Volume 1 Chapter 45, Part 2 Mean Villainess, Family Gathering
"Elena, is that true?"
Since I was asked that, I nodded honestly.
"That's right. I can't enter the Royal Central Library."
"...I see, that library isn't open to everyone."
My father started to look worried, and my mother was watching him with an amazed look.
I'm sure if I looked in a mirror, I would have the same expression as my mother.
"Oh, speaking of that, didn't you have a friend who works at the Royal Central Library?"
My mother asked my father.
Then my father's sad face disappeared, and he smiled brightly.
He remembered that friend.
"Yes!"
"Maybe you should ask that person. It might not work, but it's okay to ask, right?"
My mother gave a wonderful suggestion.
It's worth asking, even if it might not work!
It would be the best if that means we can get inside!
I shot a hopeful look at my father.
"Got it. I'll ask. Maybe Hans can help us get in."
"Thank you, Dad!"
When I thanked him with my brightest voice, my father's face turned into his happiest expression of the day.
Even though he's called a clever Count outside, I think he shouldn't make that face.
After that, my father went to his study because he had some work to do.
I knew you were busy, I thought to myself, but I held back and just said goodnight.
My mother is going to bed now.
It seems he has something to do tomorrow.
Then Elder Brother and I went to my room to read.
"Elena, has anything changed lately?"
As soon as Elder Brother entered the room, he looked at me and Rolus with worried looks on his face.
"Nothing in particular. I've gotten used to the busyness of school."
"Where's Rolus?"
"I just had a fever the other day"
"Yes, Elder Brother! Rolus had a fever so I took care of him."
Rolus is so cute when he's a little weak!
Please praise me for not saying that.
You were patient.
"I also want Elena to take care of me."
Elder Brother was openly showing his wishes without holding back.
I would be happy to take care of him, but it's hard because Elder Brother is not here.
"Did Rolus's fever go down quickly?"
"Yes. It went down after sleeping one night."
Watching Rolus reply like that made me think it would have been nice if it lasted a little longer.
I wanted to take care of him more.
No, it's best that he is healthy, though.
But he was so cute.
"What about Elena?"
"Huh?"
"Did Elena get sick too?"
"Ah, yes. I didn't catch it and was perfectly fine."
Come to think of it, I snuggled into Rolus's blankets while taking care of him, but I didn't get sick.
If I had gotten sick, would Rolus have taken care of me instead?
I kind of want to try getting sick, but sadly, my body has been strong and I haven't been sick recently.
"If Elena ever gets sick, please tell me right away."
"Huh? Okay."
"I'll come to take care of you!"
Does Elder Brother really have that kind of free time?
Are you actually free?
"...No, I'm just trying to make sure Elena doesn't get sick"
Remotely?
How?
"Elder Brother?"
Questions kept coming to my mind, but I didn't know where to start, so I just tilted my head.
"Okay, here's the book Elena asked me to borrow."
"Thank you"
Since the subject has been diverted, I accept the book from Elder Brother without pursuing the matter any further.
The books he borrowed this time were about Lady Ruby, the fifth king and queen, and a book about lost magic.
It's not a serious story about lost magic, but something light-hearted, like maybe there was some magic like this.
"By the way, Elena, I heard you were investigating the seal. I wonder what happened after that?"
"Ah, I tried to research it, but it was really hard, so I gave up."
Well, I looked into the sealing thing a bit, but in the end, it was hard and I couldn't find what I wanted to know.
First, I couldn't find anything written about using sealing magic on a human body.
"I see, it's difficult."
"Yes... What do you think about using sealing magic on a human, Elder Brother?"
"On a human?"
"Yes. Like sealing something inside a person, or sealing the person themselves."
When I said that, Elder Brother stared for a moment, then started taking notes while muttering "for now."
"I never thought about such a thing. Elena, you say interesting things! It would be fun to research together in the future."
Elder Brother looked really happy when he said that.
I thought it would be fun to research together too, so I nodded with a smile.
In the end, that day our family gathered suddenly, and even though we felt a bit uneasy, there wasn't really any troublesome talk, just a fun time together.
It seemed that Father was a bit fidgety because he felt guilty about turning down marriage proposals that came for me.
"Speaking of which, putting my marriage aside, Elder Brother, aren't you getting married?"
I suddenly thought of this question and it came out of my mouth.
"If I could marry Elena, I would do it right now."
Came the reply that sounded like a typical siscon.
I didn't say anything in particular to that, and just worried about my future sister-in-law, who I had yet to meet, and how difficult it would be to marry an elder brother.
