Chapter 269 What Was My 300 Years About?
"It seems I lost my job while I was sleeping, but living off royalties might not be so bad after all."
"After working for 40 years, it's normal to get fired. Just keep writing, okay? By the way, your wife is waiting for you at home. Since the tower has already become our workplace, you probably don't have a place to live now."
"Come on, the tower is big enough for my room, right?"
"That tower is called 'Maiden's Tower,' and men are not allowed inside without permission. Even with permission, you can't stay there."
"It sounds like a convent."
"During the day, the boys come there to study, so there are quite a few guys around."
Rihito thinks for a moment.
"Is it not okay for me to sleep in this room?"
"Well, this place only has a half-finished Magi besides the bed. There's no toilet or kitchen, so isn't it inconvenient?"
"Can you really tell that's a Magi?"
"Well, I can made it, after all."
"Huhhhhh!?"
Rihito shouted, his voice echoing throughout the room, and then he froze for a moment. Sara figured he was in a state of shock and decided to leave him be.
"Um, I've been researching that thing for over 100 years, so how can you make it so easily?"
"Thanks to your materials and Alicia's talent, I guess."
"Wait a minute. What about the magic stone? Even when I asked Gil, he got mad and said, 'Can we really risk the finances of the territory that much?'."
"Oh, I prepared the magic stone myself."
Sara called out to the fairies in the air.
"Mike, Pochi, are you around?"
"I'm here!"
"I'm here!"
"Why am I not being called, I wonder?"
Not only Mike and Pochi, but even the uninvited Sedrick showed up.
"It's a really simple errand, but I need you to bring back a golem that's working as a librarian in the tower."
"Got it. I'll be right back."
Mike quickly disappeared into the fairy path.
"These kids are Sara's friends, right?"
"Yeah. The ones who went on the errand are Mike, Pochi, and Sedrick."
"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Rihito."
"The sleepyhead finally woke up. I knew you were here, but I didn't say anything because I knew Arata was protecting you."
"Thanks for that."
"But once Sara got this tower, she found you in no time."
"I left some hints in the materials room."
Just then, the library golem "ran" over.
"You came quickly. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
Rihito stared at the golem and after observing it for about 5 seconds, he burst out laughing.
"Hey Sara, why did you make the design look so much like a certain studio? It makes me think you want it to say 'Ghibli'!"
"The first image I had was this design."
Then the librarian golem started to speak.
"Miss Sara, could you please change the body design? It's a bit inconvenient for being a librarian."
"Oh, I see. How do you want it to look?"
"I want it to have a vibe that fits in with the other maids, but it's tricky because it will consume more magic power."
"I understand your request. If you can return to your standby place by yourself when you run low on magic, I can redesign it for you."
"That won't be a problem."
Suddenly, Sara felt a mischievous urge.
"Mister Thomas, is it okay if I make a golem that looks like a female version of you?"
"Me!?"
"Yes, you're the most beautiful person I know."
"I feel a bit complicated about this, but I don't mind. But why a female form?"
"Because you're the librarian of the Maiden's Tower."
"I see. But if the librarian is too good, it makes me worried about my future."
"Don't worry. I have plenty of work I want to give you."
Sara smirked and returned the golem's body to the soil, leaving just the unit. Next, she replaced the magic stone inside the unit with a larger one and began to create the golem, expanding the image of Thomas as a woman. Of course, the outfit was a maid uniform.
"I swapped the magic stone that stores magical power, but does it feel weird?"
"No. It feels fine. This body is easy to move."
"Even so, Mister Thomas looks beautiful as a woman."
However, Rihito, who was watching this, shouted loudly for the second time.
"What the heck is thattt!?"
"It's a golem. It's a recent technological innovation."
"If you make it this detailed, it's not okay. Don't you think there will be problems if it doesn't look like a doll at least?"
"I won't go overboard. The magic consumption is too high. Even with that size of magic stone, it can only operate for one day, which isn't practical. This is the second golem I've made with a living body. I feel like it might be 3, though."
"Which is it?"
"I'm using the same unit to switch between a child version and an adult version."
"Could it be, Sara's copy robot?"
"You're really sharp, aren't you?"
Rihito suddenly started to look downcast.
"What was my 300 years for...?"
"Oh, by the way, I read that note where you said, 'I wish I could make a cuter doll. It's not cute at all. I wish I had the talent to make figures.'."
"Ughhh. I thought no one would read it since it was in Japanese."
"What are you talking about? Just a little while ago, you whispered, 'I have been waiting for you for a long time.' You were waiting for the reincarnator, right?"
"I never thought someone would read such an old note."
Feeling embarrassed, Rihito crouched down and covered his face with his hands. Sara giggled and patted Rihito on the shoulder.
"Because I read all of Rihito's materials, Alicia and I were able to complete Magi. Plus, since the basic research on magic stones was solid, I can now create high-purity magic stones. I can even replenish magical power!"
"Seriously...? I thought it was theoretically possible, but I was struggling with how to narrow down the attributes of magical power."
Then Alicia, who was nearby, spoke to Rihito in a strong tone.
"I understand. We went through the same trial and error. But it's a fact that we could achieve this because great-great-grandfather did research in the past. For our family, the great Paracelsus is a source of pride!"
"I see... Aren't you disappointed that I'm just a person like this?"
"Absolutely not!"
Amelia nodded in agreement as well.
"Your presence is very important to us as pharmacists. Especially the materials related to the human body, I've copied them and read them over and over until they fell apart. This also includes the materials about the tiny creatures that cause diseases."
"For the first 100 years or so, I was desperately writing things like that. I felt like I had to write down everything I remembered before I forgot. Well, I still don't really understand the amount of magical power stored or the circulation in the body, though."
Rihito smiled a little awkwardly as he looked at Alicia and Amelia.
"You two are great researchers. It seems like Maiden's Tower is a really good workplace."
"Thank you very much."
"I'm honored."
The two blushed as they received Rihito's praise.
"You see, Rihito, you should be confident in your achievements. You shouldn't just stay in this inconvenient place; you should proudly go back to your wife."
"Wouldn't it be a bother if I just showed up suddenly?"
"It's fine. Ms. Sylvia herself said she was waiting. Anyway, I don't plan to have any men stay at Maiden's Tower. If you have a reason for not wanting to go to your wife, you can have a room prepared for you at Grandchester Castle, okay?"
"Can I ask how long I can stay at Maiden's Tower? It's okay to be there during the day, right?"
"The children's classes in Grandchester start at 8 AM, so you can come in after 8 AM. I hadn't set a specific time for the night, but do you have any preferences, Alicia?"
"Since there are also bathing arrangements, it would be helpful if we could wrap things up by around 8 PM."
"Alright, then. That's 12 hours from 8 AM to 8 PM. How?"
"Got it. Well, I'll go to Sylvia's house tonight. But, you know... it's fine if Sylvia doesn't have a boyfriend, but if she does, her boyfriend will be worried about me."
"Hmm. I think my knight was making eye contact with her, but I don't think she's dating anyone yet, so it should be okay."
When Sara urged Rihito to go home, Alicia quickly followed up.
"If by any chance Sylvia kicks you out, please go to the main residence. My father will prepare as many rooms as you need."
"Hmm. The house of my great-grandson, huh?"
"Since it's the family estate, it's definitely also great-great-grandfather's house. You can use the lab however you like."
"That's great to hear."
Rihito replied with a smile. But the next moment, he looked at Sara with a very sad expression and spoke in a tiny voice in Japanese.
“(I'm curious about the Maiden's Tower, but more than that, I want to talk slowly with the reincarnated Sara.)”
“(Yeah, I understand. But let's save that for another time. I think it's better if the two of you talk.)”
“(That's true. I've waited this long. I can wait a few more years.)”
“(A few days is fine.)”
Sara responded to Rihito in Japanese and smiled brightly. Then she switched back to Avalon language so others could understand.
"Right now, the ladies are using it, so please hold off at night, but just remember that we're not trying to push Rihito away. Also, the golems here are connected to Magi, so if you ask this one, it can answer most of your questions."
"Wait, you connected the golems and Magi?"
"Of course."
"It's kind of strange for me to say this, but Sara, you're really quite insane."
Everyone in the room nodded at that statement.
