Volume 1 Chapter 28 The Banished Half-Elf and the Foolish Prince [Dranix I]
In the world where Guildmaster Act lives, there are numerous countries.
Among them was a small nation ruled by elves.
A girl named Mida worked in the stables of that country.
However, before Mida and the others, Crown Prince Dranix appeared and said this.
"You all are fired as of today."
Dranix looked around at Mida and the others as he spoke.
"W-What!? Why are we getting fired?"
Bravely, Mida fired back at Dranix.
But a Knight of the Guard approached and kicked Mida in the gut──THUD!
"Ouch! What are you doing?!"
"Shut your mouth, filthy blood! Don't get close to His Highness the pure-blooded Crown Prince Dranix!"
Dranix looked down on Mida, mocking her.
"Listen well, filthy blood... meaning you Half-Elves. You all are aware that our king has recently changed, right?"
Mida and the others nodded.
Several months had passed since the former king had passed away.
"The throne has been inherited by my father, Baranix, the brother of the late king."
Unlike the former king, Baranix is a staunch purist.
He likely cannot tolerate the existence of Half-Elves.
"I am here to convey my father's decision. All Half-Elves must leave this country by today."
"""W-WHAT!?!"""
Mida and the other Half-Elves opened their eyes wide and shouted.
"N-No way!"
"This is terrible...!"
"What are we supposed to do now?!"
But Crown Prince Dranix snorted and replied.
"I couldn't care less. Leave wherever you wish. If you refuse... I can have you executed right here."
With a whoosh, the guards drew their swords.
Pure-blooded elves possess greater magic power than Half-Elves.
If they went all out, the Half-Elves would be turned to ashes in an instant.
Ignoring her trembling companions, Mida stepped forward and said.
"This is ridiculous! THERE'S NO WAY WE'RE ACCEPTING SUCH UNFAIRNESS!"
"To the Crown Prince, what in the world are you saying?!"
"SHUT UP! You think we're tainted blood? YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR MIND! We have the blood of the forest people running through us! Even the previous king, he called us friends, didn't he?"
The previous king was a different kind of ruler from the current King Baranix.
He was a king with a big heart.
He treated everyone equally, regardless of whether they were mixed blood or pure blood, a kind king.
And that's why he gave jobs to mixed-blood people who were discriminated against.
"Tainted blood is not one of us. If you make any more rude remarks to the Crown Prince, you'll regret it. By the way... I hear your mother was sick, wasn't she?"
Mida's face turns pale.
"W-what... Do something to my mom... I won't let you... GAH!"
A fire magic blast exploded on Mida's face.
"MIDA!"
"MID-MID!"
At the order of Prince Dranix, the Knights of the Guard launched their magic.
The half-elves rush to Mida's side.
"Get out of my way, you tainted bloods. You'll meet the same fate...?"
Mida was hit by the fire magic directly, and her face was severely burned.
Seeing her terrible condition, the half-elves tremble in fear.
"It's an order. Leave this country immediately. If you disobey..."
Dranix grabbed Mida's hair and lifted her up.
He pointed his staff at Mida's throat.
"LET GO OF MID-MID!"
"DON'T DO IT!"
"She's a good girl who works for her sick mother!"
"TO HURT A CHILD LIKE THAT WITH MAGIC IS DESPICABLE!"
"Hmph... If you're so eager to die, I'LL GRANT YOUR WISH."
As Dranix was about to order his men to kill the half-elves, that's when...
Gnaw!
Mida bit down on Dranix' hand.
"OUCH! YOU LITTLE..."
BANG!
He swung his fist, but Mida wouldn't let go.
"EVERYONE! NOW! RUN!"
The half-elves hesitate, but then realize Mida's resolve and run away.
"YOU! YOU DID IT! YOU BASTARD!"
Dranix forcefully pulls Mida off and knocks her to the ground.
"YOU! YOU FILTHY BLOOD! YOU MANGY SOW! YOU DARE INJURE THIS NOBLE ME! YOU! YOU! DIE!"
Kicked over and over, Mida's body is covered in bruises.
Worse yet, as if venting his rage, he repeatedly torments her body with magic.
"DIE! DIE! DIE!"
"Excuse me... Prince Dranix. What about the escaped half-elf?"
"WHO CARES! GO AWAY!"
...Afterwards, Mida is battered and collapses.
"So you dared to defy me. You little half-elf brat. I could kill you, but... I'll sell you as a slave."
Looking down at Mida, covered in bruises and welts, Dranix lets out a cold sneer.
"Punishment for daring to defy me, you lowly thing."
"Wh... what?"
"What did you say?"
"You guys... kicked us out... this country... is going to be in big trouble..."
With labored breaths, Mida looks up at Dranix and says.
"You guys... don't know... what the half-elves... were doing... This... stable... it's like that... If we're gone... the horses... won't listen... The dragons at the dragon shed... will go haywire... and cause a ruckus... You'll... regret... this..."
"You're insane. There's no way that's true."
Dranix delivers a final blow, a powerful kick to her stomach.
Mida loses consciousness and goes still.
"Hey, get the slave trader and take this woman away."
"Understood. ...However, Prince Dranix"
"WHAT? YOU'RE GOING TO QUESTION ME?"
"N... no, but... could what this woman said be true?"
"The ramblings of a loser? You probably lied to get your half-elf comrades out of here. You crazy woman."
He spits on the ground.
"And you, you're fired today. Get out of here."
"WHAT!? WHY!?"
"This is your punishment for believing that trash woman's words over me. GET LOST, or I'll turn you into a piece of meat and sell you off."
Dranix Crown Prince returns the squeal and tries to leave the stable.
"Farewell, stupid woman. Pray that a good guy will buy you."
When the half-elf girl Mida defied the Crown Prince, she was sold into slavery.
She lamented her fate.
She was branded with impure blood, ridiculed, and torn away from her beloved mother, thrust into a strange land.
"Ma... ma... I... I can't... I'm sorry..."
As her consciousness wavered, Mida reached out for her mother.
...Someone grasped her hand.
"Not yet. It's too early to give up."
When she opened her eyes, she saw... a strange young man.
This was the beginning of Mida's encounter with Act Age of the Guild [Gem of Heavenly Gift].
Meanwhile, the Crown Prince and his entourage who had banished Mida would learn.
About their own foolishness.
