Volume 10 Chapter 14 Preparation For The Coronation
The morning of the coronation.
Just the day before yesterday, I was working as usual at Lobelia, back with the Rest Priest Family again.
When I arrived at the Rest Priest Family, everyone was so sweet to me, and Eir-Eir and the others seemed pretty happy.
I slept in a cute room filled with stuffed animals, on a fluffy bed, and now I was surrounded by many maids getting me ready.
Sitting in a chair in a room with a big mirror, my waist was wrapped in a corset.
When it was tightened, my already pretty big chest was lifted up, making me a bit worried.
It felt like, well, my chest was really out there!
It seemed like it would be easy to hide Eir-Eir and the others away.
Eir-Eir and the others, along with Ms. Famine, Nel-Nel, and Mer-Mer, were sitting cutely on chairs without backs, getting pampered by the maids with soft brushes.
They had ribbons wrapped around their ears and necks, and Mr. Leavis had made fluffy white frilly shawls with the craft club for this special day.
Everyone looked adorable.
By the way, this time, even Dad didn't run away; he got his fur fluffed up and was decorated with ribbons.
"Oh, Lady Lydia! So cute...!"
"So lovely, Lady Lydia!"
As the maids dressed me in a gown, styled my hair beautifully, and did a light makeup, they all praised me.
"Thank you..."
I was happy to be complimented.
But it made me shy.
Reflected in the big mirror was a version of me that looked much more mature than usual.
The white dress, which showed off my body line, felt like a mix of a gown and a robe, very elegant.
With a luxurious yet delicate and beautiful hairpiece and necklace.
During my engagement with Sir Stefan, there were times I had to wear a dress, but back then, I always had a gloomy expression and didn't think the dresses suited me much.
But now, maybe because I've grown up,
I looked like a proper noble lady.
"Hehe... so cute, I'm happy. Thank you for making me look nice."
I smiled brightly at the maids and thanked them again, and they huddled together and started crying.
As I comforted them not to cry, my mother came to pick me up.
My mother, beautifully dressed, had a certain dignity about her.
Maybe it was because she was a princess from a neighboring country.
My father, also dressed neatly in formal attire, looked youthful and impressive, and together they made a lovely picture.
It felt a bit strange to be going out with my parents.
I was always alone, but riding in the carriage with my parents and Eir-Eir and the others turned the usually empty and lonely carriage into a lively and bright place.
Next to me in the seat, Eir-Eir and the others and Nel-Nel were proudly showing off their cute outfits, saying "Pumpkin!" "Fried horse mackerel!"
Ms. Famine sat by the window with a smug look, while Mer-Mer was sleeping.
My dad was busy declaring, "The kids look so happy.
But I'm the cutest," just like always.
"Lyd-Lyd. I think I've made you suffer for a long time. A lot of nobles and people from the town will come to watch. But we are here with you. It's okay."
"Yeah. Don't worry, Lyd-Lyd."
After the coronation, we were supposed to go greet King Zeere.
It seemed my father had visited him a few times.
He had been unwell for a long time, but it seemed his condition was getting worse.
I had asked Sir Stefan and my father, "Can't I use my power to heal King Zeere?" But it seemed King Zeere was refusing that.
Sir Stefan was the heir, and there were also his little sisters.
There had been a lot going on, but there were people supporting Sir Stefan too.
──So, it seems they said it was okay now.
Sir Stefan also said it was fine.
Considering King Zeere's age, it was only natural for him to pass away due to illness.
He said there was no need to forcefully prolong his life.
I couldn't say anything more than that.
"At the castle, Lyd-Lyd's friends should be here too. Macbeth... I invited Margaret, but he said he's going to check it out from the town. He said he wouldn't go inside the castle."
"Yeah. I asked them to come with me, but they said no. They thinks it's more fun drinking at the stalls in the town where the coronation festival is happening."
Mx. Margaret said they would go with Mr. Tsukuyomi to see it
So, I think they'll be watching me from the town today.
The carriage arrived in front of the palace, and my father, who got down first, took my mother's and my hand to help us out of the carriage.
"Thank you, Father."
"Lyd-Lyd... how cute and beautiful you are, Lyd-Lyd. I don't want to marry you off to anyone."
"Father, I've thought about it. If I were to get married, since I'm the only daughter, it would be for a husband."
"I'm happy but it's tough...!"
"Lyd-Lyd. Mother want to see my grandchild... you're still young, so you can raise as many of kids as you want."
"Y-yes, thank you, Mother."
In front of the palace, several noble carriages are parked.
Among them, one particularly luxurious and splendid carriage opens, and someone rushes towards me.
It's Sir Rail.
"Princess! I've missed you, wow, you're so cute...! How can my princess be this adorable! I want to pick you up and spin you around right now, but that wouldn't be okay, right?"
"L-Lydia, what a coincidence...! Th-that looks really good on you... wow!"
Right behind Sir Rail, who quickly reached me, Sir Roxas almost tripped.
The attendants quickly helped him before he fell and swiftly moved away from Sir Roxas.
They're really skilled.
