Volume 6 Chapter 6 Elder Brother Chrisrain's Moving Great Swan
Before Sir Roxas officially gets engaged, we decided to head out right away.
I told Sir Rail and the others to wait while I went to change.
Today was a regular business day at Lobelia, so I was wearing a white long-sleeve blouse with a mint green apron, but since we were going out, I wanted to take off the apron and headscarf and wear something warmer.
I went upstairs with Eir-Eir, Ms. Famine, and my dad, and I helped Eir-Eir and the others put on Mr. Leavis's special winter shawls and scarves.
Since we were going outside, it was better to be warm.
Then I took off my apron and headscarf and changed into a white knitted dress for going out.
The dress, made from fluffy sheep wool, was light and warm.
I threw on a red shawl over it. The red added a nice touch to the all-white outfit.
I took down my hair and fixed it, wrapping a red ribbon around a section.
I used to think my black hair was plain and dark, but adding a little decoration makes it look nicer, and it doesn't clash with any outfit, so I've been liking it lately.
"Girl power..."
In front of the mirror, I nodded.
I felt like I had good girl power. The outfit was cute.
I guess I really like clothes. I love cute outfits and accessories too.
Last year, I only wore black, so wearing bright colors makes me feel really happy.
After all, we're going out.
No matter the reason, going out is exciting.
I've never been to Duke Girard's territory, so I'm feeling a bit thrilled.
"By the way, do I need to bring anything...?"
I wondered if we'd be staying overnight, so I tilted my head.
But Sir Rail said, "Princess, you don't need to bring anything. When we get to Duke Girard's, you'll go to Roxas. Just leave the rest to him."
I thought that was okay, so I put Eir-Eir on my head, wrapped Ms. Famine around my neck, and carried my dad in my arms as I went downstairs.
"Princess, you look cute. I wish we could go on a date instead of going to Roxas, like to the town."
"Thank you, Sir Rail."
When I got downstairs, Sir Rail held my hand and complimented me.
"That outfit is cute too. You know, my sister looks good in anything. I think you'd look great in some of our traditional clothing from Elgard Kingdom. Would you like to try them on next time?"
"The Elgard Kingdom outfit?"
"Yeah. It's a bit similar to what I'm wearing. It fits snugly and has a slit that goes up to around your thigh."
"Uh, that sounds a bit revealing..."
Elder Brother Chrisrain pointed to where my thigh meets my hip to show me the shape of the dress.
It sounds like a pretty revealing outfit. I wonder if that's normal in Elgard Kingdom. If Elder Brother Chrisrain is right, it would show a lot of leg. Just moving a little would make most of my legs visible.
"Lydia, you look cute today. ...Sir Rail is right. I want to take you away right now, not just from the wedding venue."
"Mr. Lucian, wasn't that what you said about stopping your flirting?"
"Ah, only with you. ...I'm serious. I won't lie to you."
"Uh, um, okay..."
That was quite a strong compliment.
It's embarrassing, but Mr. Lucian has always been like this.
I guess it's just my feelings that have changed.
"Lydia, you're adorable... you've grown up so much, it's a mix of happy and sad... the cutest in the world. Lydia, so cute."
Sir Stefan praised me like he was sending off a daughter to get married.
Even though I just changed into a going-out outfit, being praised this much makes me feel happy and a bit shy, so I hugged my dad tightly.
"I'm cuter!"
"My dad is cuter."
My dad, with a red ribbon on his head and a red shawl around his neck, said confidently, and I nodded.
My dad, Ms. Famine, and Eir-Eir are cuter.
Everyone is wearing red shawls and scarves. I'm happy because it looks like my red shawl matches theirs.
"Okay, let's go. We can't take the big swan out unless we have enough space. It's really big."
"It's quite big, isn't it?"
"It can fit everyone, so yeah, it's big. I think the ride won't be too bad."
After locking the shop door, we headed out of the alley to the square in the south district.
The empty square we walked to from the alley is a park made for kids to play in.
Right now, it's covered in snow, and a snowman that was probably made a little while ago is standing there.
The room with the magic stone heater is warm, but it's still really cold outside.
I watched my breath turn white with each exhale and blew warm air onto my cold hands.
"Lydia, can you help me out?"
"Um, okay."
Mr. Lucian, who was walking next to me, said this, and I reached out my hand.
He took my hand and put it in the pocket of his stylish black coat with a cape.
"It's warm."
Mr. Lucian's hand is warm, and the inside of his coat pocket is warm too.
When I looked up at Mr. Lucian with a smile, he smiled back. Mr. Lucian is so kind.
"Lucian, you seem to be less shy lately. Ciel used to do things like that naturally, but with you, it feels like there's more to it."
"Lucian... it's impressive how you can do that so easily. Where did you learn to act so boldly?"
Sir Rail and Sir Stefan are watching us with interest.
Now that I think about it, this is kind of embarrassing.
I'm happy that my hand is warm, but Mr. Lucian is so natural about it that I got carried away.
I pulled my hand out of Mr. Lucian's pocket and stepped back a bit.
For a moment, it felt like we were a couple.
I need to be careful. I'm supposed to help Sir Roxas, so I can't get too carried away.
"Tarte Tatin..."
Ms. Famine, who is wrapped around my neck, muttered in disbelief. I didn't really understand what she meant.
"I'm totally okay with my sister charming all the guys. After all, Lydia is beautiful like me. We are both beautiful and noble, and just existing makes us special. Anyway, come here, Peach Bun."
"Peach Bun..."
Elder Brother Chrisrain raised one hand gently, trying to summon the Peach Bun.
Why is he bringing up the Peach Bun now?
When I tilted my head in confusion, Elder Brother Chrisrain told me, "It's the name of the swan."
With Elder Brother Chrisrain's special magic, a big swan's neck suddenly appeared from thin air.
From the neck, a huge body followed. It had beautiful, smooth, large wings and yellow feet.
It was definitely a swan, but it was as big as a small house.
It was cute with a crown on its head.
