Why? Paracelsus and Grandfather aren't in a working relationship anymore, right?"
"Well, but..."
"I guess it can't be helped. The Grandchester knights swear loyalty to the lord."
Sara sighed softly, took out some writing tools from her storage space, and wrote a small note.
----
No need to apologize.
I think it's necessary to discuss what comes next, so after the royal family returns, I will go back to the main residence for a while.
Also, I will be meeting with Mr. Paracelsus from now on.
Please follow the instructions of 'the one who unravels the wisdom of the ancestors' regarding this matter.
Your presence is not required.
Sara Grandchester
----
Sara handed this note to one of her guards and instructed him to deliver it to Marquis Grandchester.
"Regarding this matter, my grandfather will not interfere with my actions. So, everyone, please wait here."
This time, the knights bowed their heads and stepped aside without bothering Sara.
However, there were already some guests in the Secret Garden. Four people: Amelia, Thomas, Scott, and Blaze. It seemed they were studying plants, as Scott and Blaze were eagerly sketching the plants.
Scott noticed Sara and greeted her.
"Hey, Sara. Welcome back."
"I'm back. You weren't in class today, huh?"
"Yeah, um..."
From beside the oddly hesitant Scott, Blaze chimed in mischievously.
"Mister Thomas said it would be better to sketch when Sara isn't around."
"Oh, come on, Blaze!"
'Oh, I see. Is that so?'
It's true that in Sara's hands, any herb could look like a man-eating plant.
"I don't think I've ever shown Mister Thomas my drawings..."
"Ah, no, um..."
"You heard it from Miss Rebecca, didn't you? Well, it's true, so it can't be helped."
"I just overheard a bit while discussing the children's curriculum. So, I'm sorry. But I found it a bit interesting that Ms. Sara has things she's not good at."
"You just said 'interesting,' didn't you?"
However, the people around couldn't hold back and burst out laughing all at once.
"Hey, isn't everyone being too harsh!?"
Once the laughter settled down, Blaze asked Sara a question.
"By the way, what did you come here for, Sara?"
"I came to see Mr. Paracelsus."
"Wait, he's an ancient person, right?"
"Well, if you think about how long he's been alive, then yes. He's the one who made friends with fairies. I don't know why, but apparently, he's sleeping here because he's tired."
"Usually, 'sleeping here' is something you carve on a tombstone, isn't it, Sara?"
Scott quickly chimed in. Then, Sara replied.
"Literally, it seems he's just sleeping here. The fairies know where he is, so let's ask them. Fairies, can anyone tell me where Mr. Paracelsus is sleeping?"
When Sara called out to the fairies flying around, they all gathered around her and spoke up.
"If you give us magic power, we'll gladly help!"
"Do you want to be my friend?"
"Let's play together!"
As many fairies started to play around Sara and tug at her hair, it got really noisy and chaotic.
Then Amelia, who was nearby, stepped forward in front of the fairies and spoke.
"Okay, everyone, please be quiet. Sara is having a hard time, right?"
"Okay!"
"Got it!"
'Wait, what? Is Amelia a fairy tamer? More like a daycare worker, though?'
"Everyone (fairies) listens to Amelia, huh?"
"Well, she's in the flower garden every day."
"Amelia gives us magic and cookies!"
"Is that like feeding?"
"It's the most effective way to keep them quiet, Sara."
"I see."
With Amelia's help, they spent 10 minutes gathering information from the fairies, and found out that Paracelsus is located near a rock at the very back of the flower garden.
'Amelia is clearly loved by the fairies. It's surprising that she can't name the fairy yet.'
It was strange that the fairies, who usually show little interest in anyone but their bonded partners, were so attached to Amelia.
When Sara first came to the Secret Garden, it looked like a wild thicket with plants growing everywhere, but thanks to Amelia's hard work, it has returned to a neat garden. Of course, it's also thanks to the cooperation of the fairies she fed.
As they walked along the well-maintained path, they finally reached the place where Paracelsus was sleeping. There were small letters carved into the rock that said,
----
If you're going to wake me up, you could at least get me a coffee.
----
'So, if you're going to wake me up, at least prepare some coffee? It really feels like they're thoroughly searching for reincarnators.'
Fortunately, when Sara met Crown Prince Gerhart as Sophia, she had received some coffee as a souvenir, so she quickly used earth magic to create a mug and poured in a rich espresso-like coffee using fire and water magic.
She tried it when she was with Sophia, and it was pretty good. She seriously wanted an espresso maker for Maiden's Tower. There seem to be other types of beans, but the only ones brought in by Crown Prince Gerhart were these deep-roasted beans.
After throwing the coffee into the storage space where time had stopped, Sara gently touched it with both hands and flowed her magic into it.
Then, the rock quickly turned into particles of light and disappeared, revealing a staircase below.
'I'm starting to feel like I'm playing an RPG.'
"Whoa!"
However, this mechanism seemed to excite Blaze. He was super thrilled by the suddenly appeared staircase. Meanwhile, the other members were in shock. Alicia was even standing there with her mouth hanging open.
"Alicia, what are you so surprised about? It's your ancestor, right?"
"Well, he is my great-grandfather, but this is such an extravagant setup, it's ridiculous."
But it seemed like the staircase didn't have any automatic lighting, so Sara created a glowing orb with light magic and tied it to the end of a stick she found nearby. It was like a makeshift torch.
At the bottom of the staircase, there was a small wooden door, and since it wasn't locked, they just went inside.
It seemed that the area beneath the Secret Garden was entirely a basement. There were windows for light here and there, and ventilation holes were also set up.
'They covered such a large facility with plants, huh?'
In the center of the room, a large magical device was sitting, still under construction. It seemed that Paracelsus was trying to create a Magi here. Alicia and Sara understood immediately. Probably, it had been left unfinished because he was lacking magic stones.
And beyond that, there was a mysterious object surrounded by thorns. As they got closer, a fairy appeared and spoke to Sara.
"Hello, young lady. Do you need something?"
"My name is Sara. I came to wake Mr. Paracelsus."
"I'm sorry, but only someone who can read his words can wake him."
"Of course I know. 'Cogito, ergo sum.' Please wake up!"
In the next moment, the fairies began to spin around, shining light, and the thorns slowly dissolved and disappeared. Beyond that was a bed covered by a glass-like dome.
"Mr. Fairy, I hate to say this, but your friend is a man over 300 years old, right?"
"Oh, my name is Arata. Licht is definitely a man, and he's 350 years old this year."
"Still, I think the setup is way too princess-like. I don't know if he ate a poisoned Elma or got pricked by a spinning needle, but there's no way I'm kissing him!"
"That's not our fault. It's totally Licht's taste!"
"That's a terrible taste. So, can I break that glass dome?"
"Sara, you're a girl, but you're a bit rough. I'll open it, so just wait a moment."
Arata shone light on the glass dome and quietly made it disappear.
"I think you can just wake him normally now, Sara."
"I'm starting to find this annoying. Can I splash water on him?"
"If you just call out to him, he'll wake up! Don't do anything reckless!"
"I guess I have no choice."
Sara approached Licht, formerly known as Paracelsus, and called out to him.
"Mr. Licht. It's time to wake up."
Then Licht began to stir on the bed, mumbling, "Ugh..."
