Volume 2 Chapter 6-2 The Mean Villainess Inherits Magic Techniques

"It seems I'm being liked. I have the Iolite and Ruby, right?"

"Yes. I have the Iolite I found at the ruins and the Ruby I received from an acquaintance."

"An acquaintance, or rather, Lady Ruby."

"The spirits residing in those 2 say it's okay because they're with me."

 "That's quite reassuring."

Hearing my mumble, the teacher snapped their fingers.

"Now, I've explained a lot, but in short, when you inherit magic techniques, things you couldn't see or hear before will suddenly come to you, so don't be surprised."

 "I-I see."

"It's a bit different from the stone divination I learned at the academy, but I'll teach you the differences properly, so don't worry."

 "Yes."

"That said, instead of reading meanings, you'll be listening to them, so it's easier and more accurate than what you learned! After all, the stones will teach you."

It might indeed be easier to convey what I've been taught than to read it myself.

"Then shall we begin the inheritance ritual?"

 "Yes."

"For now, I'll stand facing Ellie, so Rolus, stay close to Ellie."

 "Yes."

Why is Rolus sticking to my side?

"Make sure to support her, Rolus. Ellie might fall."

 "Understood."

"Huh, am I going to fall?"

 I didn't hear about that?

 "Okay, extend your hand, Ellie."

 "Y-yes."

As I nervously extend my hand, the teacher turns my palm upward.

Then, they place their hand over mine and take a deep breath.

"I'm going to send a bit of my magic power now. Ellie, just stay still."

 "Y-yes?"

My palm started to feel slightly warm.

And that warmth began to spread throughout my body as if it were coursing through my veins.

"With this, the first stage of the inheritance is complete."

At those words from the teacher, I truly lost consciousness.

 *

"Teacher, is Elena really going to be okay?"

"It's fine. When I inherited it, I felt just like this, but receiving this magical power makes me incredibly sleepy. I think I'll sleep for at least a whole day, so no matter what you want to do today, I definitely won't wake up, Rolus!"

 "I want to... do whatever..."

* * *

The next time I regained consciousness was 2 days later.

 "Good morning, my lady... Elena."

 "Good morning... I was dreaming."

 "A dream, you say?"

"Yeah. I was playing a game."

 "Sounds just like you, Elena."

 Rolus chuckled softly.

He was probably imagining my usual self and laughing, but in reality, it was just a little different.

Because what I was doing in the dream was playing a game from my previous life.

That was a game I had been obsessed with just before I died in my previous life, along with other game enthusiasts.

In the dream, I was having a nostalgic and immersive time playing.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a lucid dream, so I only vaguely remembered it being fun.

 "Are you feeling okay?"

"Huh? Oh, now that you mention it, I'm perfectly fine."

The glitches I had been warned about before the inheritance, like accidentally seeing things that weren't there or hearing things that were silent, hadn't occurred.

"I'll go report to the teacher, so please stay lying down, Elena."

"Thanks. Oh, I'm thirsty, so could you please bring me some water?"

 "Understood."

After watching Rolus's back as he left the bedroom, I wobbled a bit but headed towards the drawer where I kept my jewels.

I wanted to confirm whether I could really hear the voices of the spirits residing in the stones.

I took out a leather pouch from the drawer and returned to the bed.

Then I arranged the jewels on my lap.

 "O-oh."

The moment I placed the jewels on my lap, they began to sparkle and call my name in a mysterious voice that was neither male nor female.

"Um, it seems I've successfully started to hear your voices. Once again, nice to meet you."

As I said that, the jewels sparkled even more happily.

I squinted a bit, feeling slightly intimidated, but thankfully, they didn't emit the blinding brilliance that nearly burned my retinas like when I first held them.

 I'm glad.

Each of the jewels exhibited a myriad of sparkling lights, and feeling an inexplicable affection, I gently rubbed the jewels when the teacher arrived.

 "Ellie, are you okay?"

"Yes, I'm fine. I was able to greet my jewels."

When I smiled weakly from the bed, the teacher rushed over and hugged me tightly.

"You've safely inherited them! I'm so happy. Now you are my first and last disciple."

"Thank you, Teacher. Ah, or should I call you, Mother-in-law?"

"Oh my, either way, I'm so happy!"

In my ears, I could hear Rolus' tiny giggles and the voices of blessings from the jewels.

Thus, I became an apprentice stone diviner.
