Volume 1 Chapter 49, Part 2 Mean Villainess, Exhausting
But that feeling stopped for just a moment.
Leve and Ms. Flora were in the game room.
They weren't playing; they seemed to be looking at the games on the shelf and talking.
This is my chance.
If I say something a bit mean here, I can still act as an NPC.
"Oh, that's terrible, Leve. You won't play with me, but you will play with her?"
I aimed my spite in the wrong direction.
Now it's directed at Leve.
"No, that's not true, Elena."
But I feel like I've created a bit of a love triangle vibe.
I hope I get points for that.
"I just brought Flora here after she said she wanted to see the game room. And I told her about the games Elena donated."
"Oh, I see. The games I donated. It looks like they're being played nicely. I bought 3: one to play, one to keep, and one to give away."
They're from the same creator as that horror game featuring the witch.
I didn't put the horror game here since Leve and Rolus didn't like it, but I placed the other games here for sharing.
"You bought that many?"
Rudger seems a bit taken aback.
"Yes! Because they're super fun! There are other witch games too, but..."
"──O-Oh, Mr. Leve, I'm going home now. Thank you very much."
Damn, she got away.
...No way.
Ms. Flora has gone home.
My nasty plan seems to have failed.
"She ran away"
Rudger mutters as he watches Ms. Flora trot away.
While replying lightly to that, I suddenly looked at Rolus, who was tilting his head slightly and looking in the direction she had left.
"Why is she running away?"
Even Leve, the caretaker, doesn't seem to know.
"I wonder if she's scared of me"
When I said that, they laughed and said, "No way."
In the end, Ms. Flora went home, so Leve, who had some free time, joined us and we decided to play the game together.
The game I chose is the one I mentioned earlier, the god game I donated to.
If there was a witch horror game here, I would play that.
"Wow, this game is really fun!"
"Right?"
It looks like Rudger is really getting into it.
"Still, it's rare to see Rudger playing a game for this long."
Leve chuckled for a moment.
Indeed, Rudger does play sometimes, but not for very long.
It's because he's usually busy with Spell-ology.
"Ah, I got too focused on my research and wanted a break."
"Research?"
"Yes. I was comparing maps of the ruins and the old castle, both new and old."
"Sounds fun."
"I'll show you next time."
Yay!
When I looked up in joy, I noticed that it was getting dark outside the window.
"Oh, it's already this late. Shall we head back?"
"Yeah."
"Ah, I'm going to stop by the materials room first, so I'll see you here. See you tomorrow!"
Rudger said that and left the game room ahead of us.
"Sorry for leaving all the care of Ms. Flora just to you, Leve."
Leve, Rolus and I walked to the carriage stop, chatting away.
"I'm fine. But I'm not going to leave Elena and pay attention to that girl. The teacher asked me to come."
"I know"
I said "That's terrible, Leve." It seems he's a little worried.
It was just a mean-spirited line.
But the fact that Leve is concerned means that there was nothing wrong with my performance.
Thank goodness.
After saying goodbye to Leve and getting into my carriage, I let out a deep sigh.
I'm feeling a bit tired.
"Are you tired, Lady?"
"Hmm? Well, a little bit. I'm sure Rolus saw it too, but for some reason the girl from before is avoiding me. I wonder if she's scared of my mean face after all? "
I let out a dry laugh, but Rolus kept his face serious and didn't move a muscle.
"I'm sorry to be so bold as to say, Lady, but I think she's not afraid of ladies, but witches."
I was wondering what he would say on the serious side.
"No, she doesn't know about the witch's game."
"She should know."
"That's quite a claim. How can you be so sure? Rolus, are you acquaintances with that girl? By the way, I remember passing by Leve the other day with that girl; did you nod at her?"
"We are not acquaintances, but I'm sure it was her who greeted me. I'm sure you've met her before, Lady."
Have I met her?
I started rummaging through my memories.
She hasn't come to my house, so it must have been at some tea party or ball with the nobles. As a student, I haven't participated in many, and I mostly remember them.
But I don't recall seeing her.
"I can't remember at all, but where did we meet?"
"It was at the toy store where you bought that witch's game. When you bought it, she was the shop assistant."
"What!? Is that true!?"
So in other words, she was at the register at that time.
Now that I think about it, while she is a noble here now, she was a commoner before.
And since Rolus was the one who paid and received the items, that's probably why he remembers her.
"How sad, she must have been staring at that witch during the payment... I clearly remember. At that moment, she was trembling. She must have been scared."
Seriously!?
Does that mean I'm recognized as the one who bought that creepy horror game in bulk and avoided?
What have I done!?
