Volume 6 Chapter 24-2 The Embarrassment When the Metaphor You Thought You Knew Doesn't Work

That's precisely why Saint is taking command, to mobilize this many people... It's a kind of appeal.

"That's so fake. I would believe it if it were Archbishop Ridley."

With a sidelong glance at Randy, Catherine pouted and continued, "It's about caring for the believers."

Such a massive relocation, and overseas no less.

The believers aren't just filled with hope.

There's anxiety about the treatment they'll receive at their destination.

Doubts about whether things will actually go smoothly.

All of that care is necessary.

And the one to take on that responsibility is none other than Saint Catherine──

"Even more fake. I would believe it if it were Lady Annabelle."

Randy's gaze was no longer just skeptical.

With a completely dubious look in his eyes, Catherine raised an eyebrow and said, "You really are rude."

"By the way, where's Leon? Your babysitter."

"Who needs a babysitter? I'm no baby!"

 "You didn't say that directly."

With a wry smile, Randy listened as Catherine, still pouting, explained that Leon was on a business trip to Hartfield with Annabelle.

 "Why's that?"

"Because we're sending *personnel* to Hartfield."

What on earth is she talking about?

Despite Catherine's demeanor, Randy wanted to understand why Catherine was separate while Annabelle and Leon were together.

"Hold on. Why are Lady Annabelle and Leon a team?"

A perfectly reasonable question, and after understanding this, Catherine pouted and continued, "There are other guides too, you know."

"Considering various factors... it's a team by Lance."

Catherine's words made Randy tilt his head, "A team by Lance?" Just then, he felt a familiar presence approaching, making him shudder slightly.

 "...You... no way──"

When Randy's smile stiffened, a calm voice he recognized called out, "Miss Catherine?" accompanied by the sound of someone descending the stairs with a soft thump.

"──It's been a while, Lord of [Battle Demon]... Ah, it's good to see you again."

Waving his hand gently was the smiling Julius.

Upon seeing this, Randy froze for a moment, then placed a hand on Catherine's shoulder and uttered in a chilling voice, "Hey..."

 "W-What...?"

Catherine instinctively stiffened at the different atmosphere from Randy.

She slightly lowered her gaze, unable to discern his expression.

Just then, all eyes turned to Randy.

"You... Why is it always you?! Aaargh!"

Randy suddenly shouted while raising his eyebrows, causing Catherine to flinch and slightly recoil, saying, "I don't get what you mean!"

"That's clearly a N*-Face (Ka*nashi), right?! Why would you drag him into Victor's (Bathhouse)?!"

Pointing at Julius, Randy was met with Abel and Julius, who tilted their heads and asked, "N*-Face?" at the same time, but Randy and Catherine wouldn't back down.

 "Dragging in a N*-Face..."

Catherine whispered, tilting her head and asking, "A god's abduction?" to which Randy nodded vigorously.

 "W-Who's the old hag?!"

"No way! You clueless fool! It wasn't an old hag! It's the Protagonist, you idiot!"

With an angry voice, Randy pointed at himself, saying, "The old hag is on this side!"

Catherine's reaction was so baffling it was obvious she didn't know the content.

In other words, no one except Randy understood the analogy, including Catherine.

"Seriously. You do unnecessary things, and you don't know a thing at all. What can you even do?"

Snorting, Randy replied, "If you dragged him in, then he's the Protagonist!" while Catherine puffed her cheeks.

"Shut up. You clueless fool. Give back my Super Special analogy!"

Randy grimaced deeply, and Catherine turned her face away, exclaiming, "Enough already!"

"... It seems like we're not welcome?"

Shrugging, Julius said while Randy scratched his head and muttered, "Sorry about that."

"Right now, we're being targeted by some weird blue gourds. Apparently, they're from the Empire..."

Randy shrugged, and Julius nodded, saying, "I see."

Even though Julius had renounced his title as a prince and given up his status, considering his position, it made sense that Randy had shown a rejection response.

"I know you're not a bad guy, but..."

With a sigh, Randy glared at Catherine, saying, "This is your fault."

"You're so noisy. Always whining about the past... for someone of your size, you have a small heart."

Catherine snorted, emphasizing that Julius was no longer a part of the Empire but a member of the Church.

"This man's status is guaranteed by the Church, and I can vouch for him. Even if you can't trust Julius, you can trust me, right?"

Catherine smiled slyly... but Randy snorted, saying, "That makes me trust you even less."

 "Wha──"

"However... putting aside the question of Miss Catherine's trustworthiness... what she says is certainly true."

Stepping forward, Randy bowed his head, moving Catherine aside.

"Mr. Julius, I apologize for my rudeness."

To Randy's bow, Julius shook his head, saying it was only natural to be cautious of suspicious individuals as someone who protects a territory.

"If I were in your position, I wouldn't want to deal with someone as suspicious as me."

Randy returned a wry smile, saying, "Then don't come around."

"That's an impossible request. Interest can't be suppressed... you understand, right?"

With a sly smile, Julius nodded, and Randy could only agree, "Well, I guess."

"That said, it was quite rude to barge in while you were busy."

As Julius bowed his head and turned to leave, Randy called out, "Wait a moment."

"Since I've already intruded, I want to ask you something."

At Randy's earnest gaze, Julius turned to face him, saying, "If it's within my ability to answer."

"[Pilgrim of Truth]. Have you heard that name before?"

At Randy's serious expression, Julius let out a large sigh,

"I know it well; it's likely an organization my brother is involved with."

Julius's response instantly froze the air that had been lingering in the dungeon.
