Volume 6 Chapter 71-2 Just Because You've Gotten Older, Doesn't Mean You Can Become an Adult, Right?
"Is this your way of showing respect, Victor... but does Miranda truly understand your intentions?"
"Ah."
Randy nodded, and Alan responded with a big nod, turning to Volcan beside him.
"Father-in-law..."
"Ah."
The two exchanged nods and looked at Randy at the same time.
"We'll carry on your resolve."
Alan smiled, and Randy along with Liz brightened up noticeably.
Alan flashed another smile and began to speak, saying, "Well, you see..." about how they had already sent a reserve unit to Braubelg on Lucian's orders.
"No way..."
Randy and Liz exchanged looks again, realizing that even Cedric and Miranda didn't know this fact.
Only Lucian, Alan, and a part of the Victor Knight Brigade currently dispatched were aware.
This was a measure taken because the enemy was just so powerful.
"A strategy involving ambushes will surely be revealed to the enemy. Our experience in 'battle' is on a whole different level than theirs."
Shrugging his shoulders, Alan said that probably, only Rolf could match up to them.
"To outsmart a pro in battle, we must keep our cards hidden until the very end. And the unit sent to Braubelg is the last card from Lord Lucian."
Alan smiled, explaining that they were also exchanging information closely with Hartfield and Waldner.
Although battles were happening everywhere, there was only one enemy.
This means their military strength and morale were connected.
As Randy observed the parents, who foresaw each move like a game of chess, he let out a dry laugh, "H-Hahaha."
While the children were just realizing the enemy's size, the adults had already made moves anticipating the very endgame.
(As expected of His Excellency... they're all amazing.)
Just as Randy trembled again at the terror of Lucian and the others, Alan clapped his hands, saying, "This discussion is over."
"You all have your own things to do."
Alan urged them to prepare to head to the royal capital quickly, and Randy and Liz could only nod, agreeing with him.
The original schedule said the opening ceremony would be the day after tomorrow.
This means they must arrive in the royal capital by tomorrow.
Today, they need to finish their preparations, reach the royal capital, and wait for the solar eclipse a few days after the opening ceremony.
That is now the job of Randy and the others.
"We all know what we need to do. So, we just follow that... right?"
Alan hints that from here on, it's an adult problem, and Randy can only nod in agreement.
Even though it's his second life, he can't help them any more than this.
Of course, he has some knowledge of tactics, but poor military strategy could drag down Lucian and the noble families of the territory.
He just felt that painfully a moment ago.
"Alright, I got it. But I'm leaving it to you."
Feeling pushed away, Randy gave up and stood up from the sofa.
"When everything is done and I come back, I'll properly explain to Braubelg about the trouble I caused."
Alan smiled, but behind that gentle smile was anger, making Randy choke on his words.
At the same time, he handed over the letter entrusted to him by Lucian.
"'Don't be too angry,' it says."
"That's not──"
Did he say that?
Randy covered Liz's mouth with his hand before she could finish.
To those 2, Alan said, "By the way, if you went to Braubelg, did the teleportation gate experiment go well?"
"Yeah. We can teleport to a small island on the coast of Braubelg. But it's one-way."
Randy shrugged, and Alan's eyes sparkled, saying that was amazing.
"Once everything is done, I want to drink with Lord Lucian. Can you make it so I can go too?"
"Well, if it's just the old man."
Reluctantly nodding, Randy handed over a processed magic stone as energy and said he would open a path to the hut before leaving the room.
After Randy and the others left, Alan and Volcan, who remained in the office, opened the letter from Lucian.
"What does it say?"
"Yes... to sum it up, it's thanks to Randy for defeating the Four Saints of the [Pilgrim of Truth], I guess."
Alan muttered, but his face was not very good.
After all, they had struck the enemy's first move at such a critical moment.
With that news, the Empire might strengthen their forces even more.
If there is someone strong enough to defeat the Four Saints...
Randy's actions had disrupted the enemy's plans, but they also significantly affected the strategies of Alan and Lucian, who had anticipated the enemy's moves.
"Really. What a troublesome grandson."
Volcan smiled wryly, and Alan, with a smile, tucked the letter into his pocket, saying, "Thanks to that, I have made up my mind."
"Oh... then──"
"Yes. I was thinking of adding Harrison as extra support... but we should send the captain instead."
Volcan silently nodded at Alan's serious expression.
"That child has promised, relying not on his own power, but on the house of Victor. So, it is my duty as lord and father to respond with all my strength."
"That little rascal has grown up."
Encouraged by Volcan's hearty laughter, Alan hurriedly left the office.
After that...
The next day, Alan made the decision, contacted Harrison, and quickly completed the reorganization of the Knight Brigade, just as Randy and the others were set to depart for the royal capital.
And the day after everyone saw Randy and the others off as they teleported to the royal capital... on what should have been the day of the school opening ceremony, troops displaying the Empire's flag appeared all over the distant kingdom.
'We are concerned for the kingdom's people who are exposed to the threat of heretics──'
The group, stating the obvious introduction, appeared in the northern plains where Waldner was on alert.
At the western port, where Hartfield and Gardner had fortified their defenses.
And...
"They've finally come."
From the cliff with the lighthouse, Cedric, holding a telescope, spotted a fleet of warships flying the Empire's flag in the distance.
Three days until the eclipse...
