Volume 1 Chapter 56 Mean Villainess, Reaching a 'Safe Ending'
"How could you, Leve! Which is more important to you, me or Flora?!"
"Sorry, Elena... it's Flora."
0Leve and I were having a heated argument.
My mother, apparently overhearing the commotion, wore a satisfied smile,
completely unaware of the true nature of the situation.
The origins of this incident trace back a little earlier.
Today was the graduation party for the upperclassmen.
But for my mother, it was also the day she envisioned as the 'ending' of this game.
Yes, the day when the heroine, Flora, would outsmart the mid-boss──the Mean Villainess, me──and get together with the ultimate heartthrob.
However, only my mother knew the full details of what would happen today, and I was merely guessing based on her words.
I had no idea what was about to unfold.
Of course, neither the heroine, Flora, nor the ultimate heartthrob, Leve, had any clue either.
So, it wasn't like we intentionally caused a scene.
It just so happened that during a casual conversation, Leve and I ended up in a heated argument.
In the morning, as I stepped into the classroom, I spotted Flora with a gloomy expression.
I was concerned about the god looking so downcast, but I didn't know how to approach her.
Should I ask, "What's wrong?"
Or perhaps, "Is something the matter?"
No, first, I should greet her.
"Good morning, Elena. You're blocking the entrance, you know?"
"Leve! Perfect timing! Flora seems troubled. Could you ask her what's wrong?"
"Why don't you ask her yourself?"
"I can't, I'm too nervous."
She's a god, after all.
"Well, I guess I can do that."
Leve said, with a hint of mischievousness in his smile.
I felt a twinge of annoyance, but I held back my complaints and stuck close behind Leve as we approached Flora.
"Good morning, Flora. Is something bothering you?"
"Good morning, Mr. Leve. No, well, I... I seemed worried?"
"Hmm? I didn't think you looked that worried, but Elena said you seemed troubled."
Hey, I turned around and nodded to Leve.
"Ah, good morning Ms. Elena."
"Good morning, Lady Flora... I mean, Ms. Flora?"
"Flora is fine!"
"Huh?"
"Haha, oh Elena, please don't sit so close behind me. I can't really translate or interpret for you like Rolus does. So, what's this trouble you want to discuss with us?"
Leve speaks to me casually, almost dismissively, all while laughing and pushing the conversation forward.
I feel like I'm about to choke on my retort, but I manage to swallow it down.
"Ah, um..."
Flora mutters, then rests her hand on her chin and softly says, "What should I do?"
"Ah, I can leave if I'm bothering you."
"No, it's not a bother at all! Well, it's just that... I'm afraid I might be causing some trouble for you and Mr. Leve."
Feeling guilty about causing them trouble, I smile wryly.
"Please don't worry about it, and if you could just tell me..."
"Sure, I'll do my best to help with whatever you need."
Flora hears these words from us, and after a brief moment of worry, she opens her mouth.
The summary of what she says is that rumors about the 3 of us have reached our parents, and they are very angry.
The rumors are about a tangled love triangle between us.
Flora is trying to take Leve away from me, it seems.
"I didn't mean for it to be like this..."
"Well. It's just that the very idea of you and Leve being a couple is absurd."
"Yeah."
Leve and I are just childhood friends and gaming buddies.
If anything, we're more like friendly rivals.
"So, my foster parents are angry, or worried, or... I'm just scared of making Ms. Elena upset."
"Why?"
I'm afraid of making me sick, but I also look like I'm in an evil organization.
"I think it's scary to get Elena's father's displeasure"
"Yes"
"I see. Actually, I think Leve is the most dangerous thing that Dad hears about.
"That's true. I also think it's a bit dangerous"
Flora seemed to have no idea what the words we poured were saying, so I told her.
How much my dad loves me.
How many marriage proposals my father has refused.
"So, my angry adoptive parents put in plausible arguments and were trying to demolish my father's workshop...or rather, my ex-father, I was born with him."
"Flora's Father's Workshop?"
"Yes. My father is a picture book author, and the workshop was making that game with me and my father"
It seems that the gods are trying to crush the workshop where gods were producing great games.
Punishment!
"Isn't it a dad's workshop for Flora?'
"Ahaha..."
Flora must also think something like Leve said.
However, considering her position, she can't complain to her adoptive parents.
I was thinking that we could somehow manage to do something, but Rudger called out to me.
"Hey. It's time to move to the hall"
By the way, today was a graduation party for senior students.
I'm not that far anymore.
