Volume 6 Chapter 57 Making Up With Angry Lydia
Yawn, stretch, and a big stretch.
Mornings are tough for me. I just want to sleep in.
The morning sunlight is making the leaves of the Monstera, placed by the window, shine bright green.
The cute potted Monstera with holes bigger than my palm was in Mr. Lucian's room. I was so overwhelmed by how stylish his room was when I visited his house.
When I said I wanted to be as fashionable and charming as Mr. Lucian, he gifted me a potted plant.
Just having one houseplant in my bedroom makes it feel so much brighter.
I rubbed the tears that had gathered at the corners of my eyes.
On the bed, Eir-Eir and Ms. Famine, Nel-Nel are cuddled up and sleeping.
Dad is curled up at my feet.
Since the commotion in Edelstein, Dad has been a bit quiet.
That said, he's not really the talkative type anyway, and when he does speak, it's usually just "I'm cute," so I'm not too worried about his silence.
Elder Brother Chrisrain said, "I'll come visit again," and rode back to Elgard Kingdom on Peach Bun the Swan.
Sir Stefan and the others had to return to the palace to discuss Sir Galeon's situation and what's next.
After the rain of fresh cream fell in Edelstein, healing the land, buildings, and even the damaged airship as if nothing had happened, Sir Roxas and Sir Rail returned to the Girard house by airship, and then they planned to head to the palace with Sir Marx.
They could have gone straight back to the Royal Capital, but they were considerate enough not to worry their Mom, who was waiting at the Girard house, after being away for so long without contact.
I'm happy that Sir Roxas and Sir Rail can return to their family at the Girard house.
After that, we returned to Holy Capital Ascalith thanks to Sir Ciel's magic.
It's only been a few days since I left Lobelia, but it feels like ages since I came back.
During these days, I took long baths and got plenty of sleep.
Sir Ciel told me, "I've been pushing you too hard. I drained your magic, and then used a lot of it afterward. Please take a few days to rest and recover."
When I said goodbye to Sir Ciel, who had brought me to Lobelia, I stared at his face for a moment, then turned away.
He looked a bit sad, which made my heart ache, but I kept up my angry attitude because I was mad.
After all, Sir Ciel just disappeared without saying anything and put himself in danger.
Even though he hurt himself to get rid of Nel-Nel, I thought he might die.
There might not have been any other way, but still...
But──.
"...It's not nice to leave things on bad terms."
"Pumpkin pudding!"
"Tarte Tatin..."
"Fried Mackerel."
Eir-Eir bounced up, and Ms. Famine let out a sleepy voice.
Nel-Nel greeted me with a cute voice in the morning.
I picked up Nel-Nel's fluffy body.
"Nel-Nel, why isn't it strawberry parfait?"
"Fried mackerel."
"Strawberry parfait."
"Fried mackerel."
I think both fried mackerel and strawberry parfait are delicious, but I find strawberry parfait cuter.
Nel-Nel wiggled her long ears and blinked her big blue eyes.
"Good morning, Lydia. Kids."
"Good morning, Dad. Let's have breakfast. We should open the shop soon."
"Your magic seems to have recovered quite a bit, so it should be fine."
"Can you tell?"
"I'm your dad, so I can tell."
I changed out of my nightgown and got dressed, then headed downstairs.
The animals followed me. I could hear their little feet pattering on the floor. So cute.
I went to the kitchen with everyone and cooked bread, sausages, and fried eggs.
A fragrant smell wafts through the restaurant. The breeze coming in through the window feels like spring, warm yet a bit cool. By the time it's noon, it's quite warm, enough that I don't need a jacket.
Knock, knock, the door gets tapped, so after I set the finished food in front of everyone, I headed to the door.
When I opened it, there stood Sir Ciel.
Bathed in the soft morning light, Sir Ciel looked as beautiful as ever, with a slightly troubled and confused expression on their face.
I stared up at Sir Ciel and then bit my lip tightly.
"Good morning, Ms. Lydia. Um, ...I came to apologize today."
I turned my face away in silence.
I decided I wouldn't talk to Sir Ciel because I was angry.
"If it's okay... I brought this, a meat assortment from Mx. Margaret's shop, and a seafood assortment from Mr. Tsukuyomi's shop. Also, fruits, milk, cheese, and various things sold at the market. I focused on buying heavier items that seemed difficult to carry."
Sir Ciel was holding a lot of bags.
Seeing the usually graceful Sir Ciel carrying bags filled with meat and seafood was somehow heartwarming. And it made me happy. I was just thinking it was about time to go shopping.
After all, our family has grown. Eir-Eir eats a lot, and Nel-Nel eats a lot too.
Dad and Ms. Famine don't eat as much.
"...Ms. Lydia. I'm really sorry for everything. ...Well then, I'm off."
Sir Ciel placed the bags at the entrance of Lobelia's shop and smiled sadly as they tried to leave.
I hurriedly grabbed Sir Ciel's hand.
"Ah, breakfast! Are you going to have breakfast, Sir Ciel...?"
"...Is that okay?"
"I'm sorry, I really don't want to fight with you, Sir Ciel... I'm not angry, I'm sorry..."
I'm angry, but I'm not angry.
Because of my attitude, Sir Ciel feels sad, and that's not good.
When I looked up at Sir Ciel's face, tears started to well up.
I thought I might die. I thought I might never see him again.
I was really, really scared.
"...Ms. Lydia. Thank you. ...If it's okay with you, if you can forgive me, will you be my friend again?"
"Yes...!"
And Sir Ciel and I made up.
The snow melted, and spring came.
This time last year, I was heartbroken after Sir Stefan broke off our engagement, so I couldn't enjoy spring at all.
The sweet smell of flowers, the lush green, the blue sky.
Now, everything felt beautiful and special.
