Volume 1 Chapter 25 A Normal Breakfast Set Of Cranberry And Walnut Bread, Scrambled Eggs, And Soup

Volume 1 Chapter 25 A Normal Breakfast Set Of Cranberry And Walnut Bread, Scrambled Eggs, And Soup

Lobelia Diner House has three four-seater tables and four chairs at the counter.

It can seat sixteen people, but it's rare to have that many customers packed in.

After all, the store isn't that big, so with the Leonsroar and Saintwise folks combined, the sixteen seats are full. It's packed with muscle.

Oh, the Leonsroar folks are muscular, but the Saintwise folks aren't really muscular.

But many of them are tall and slender, so when the seats are packed, the pressure is immense.

The slightly sweet bread with cranberries and walnuts and the hearty soup are not difficult to serve, as they only need to be plated, but the scrambled eggs need to be made one by one, so it's a bit more work.

Mr. Noctis and Mr. Leavis took the lead, carrying the plated dishes and bringing new plates and bowls.

 "I, I'm busy..."

I was so busy running around that I didn't even have time to complain.

Now, I'm cooking the last scrambled eggs.

I heated butter in a frying pan, and once the butter melted and blended, I poured in the beaten eggs.

The eggs sizzled, and the edges of the runny eggs quickly solidified, so I stirred them with chopsticks.

Before the eggs set completely, I mixed them, and when they were half-solid and half-fluffy, I transferred them to a plate.

I poured tomato sauce over the golden scrambled eggs.

Since this was the last dish, I asked Mr. Noctis and Mr. Leavis to return to their seats and eat.

I'm carrying the scrambled eggs on a plate to Mr. Lucian, who is sitting on a chair at the kitchen counter because there's no more room to sit.

"I'm done, Mr. Lucian. Here's the cranberry and walnut bread, the hearty soup, and the special fluffy scrambled eggs made in the busiest of times."

"Isn't it the Cursed Demon Bread with walnuts, the hearty soup, and the Blood Pool Hell Scrambled Eggs?"

Mr. Lucian, who was quietly waiting for the food on the chair at the counter, tilted his head and said that.

I gently placed the plate on the counter in front of Mr. Lucian.

"Until just recently, I would have said that, but thanks to my friends, I feel a bit better now. So, today's meal has no grudges, sadness or curse in it."

 I said proudly.

Now that I've finished cooking for everyone, I wash my hands, dry them with a cloth, and start preparing the tea.

I've already served tea for Mr. Leavis and Mr. Noctis, so now it's just Mr. Lucian left.

Mr. Lucian looked a bit tired when he returned from the expedition, but today he has regained his usual shine.

His black uniform is nicely washed, and his silky golden hair is styled in a half-updo.

"So, Mr. Lucian. I think nothing will happen if you eat now. I believe the power you're talking about comes from my resentment..."

 "Is that so?"

"Is that so...? But Mr. Lucian, you always say things like, 'Feel more resentment, hate more,' don't you?"

"That's right, Lydia. Of course, I'm also hoping for the special effects of your cooking, but getting angry might feel better, you know, in various ways."

I poured tea into a floral cup and added a slice of lemon.

When I brought it to Mr. Lucian, he said in a gentle voice.

"Eek...! What's going on? I won't be fooled...!"

That feeling he gives off, like he suddenly knows everything about me.

Mr. Lucian is still such a flirt.

Thanks to Sir Ciel, I've reflected a bit.

I don't feel much irritation or sadness right now, and I wonder if it's really okay to insist that I hate all men, so I think I'll stop saying that.

But Mr. Lucian is different. He has this way of casually getting close.

I've heard that women who get within 3m (10ft) of Mr. Lucian end up pregnant. It's scary.

"...Lydia. The walnut and cranberry bread is amazing. The slight sweetness is nice. It feels like energy is bubbling up inside me. Right now, I could run ten laps around the outer wall of the Holy City. The scrambled eggs are delicious too. I can feel my strength rising."

"...Even though I didn't put any grudges into it, why..."

After saying a prayer before the meal, Mr. Lucian started munching on breakfast with a good smile.

 I was shocked and trembling.

 Why is this happening?

I'm not angry today, and I'm not crying either.

"Or that might just be what Mr. Lucian thinks..."

I do want to help with Sir Ciel's research. We're friends, after all. Sir Ciel's research is very important.

But today, I just cooked happily like usual.

I didn't put any resentment into it.

"Well, that's not true. Actually, after eating Lydia's cooking, the hunt for the Gilfernia beetles was very efficient. No matter how much we fought, I felt less tired, and breaking the beetles' hard shells was easy."

"Ugh... Mr. Lucian is saying scary things cheerfully since morning..."

It's not that I dislike talking about monster hunting, but when he says things like breaking them happily, it's scary.

"But, after noon, the effects of the food wore off. That said, we are strong to begin with, so it's not a problem. Still, it's better to have good hunting efficiency. It's best not to get hurt."

"I think it's better not to get hurt, though..."

"If Lydia comes on the expedition with me and makes meals for me in the morning, afternoon, and night, I could become an even stronger man..."

"Isn't that just Mr. Lucian's way of boosting stamina and strength? It might just be in your head."

 "Shall we try it, Lydia?"

 "W-What are we trying...?"

"The best way to see if my stamina has increased is through practice. Plus, I can't accept that a realistic sausage has my name on it."

"I don't really understand, but please eat quickly and go home, Mr. Lucian...!"

After all, it was Mr. Lucian who specified the size of the realistic sausage. Also, I don't know why, but it feels a bit shady.

"If Lydia comes to me, I would do anything..."

"Even if you say that for selfish reasons...!"

 "Please, just this once."

 "I can't just do that..."

Mr. Lucian finished his breakfast set neatly.

"That's not my intention, Lydia. I think of you as a lovely woman."

"That sounds fake, and it's not good to say things like that. I wouldn't be happy hearing it from someone who has a lot of lovers...!"

"I don't have any lovers. Why do you think that?"

 "Because I just do...!"

Mr. Lucian seems a bit more energetic than before he started eating, but I think it's just my imagination. Maybe.

Still, I wonder if the effect of the food is the same whether I'm angry or not.

He said he wanted to investigate my powers, so I should ask Sir Ciel about it next time.

In other words, Mr. Lucian will come whether I'm angry or not. Even from now on.

I don't hate all men, but I do think Mr. Lucian has some good points.

But it seems unlikely that we could become friends.

"...Is the leader of the Leonsroar Knights in heat? Our fairy Ms. Lydia is untouchable because she is a fairy. That is a sacred place. Only Ms. Lydia's friend, Sir Ciel, is allowed to step into that sacred area. A womanizer has no place here."

"No! Our leader is serious. He is seriously trying to woo Ms. Lydia, you know. I admit he has a criminal vibe. However, I can't agree that only Lord Ciel is allowed to step in. Leavis, Captain Lucian is not a womanizer. Women just come to him without him even trying."

 "Isn't that the same?"

"No! Or rather, Lord Ciel is hard to approach. Isn't it true that women are looking at him from a distance with longing eyes?"

"Sir Ciel is solitary. He doesn't even notice any women other than Ms. Lydia."

Mr. Leavis and Mr. Noctis are sitting at the counter, watching us and chatting happily.

I washed the dishes while crying softly.

I think Mr. Noctis should take Mr. Lucian home soon.
