Volume 3 Chapter 25 Mx. Margaret's Exciting Love Chat Time
What is a "fushisha"?
Mx. Margaret seemed surprised, so they might know.
"Mx. Margaret, what is a fushisha?"
"If you take it literally, it means an immortal being, an undying one."
"An undying dad... an eternally immortal dad... not dad, but grandpa...?"
"It's dad, Lydia."
"Dad, what does it mean to be an undying one?"
"That's a secret. I don't interfere with the human world. I merely observe. Therefore, I won't provide knowledge."
"Isn't it okay to tell me...?"
"The world can change shape based on what I observe. If I provide knowledge, it can change even more. The knowledge I give is based on my own perspective. I don't want you to judge things based on the knowledge I provide from my perspective."
"I don't really understand, dad."
My head is getting tangled. The content of the cute dog's speech feels a bit difficult.
I think it would be nice if dad would say something like "cherry pie" like Eir-Eir or Ms. Famine.
"So, you have no intention of telling me anything, even though you accidentally let something slip."
"Forget it. That was just a conversation."
"By the way, what is a holy beast? They say a holy beast appears before a saint and stays close to her. However, the power of the saint is within Lyd-Lyd, just like the magical power we possess. In other words, whether a holy beast is present or not, the healing power can still be used."
After saying that, Mx. Margaret took a puff from their shortened aromatic tobacco, exhaled a puff of purple smoke.
Then, they pressed the cigarette into a makeshift ashtray to extinguish it, placed the shortened cigarette into the ashtray, and set it on the table.
"Then, it doesn't matter if you're here or not..."
"I exist to be hugged tightly by Lydia."
"After seeing that naked handsome guy earlier, that statement has a strong scent of crime."
"It's not a crime. I'm cute."
"Your confidence about cuteness is impressive..."
Shrugging in exasperation, Mx. Margaret took out a shining card with both hands.
The card shuffled itself, and one floated up gently.
A card depicting an angel sparkled within a round green wreath, spinning around.
"World. The meaning is complete... reaching the supreme. I thought an undying one was a type of monster like Eir-Eir or Fam-Fam, but it doesn't feel that way."
After the world card, a magic card was pulled from the stack.
"That's right. It's best to convey it to Ciel. I'm sure he will look into it."
"I also saw Ms. Famine's memories. ...I haven't talked about it with everyone yet. I was told it was okay to take a little break, so I got a bit spoiled."
"I think that's fine, Lyd-Lyd. Right now, there's nothing urgent you need to do, is there?"
"Yes... but I feel like I should be doing something."
Mx. Margaret lightly clapped their hands.
The shining card disappeared in an instant. Then, Mx. Margaret rubbed my head affectionately.
"The holy beast is on Lyd-Lyd's side, so when it's truly needed, he will surely talk to you. Now is not that time. Forcing him to speak won't bring anything good. There are times when knowledge is needed and times when it isn't."
"...But, Mx. Margaret. I feel like I have the power of Goddess Alexandria. Shouldn't I be doing something?"
"Lyd-Lyd is Lyd-Lyd. You, perhaps, are not good at resting."
"I took it easy today. I even had a bubble bath..."
"You can take bubble baths every day, you know? Just look at me, Lyd-Lyd. I live lazily every day, drinking wine without particularly utilizing my star-reading powers."
"But that's because something tough happened to you, Mx. Margaret..."
"Even if there are tough times, there are plenty of people who don't run away from their roles, right? But resting is important too. After all, you're running on empty magic right now. Take your time to rest, without thinking about anything."
Removing their hand from my head, Mx. Margaret stuffed a snow rabbit cookie into my mouth.
It was crunchy and sweet.
Before I knew it, more than half of the cookies in the can were gone. Eir-Eir was curled up, dozing on the table. It seemed like she was satisfied after eating a lot.
"It would be good to talk to everyone about the immortal and Famine's memories, and anyway, your princes are worried about you and come to check on you almost every day."
"Sir Stefan?"
"Not just him. It might be clearer to say your knight who protects you. So, well, for now, think of this as a fun romantic chat time with me, and just relax."
"Fun romance, chat...?"
"Yep. Lyd-Lyd, who's been getting more feminine, who do you like? Go on, tell your big sister(?)."
Even if I'm asked who I like,
I tilt my head. I like all my friends.
"Since they're my friends, I like everyone."
"Then, what about Ciel? The strongest, most powerful ghostly demon lord. He seems a bit unstable, but he would do anything for you. He's well-liked by Saintwise's subordinates too. He's knowledgeable and reliable, right?"
"Hearing Sir Ciel's voice makes me feel at ease. It's because he was the first to befriend me."
I pictured Sir Ciel's face.
He always smiles gently and speaks in a calm tone. He's a very beautiful person.
His features are beautiful, and the jewels on various parts of his body are beautiful too, but probably, his heart is very beautiful.
I think I'm a little worried about Sir Ciel, who neglects himself to protect someone or something.
"Then, Lucian. The Star's Fallen Reaper, the commander of the Holy Knights of Leonsroar. You might think he's a soft-hearted womanizer, but he's actually a prince of Kirschtein, serious and sincere. He's straightforward, passionate, and a sensible person who knows his place. He's popular."
"Mr. Lucian is kind. He cooks for me, and... I'm glad he's feeling better."
I only know a little about Mr. Lucian's past.
He must have gone through a lot of hardships, but I'm happy if he can enjoy his meals.
Let's go out to play together again. This time, he'll surely eat with me at a food stall.
"Then, what about the Girard twins? Rail... I'm not really sure. I think he's an interesting person, but he must really care about his younger brother. Roxas is confident, has a sharp tongue, and is reliable, but it's fun to tease him when he's being naive."
"Sir Rail is dependable. Seeing Sir Rail's face makes me feel energized. I worry that Sir Roxas might break a cup or spill soup. He always looks grumpy, but he has a kind side too... he's a mysterious person."
I can tell that Sir Rail and Sir Roxas are very close.
Both of them care deeply for each other.
Sir Roxas will probably inherit the Girard family, but I wonder what will happen from now on.
To connect the bloodline of the Duke family, he'll have to marry someone, right? If that happens, it's probably better for me to stay out of it.
I think it would be rude to the woman who will become Sir Roxas's wife.
"Stefan... I heard about him earlier. ...Before, you used to say you hated men or that men should perish, but you've changed quite a bit, Lyd-Lyd."
"I've made more friends. Everyone is kind to me. So, I want to return that kindness... I want to be able to cook soon. I want them to eat delicious food. I also want to think of new menu items for the restaurant and open it again."
"That's what you want to do the most right now, isn't it? Then, don't think about difficult things, just rest for now. ...I should be heading home soon too. See you tomorrow, Lyd-Lyd. I'll let Ciel know to come to you when I see him."
"Yes, thank you. It would be quickest if my dad could tell me what the immortal are..."
"It's a secret."
"Later, it's going to be the tickle punishment, isn't it?"
"I have a bad feeling about this..."
Mx. Margaret stood up and said, "Well then, if anything happens, just call me again," and went home.
I crunched on the remaining cookies.
Once Mx. Margaret left, Ms. Famine jumped onto my lap and curled up. Ms. Famine's small body was pleasantly warm.
