Volume 3 Chapter 2 Gambo

Volume 3 Chapter 2 Gambo

 Gambo.

A boy born in the Log Kingdom, east of the Galatinne Kingdom.

The Log Kingdom is a rocky area, rich in mining resources, but it can't be called a wealthy country.

Gambo's family is of knight status. It's a one-generation title, and if Gambo's father dies, they will return to being commoners.

What did his father do? Gambo doesn't know the details.

But he was proud that his father contributed to the Log Kingdom and earned the title.

To Gambo, his father was an idol.

 So, he said every day.

"My dad is an amazing knight!!"

He said this in the town of Log Kingdom every day.

Because he boasted every day, Gambo grew bigger in both attitude and body, becoming the leader of the kids.

Anyone who made fun of Gambo was hit without mercy.

Before he knew it, the others──though they were just kids──began to fear him.

When Gambo turned ten, he received a skill called 'Hardening.'

It's a combat skill that allows him to harden his body.

 Gambo was happy.

He could train the skill, level up, and become a knight like his father.

 But... the environment was tough.

 Gambo consulted his family.

"Alright. Gambo, I will send you to study in the Galatinne Kingdom."

 His father said strongly.

Thus, Gambo was set to study in the Galatinne Kingdom.

About 6 months before the entrance ceremony, Gambo arrived in the Galatinne Kingdom and attended an open house at the Galatine Royal Academy. There, he met Baron Marcos from the Galatinne Kingdom.

 Knight Gambo, Baron Marcos.

Gambo thought that he would connect with the noble society in the Galatinne Kingdom, so he followed along.

 He fought for Marcos.

Then, he entered the Galatine Royal Academy.

 Gambo met someone.

"Telekinesis? What are you, a loser skill!!"

The boy who used Telekinesis was Elk.

And... Gambo fought Elk and lost.

As a commoner, Gambo was mocked by Marcos and his classmates for losing to the 'useless skill' of Telekinesis.

 Class was about to start.

Gambo stood alone in the hallway.

 "Gambo..."

The one who called out to Gambo was Elk, the one who had defeated him.

* * *

Gambo glared at Elk but quickly looked away.

"What do you want? Did you come to mock me?"

"No. Let's go back to the classroom."

"Shut up!! What do you want, pitying me?"

 "No."

"Because you beat me so badly, I'm like this now!?"

 "...Hey."

 "What!?"

Elk looked straight at Gambo and said.

 "Is that my fault?"

 "...Huh?"

"First of all, it was your fault for making fun of me during my self-introduction, right? I don't think my 'Telekinesis' is a useless skill, and you know how great my Telekinesis is better than anyone."

 "......"

 "I beat you."

 "......"

"I won in a fair match. It was a mutual agreement to fight, and there were no interruptions or dirty tricks, just a straight-up serious battle."

 "......"

"That should be the end. But... that's not it, right?"

 "......"

 "You know it, don't you?"

 "......"

 Gambo looked down.

Elk looked straight at Gambo and said.

"The ones at fault are the people around you. This morning, you tried to stand up to the guy who made fun of you. I stopped you. Then everyone decided, 'You're the bad one,' and started judging you. The class went along with it... to be honest, I really hate those guys in class right now."

 "......!"

"Sure, I was annoyed with you. But... not anymore. I actually like how you face me directly with your opinions and don't back down."

 "...You."

 Gambo finally looked at Elk.

Then, Elk reached out his hand to Gambo.

"Let's make up. Not that we were really fighting or anything."

 "......"

"And, I don't know what you're thinking, and I get you have your own goals, but... don't hang out with those nobles who act like they don't care about you. They're not your friends."

 "......"

 Friends.

He had never thought about that.

It was always about being above or leading below. That was the only kind of relationship he had.

Gambo stared at Elk's hand and then looked at Elk's face.

 Elk smiled widely.

"Y-you're... not an idiot, are you?"

"No, I'm actually pretty smart. Plus, I'm strong."

"Shut... ah, damn it!! I'm sorry for making fun of your Telekinesis, I apologize!! Damn it!!"

 "Ouch!?"

 Gambo slapped Elk's hand.

Elk grimaced in pain... after all, he was human.

He felt pain and made a face.

 That was amusing to Gambo.

 Then, the bell rang.

"Whoa, we gotta get back to class, Gambo!!"

 "Yeah───."

Gambo let out a "phew" as he sighed───.

 "Let's go, 'Elk'."

 "───Got it!"

The two of them started running toward the classroom.

* * *

When they returned to the classroom, their classmates were making a big fuss.

"You made it back, huh?" "Elk, stay away from that guy!"

"Heh, I'm not scared of you!" "Elk, take him on!"

Elk thought it was unbearable to listen to.

Gambo didn't seem to care anymore.

Elk pointed his right hand at his classmates and activated Telekinesis.

Suddenly, their mouths shut tight. They didn't move at all.

 """"""""""...Mmm!?"""""""""

"Hey, instead of talking back to me, why don't you challenge Gambo yourself? Just one-on-one, fair and square. Come on, you all have combat skills, right?"

Elk said this with genuine boredom.

"I really dislike people who gang up on one person and put them down. If you keep making noise..."

Elk showed his left hand and spread his fingers wide.

Nothing happened, but it still seemed to scare his classmates, as their faces turned pale.

When he released Telekinesis, the classmates returned to their seats and fell silent.

At that moment, the teacher, Shakariki, walked in.

"Oh? Did something happen? ...Well, whatever. Let's start class."

 And so, the class began.

Yato, sitting next to him, said with interest,

 "Nice job, you."

 "Huh?"

"I never thought you'd manage to tame that wild guy."

"What's with that (looks like a violent loser) ...?"

 "Hehe, it's the first teammate."

 "Huh?"

 Martial arts tournament, team battle.

The first member of a 3-person team.

Elk, who hadn't thought about that at all, suddenly realized and looked at Gambo.
