Volume 6 Chapter 69 Therefore, It's for Victor
The morning after Elliot's big explosion... the town of Heisenberg welcomed a slightly quiet morning, still feeling the effects of last night's chaos.
Everyone seemed scared; the people visible on the street were fewer than usual.
Randy sat on the cliff with the lighthouse, gazing blankly at the town.
As the sun slowly rose, the town began to fill with color...
"Good work."
Without turning around, Randy spoke, and silently, Miranda and the Dark Tide appeared behind him.
"Sir Randolph, thank you for helping with the aftermath."
Miranda and several members of the Dark Tide bowed deeply to Randy.
Even though he was close to Liz, he had helped the heir of another family all night.
A bow close to 90 degrees was their way of showing the utmost respect.
"No problem. I'm glad I could help a little."
Randy stood up and waved back at them.
Finally lifting their heads, Miranda and the others saw Randy shrug and speak.
"The main event is absent."
To hide his awkwardness, Randy scratched his cheek and walked past them.
On the other side of the cliff, the sea sparkled in the morning sun.
The endless sea was calm and beautiful.
But right now, that beauty only looked like the calm before the storm.
"Soon, battleships will come here, right?"
Randy murmured, his eyes seeing the harbor burning and the raging sea.
With the Pilgrim of Truth as the vanguard, that determination and attack were clear.
The fierceness of the imperial army that would come next was easy to imagine.
"It will be a tough battle..."
As Randy murmured, Miranda came to his side, clenching her fist and staring at the sea, knowing there was no choice but to fight.
Thanks to the rising sun, the town behind Randy began to show signs of life little by little.
"Should we ask the old man to send Harrison?"
"If Lord Walker can come, that would be great... but I'm worried about Sir Cedric's secret rivalry."
Miranda, smiling, told them that something had changed in Cedric since he watched the fight between Harrison and Airen at Waldner.
He seems to be very focused on Harrison, swinging his sword.
"Ah, that guy has the most beautiful sword technique, you know."
"Is that so?"
When Miranda said this with a smile, the space next to Randy twisted...
"Oh? Speak of the devil."
"I knew it would be here."
"Hey, long time no see."
...Liz and Cedric appeared.
Miranda and the members of [Dark Tide] knelt before the two who had shown themselves.
It seemed that when she wore this outfit, Miranda was fully committed to her role in [Dark Tide].
"Make yourself comfortable. You must have had a tough night."
Cedric smiled, and Miranda stood up, saying, "That's too kind," and the other members of [Dark Tide] followed her lead.
"I heard a rumble in the middle of the night. Was that you, Randy?"
Randy replied with a hesitant, "Well, it was me, or rather, something like that."
"Your Excellency, were you angry?"
"I wasn't angry."
"But I was surprised."
Randy let out a sigh of relief at Cedric and Liz's wry smiles.
Miranda, watching this, laughed again.
At the same time, Cedric shook his head with a wry smile.
It was unthinkable to be angry after receiving help and defeating an enemy officer.
"That's right. My father also said, 'I was saved.'"
Liz, smiling, suddenly remembered and pulled out a letter from her pocket.
"It's from my father to Sir Alan."
Seeing Liz's puzzled expression, it seemed she didn't understand the content either.
However, from Liz's words, it was clear that it was something he had quickly acknowledged after yesterday's commotion.
"...Wait. If this gets out to the old man, it could be bad..."
The only thing that comes to mind is when they came to Braubelg without saying a word.
And in this busy Braubelg, too.
Randy's face turned pale as he thought it was likely a big mess back with Victor.
Of course, it was much more chaotic than Randy predicted, but he wouldn't know that for a little while longer.
"Well, maybe the letter from Father to Sir Alan says, 'Don't scold too much'."
"Your Excellency, thank you!"
As Randy hugged the letter, everyone exchanged glances and smiled at each other.
"Randolph. I'm sorry to leave in a hurry, but I have to go now."
Randy bowed his head in response to Cedric's wave.
Even though he was busy, Cedric had come to show his face.
It seemed Cedric was trying to be considerate in his own way.
Then, Cedric whispered something to Miranda and hugged Liz.
"E-Elder Brother..."
"Next time we meet, it'll be after everything is over."
With that, Cedric smiled and waved his hand before disappearing.
He left so quickly that it felt like the Dark Tide had swept away in the wind.
"You suddenly hug me, you know!"
Randy laughed, saying it was typical Cedric, making Liz puff out her cheeks while everyone else joined in laughter.
"W-Wait, this isn't funny!"
Liz blushed, but everyone continued to tease her, saying it's good they got along so well.
Just as everyone was laughing, Miranda quietly murmured.
"We must fight to protect these days."
