Volume 3 Chapter 44 Dragons Are Often Easily Killed In Light Novels, But Since They Are Said To Be Incarnations Of Gods... That's Why It Was Impossible To Settle Things Quickly. I'm Sorry.

Randy is excited, asking, "Hey, can we fight a dragon soon?" Meanwhile, Ellie talks about why they need dragon skin with a defeated tone.

According to Ellie, the stress of traveling through time can be handled by the dragon's power, which can even bend the laws of nature. So, dragon skin is the most important material, and without it, they can't even start.

 "Dragons, huh..."

Luke sighs heavily for a reason. There aren't many dragons left, and they haven't been spotted recently.

Even if there are sightings, hunting a dragon is really hard.

 Their bodies never get tired.

They move faster than you'd think for their size.

When they breathe fire, they can wipe out a small town.

Their claws can crack the ground.

They can control the weather and even gravity.

They're called gods for a reason, and their strength is said to be beyond understanding.

They're hard to find. Even if you do find one, they're way too strong. Asking for their skin is almost impossible.

As everyone feels defeated, Randy suddenly bursts out laughing. Everyone raises their eyebrows at him...

 "Isn't it great? Just perfect..."

Randy grins and points his right hand at Ellie.

"Inside me, there's a dragon sleeping, right?"

 "That blood..."

Randy looks straight at Ellie, who nods.

"You can do it, right? Bring that dragon back to life from my Dragon's Blood... It was written, right?"

 "You saw that?"

 "Of course, I can read."

Randy smiles, and Ellie lets out a big sigh, tightening her expression.

"...I can do it, but it's way too dangerous."

Ellie explains seriously that creating a dragon from Dragon's Blood has a huge backlash. Using all that blood for the return means... it's like throwing away the great power that's inside Randy.

"Can a dragon be controlled by you, who has lost its power?"

"Stop asking me that. It's not about whether I can... it's about doing it. If that's the only way, then I'll do it."

Randy snorts and looks straight at Ellie.

"And someday, I have to beat this blood into submission myself."

 "Was that written too?"

"Nope. Just a hunch... a feeling."

Randy shakes his head, saying that having Dragon's Blood in his body means the dragon might take over him one day. A dragon wouldn't lend its power for free. It would create a body that matches its blood and soul, eventually replacing the host.

To stop that, he has to surpass the dragon's power. And that means relying only on his own pure strength.

"If I'm going to do it someday, it's better to do it sooner. I've been itching to punch something anyway."

Randy grins, and Ellie can't hide her exasperation as she sighs deeply. She probably wants to stop him. She thought it would be better to gather more power first, but the faster Randy grows, the sooner the dragon will awaken.

So even if they avoid it now, they'll still face the dragon in the near future.

And it could happen at school or in the town. Thinking about that, this moment might be fate. Plus, the dragon inside Randy has gathered power. Its strength is unimaginable.

But right now... if it's just awakened, if it's an immature dragon... maybe he can handle it, even as 'inexperienced' as he is. Yes, he can.

Luckily, it's not just Randy here; Luke and Ellie are with him too. They have enough strength.

If they think about it that way, it means that if they miss this chance, the future will only get riskier.

Ellie takes a deep breath again and says, "I understand," as she pulls out her staff from thin air.

"The missing parts will come from..."

 "Those disgusting creatures, right?"

Ellie nods silently and starts walking toward the big door.

In front of the pile of corpses beyond the door, Ellie nods and says, "This should be enough."

 "I have one condition."

 "What is it?"

"Accept these... this opponent is that strong."

Saying this, Ellie handed over a few small bottles from thin air. These were potions that Ellie and Liz had mixed together.

"...Got it. If I can't do it alone, I'll take it."

Feeling a bit frustrated, but accepting the potions, Randy heard Ellie whisper, "Alright, let's do this," as she made her staff float in the air. The floating staff moved behind Randy.

Ellie and the staff both filled with magical power and surrounded Randy.

'Shadows writhing in eternal pain, entangled in a cage of blood and steel,

Devouring oneself, sinking into an endless cycle,

Steel snakes breaking the tangled chains, returning from the chaos,

Now, let the joined souls be separated! Soul Isolation!'

As Ellie chanted, Randy felt his strength clearly fading away... the overwhelming feeling he had recently was disappearing, and a familiar sensation was coming back.

 "Nice... feels nostalgic."

In front of Randy, something dark red was bubbling and moving. At the same time, small trails from the surrounding monsters stretched toward the dark red thing... slowly, it started to grow bigger.

Along with that, Ellie called out to Randy, "Let's go!"

 'Summon Dragon!'

The surrounding monsters were drawn toward the liquid in the center. But it didn't stop there; the liquid even absorbed part of the flesh wall, making a dripping sound as it fell to the floor and soaked in... then, the floor cracked open, and a huge foot appeared.

With a loud noise, something broke through the floor, or rather, the wall of dimensions.

With bright red scales and 2 massive horns, the dragon, supported by its 4 sturdy legs, spread its large wings and roared in front of Randy and the others.

The air shook, and Cecilia, startled, fell back with a pale face.

 "Th-this is..."

This was not something a human should face. Cecilia looked like she wanted to say that, but Ellie's magic wrapped around her. It looked similar to the magic used for the aging test on the photo earlier, but Cecilia inside showed no change.

"It's a simple dimensional barrier. Unless it hits directly, it should block the attacks."

Ellie glared at the dragon with a bitter expression. The dragon had just awakened and was struggling to control mixed blood, so it wasn't in its complete form. Still, it had an overwhelming presence.

"...If it comes down to it, I might have to join the fight."

Saying this, Ellie poked the floor with her staff... the whole room expanded greatly, and a dimensional membrane covered the walls.

This was possible because they could access the Tower of Time, but it was unclear how much they could withstand the dragon's attacks. The tower was, after all, a pseudo-living being from a higher dimension. It should be able to nullify the dragon's attacks if done right...

 "Randy──."

 "I know."

Cracking his neck, Randy started warming up in front of the dragon. If he destroyed the tower, they wouldn't be able to travel through time. But if they went outside, it could affect the other world.

They had to defeat it here.

After finishing his warm-up, Randy looked up at the dragon, staring it down.

 'You insolent little──'

"I want to ask one thing."

Randy interrupted the dragon's speech, and the dragon raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Are you planning to leave quietly? And also, can you spare a bit of that skin...?"

The dragon snorted in response to Randy's direct stare.

'If you want it, try to surpass me. That is the justice of this moment──'

With the dragon's voice shaking the air, Randy cracked his neck and smirked.

"As long as I know you're the enemy, that's good enough..."

 'Foolish, little──'

The moment the dragon opened its mouth, Randy didn't hold back and slammed his fist into the dragon's chest.

 *Boom!*

The sound shook the air, but the dragon showed no noticeable change.

Instead, the dragon swung its right front leg at Randy, who was still floating in the air.

It was a cat-like swipe in return. Randy took the hit and was sent flying.

Randy crashed into the dimensional wall, making the entire tower shake.

Breaking through the rising smoke, Randy charged back in. As he ran, the dragon swung its tail at him.

 The two collided in mid-air.

They were evenly matched in strength, but in the end, Randy was pushed back and sent flying again.

Bouncing 2 or 3 times, Randy managed to get back up with a backflip.

 "Tch, it's definitely heavy."

Randy plugged one nostril and let out a big "Hmph!" as he blew his nose, spraying blood all over the floor.

"Randy! You idiot, why are you hitting it head-on?"

Luke, standing next to him, raised his eyebrows in surprise, but Randy pouted and continued.

"Right now, my movements are just 'punch' and 'kick,' and the only other thing I can do is 'giant swing'."

Randy's eyes sparkled as he thought about grabbing that tail and swinging it around.

"I don't get it, but let me help too."

Randy smirked at Luke, who was ready with his sword.

 "Don't mess me up, okay?"

"I'm not thoughtless like you... First, aim for the horns or the claws──."

Just as Luke said that, the dragon in front of them suddenly grew larger, and then it jumped into the air with its massive body.

"Uh-oh, it's going to breathe fire!" Ellie shouted at almost the same time the dragon opened its huge mouth and unleashed a wide blast of fire.

The fast and wide breath made it hard to dodge, and both Randy and Luke covered themselves with magical power. They created the strongest barrier they could, but the breath swept over them like it didn't even care.

As the fire that seemed to burn everything faded, the dragon charged straight at where Randy had been.

From the remnants of the breath, Randy and Luke, slightly singed, were still standing.

The dragon swung its front foot down at them.

Randy grimaced and kicked Luke out of the way, crossing his arms to brace for impact.

 *Boom!*

The whole tower shook again, and a small crack appeared in the dimensional wall beneath Randy's feet.

Randy managed to take the dragon's hit, but his whole body shook, and blood was oozing from various places. The dragon opened its jaw right in front of him.

"Hey, hey, hey... you're so impatient."

A compact blast of fire shot toward Randy.

The blast hit him directly, sending him flying and rolling across the ground.

 "Randy!"

A pained scream came from either Liz or Ellie. As they watched, Randy rolled around but still managed to push himself up, unsteadily drinking a potion Ellie had given him.

 "Ugh... this lizard guy..."

Randy ripped off his torn shirt──this time it wasn't his school uniform──and slowly crouched down in front of the dragon, saying, "Finally, my body is getting used to this."

'What a tough guy... that's what makes you worthy of my body.'

The dragon grinned wickedly at Randy, who muttered, "Who are you..." before disappearing.

 *Boom!*

At the same time as the loud sound, Randy's fist slammed into the dragon's belly.

Unlike before, the dragon's neck bent slightly from the impact.

But the dragon shook its head and pushed Randy back.

Luke caught the flying Randy, sliding on the floor with both feet.

 "Stop messing around."

 "That's my line."

Luke snorted and said, "Like I said before, we need to take off its horns..." as he let go of Randy and glared at the dragon.

"Horns? Why do we need to do that again?"

"If we get the horns, Miss Elizabeth can turn them into weapons."

 Luke turned back to Randy.

"Stop its movements. I'll definitely cut off the horns."

 "...I'm counting on you."

Is it even possible? Randy didn't ask that. If Luke said he could do it, then he definitely could. Randy knew that Lucas Highland was that kind of guy.

 So, because of that──

"Let's go. We're going to beat that lizard."

 "Together, we're dragon slayers."

They both stared at the dragon, pumping their fists up and down, then bringing them together. The moment their fists separated, Randy vanished, and Luke readied his sword, gathering magical power.

When it came to speed, Randy had the advantage over the dragon. But that was just speed.

 Stopping that huge body?

Honestly, he had no plan, but he never really had one before either.

In an instant, Randy appeared at the dragon's feet and swung his left fist with all his might, hitting the dragon's leg.

That one hit had blown away the mutated giant Valion from the inside.

Randy's punch penetrated the dragon's thick, tough scales and skin, making the dragon's leg shake violently and sending it flying.

 'What the──'

Randy jumped up, kicking his feet in excitement when he heard the dragon's surprised voice for the first time.

Randy was right in front of the dragon.

As Randy clenched his fists, the dragon opened its huge mouth wide──

 "LUKEEEE!"

Just as Randy shouted, the dragon breathed fire towards him while floating in the air. The dragon stopped moving, its head turned sideways to breathe out...

 "Bring it on!"

Luke grinned and disappeared, then shouted "Mountain Break!" as he hit the dragon's horn with all his strength.

A bright white light shone above the dragon's head... and at the same time, the dragon let out a painful roar for the first time.

The huge horn and Randy were falling.

And then... the dragon breathed fire towards Luke, who was still floating in the air.

The dragon slammed its tail down on Luke.

In the meantime, Luke flew away and rolled on the ground.

Cecilia ran over, shouting "Luke!" as she saw his arms and legs bent in strange directions.

Behind her, Randy was throwing a giant dragon horn towards Ellie while smoke was coming off his body, saying, "Please."

"I-I'm okay... somehow, I'm still alive."

Luke gave a wry smile, and Cecilia, with tears in her eyes, said, "You idiot!" as she sprinkled a potion on him and shoved another potion into his mouth.

"O-Oh, Milady... the dragon is coming. Get away──."

"No way. I won't just run away and leave you here."

As the dragon slowly approached, Cecilia covered Luke to protect him.

The dragon was getting closer to them... but from behind it came a voice.

"Hey, lizard guy. I'm your opponent here."

A cocky voice echoed. Even Cecilia could feel the powerful presence, and when she turned to look, she saw Randy carrying a huge sword.

Can we even call it a sword?

It looked like a big, rough black chunk that was just a horn shaped into a sword.

But Randy's face showed clear confidence.

"Come on, lizard guy. I'm finally ready... I'm going to crush you."

Randy grinned, and Luke, looking all beat up, laughed in the same way, saying, "Go for it." For some reason, Cecilia realized she was already sure they would win.
