Volume 6 Chapter 17 Town Creation: The Concept is Important
As the sun began to set, they arrived at the town, where buildings were starting to emerge just like the unfinished walls of a castle.
"Amazing! I can't see past the town!"
Just as Randy had said with a smile, the town was expanding significantly towards the side opposite from where they stood.
"It looks like it's going to be quite a large town!"
Indeed, the main street they walked through was impressive enough to rival Rivernant, the finest city in the Dukedom.
Although the number of buildings surrounding the streets was still sparse, the many foundations indicated that soon, the streets would be bustling with buildings.
"This is great! I don't know why, but it's so exciting!"
Randy felt as though he could hear the lively voices, and he and Liz were thrilled together.
In Randy's view, a familiar sign caught his eye.
"Adventurers' Guild... Just as expected from Mr. Aaron, he's quick!"
As Randy said with a wry smile, the Guild, positioned perfectly facing the main street and not far from the entrance, already had lights shining.
This meant it was in operation.
"It's quite far to the Beast Forest, yet there's a demand?"
"This area has many weak beasts, so it's just right for novice adventurers, don't you think?"
Just as Randy pointed out, the edges of Victor had mid-tier beasts, making it an easy place for adventurers to operate.
Plus, as the town grew larger with more movement of people and goods, there would naturally be an increase in various requests.
Being an adventurer wasn't just about slaying beasts.
"Regarding the town, we are amateurs, so that's fine... But the fact that the foundations are already in place means they have tenants lined up."
"That's true."
"I wonder if the concept will go through."
With his shoulders slumped, Randy felt down, but Liz encouraged him with, "Let's talk to the town mayor first," and they headed to the magistrate's residence, which also served as their lodging for the night.
* * *
"...Hmm. Why do humans have no greed at all?"
As Randy said with a wry smile, the magistrate's residence was a small, stone-built house.
Of course, it was stylishly decorated to stand out among the magnificent town streets, but unless told, one would hardly recognize it as the magistrate's house, as it blended into the surrounding scenery.
The port town was a small fortress.
The new town street was a modest stone house.
Considering the influx of money into both, it wouldn't be too greedy to want a bit more.
"Isn't that Victor?"
As Liz smiled and said, it was indeed very Victor-like.
Welcoming the two who arrived at the magistrate's residence, characteristic of Victor, was the town mayor with a joyful expression, standing next to him...
"Huh? Keith?"
...Indeed.
It was Keith, Victor's steward, who greeted Randy and Liz.
"Thank you for your hard journey."
Bowing respectfully, Keith spoke as Randy jumped down from the driver's seat.
"I was wondering why I hadn't seen you around the residence."
"Yes. I was entrusted with the construction instructions in place of my master."
As Keith gleamed with his monocle, Randy was helping Liz down from the carriage.
"I see. So that's why things are progressing so systematically."
Having assisted Alan in various reforms regularly, Keith was quite adept with the design and construction instructions for the town.
"Huh? Then what about this letter...?"
Randy tilted his head and presented the letter to the town mayor, who was comparing Keith and Randy.
The town mayor, surprised that a letter was coming to him, opened it with a bewildered expression.
After staring at the letter for a moment, the town mayor exhaled with a look of realization, saying, "Indeed, I have received it."
At this sight, Randy tilted his head, while Keith called out to the town mayor, "The letter──"
Prompted by Keith, what the town mayor handed over within the letter was...
"Perhaps a good idea is coming to mind. It would be wise to get advice from Randolph as well."
...that was all that was written.
"Old man..."
Seeing the letter, Randy couldn't stop his wry smile.
After all the warnings in the office, this was the assistance he received.
In Randy's mind, Alan with a smug expression was saying, "Isn't it better than a fortress?"
It was precisely because Alan understood Randy's character well that this exchange in the office and the letter made sense.
If he thought he could meddle in everything, Randy and Liz might just end up building a fortress.
However, now that he had heard it was just assistance, time had passed, and various ideas had been filtered.
"Moreover, the fact that Keith is here means..."
"Yes. I am the supervisor."
Randy gave another wry smile at Keith's cheerful grin.
No matter how calmly one thought about the town, a person to hold the reins was indeed necessary.
"I feel like I've been played by the old man... but well, that's fine for now. For the time being, I want to exchange opinions with Keith."
In response to Randy's suggestion, the town mayor nodded vigorously and urged Randy and Liz to the mansion.

The office in the mansion was quite spacious.
According to what he heard, since the mansion also served as a government office, the reception room was combined with the office.
"This size allows for an efficient room layout."
Just as Keith said, the interior of the mansion was filled with a functional beauty that was logically organized.
"Nice. This rational atmosphere. I like Victor's mansion, but this systematic vibe is also appealing."
