Volume 4 Chapter 9 if You're Not a Cultist, It Seems Like He Could Drink Some Good Alcohol

 "Who are you?"

Gripping the staff tightly, I questioned the knight-like man standing at the entrance of the warehouse.

The guards were not amateurs, and there were two of them.

If he took them out in an instant, this guy must be quite skilled.

The black knight with hair mixed with white wore his hair slicked back, and his weapon was a black greatsword with a blade as wide as Lene's waist, stained with the fresh blood of the guards.

Knowing who he was was important, but striking first was also crucial.

When looking at Lene, it seemed she was already preparing to cast magic.

 As expected of this area.

"Well, since you asked, I should introduce myself. I'm Miloslaf, a devoted knight of the temple to Lady Abnella."

 "...What?"

I couldn't hide my surprise at Miloslaf's words.

When Abnella was mentioned, it obviously referred to the Evil God Abnella.

So, he claimed to be a knight of that temple.

"Well, even if I call myself a temple knight, you guys might just think of me as an 'Evil God knight'."

Miloslaf shrugged as he added that.

The loud clink that followed was probably from his armor.

"...Do you have no resistance to calling your god like that?"

"No, not at all. What's important is how I personally feel about God Abnella."

Without a hint of disturbance, Miloslav answered calmly.

His words, clear and unwavering, made me think, "What a troublesome guy."

Someone with a strong belief often has no weaknesses.

This guy is not just some ordinary cultist like Emerada.

"I see, a devout believer. Impressive."

"Thanks. ...Now, about why I'm here, you know it's to kill you, right?"

Miloslav shot back with a joke, but a strong killing intent rose from his body.

I heard Aine gasp behind me.

This might be a bit too much for a scholar.

"Sad to say, you're here on orders, right? To kill the enchanter who creates magic stones with divine power because he's dangerous."

When I asked, Miloslav chuckled and nodded, saying, "You catch on quick."

...So, the cultists are after me again after 4 years.

But I had thought about this situation.

That's why I've been preparing my magic stones.

"That's right. ...But my reason for coming here isn't just that."

"What do you mean by that?"

Miloslav slammed the tip of his flat greatsword on the floor and glared at me.

His eyes were like those of a fierce beast.

Any ordinary person would shrink back or lose their nerve.

However, I must protect Lene and Aine.

I can't back down from a dangerous person who suddenly appears.

With a cool face, I brushed off the sharp gaze from Miloslav, who let out a small laugh through his nose.

The unchanging killing intent made my stomach feel like it was burning, but I held on.

"You see, I'm interested in you. A Count who is also an enchanter, fighting on the front lines. That's the kind of person I want to be."

"If that's the case, I hope you'll let me go."

"But it can't be that easy. My interest is in fighting you. The prey isn't that staff, but your fists, right?"

 "...Do you know?"

"Of course, I've heard it from Emerada."

So he was in touch with Emerada too.

Well, if he came here targeting me as a cultist, that makes sense.

Or is fighting his true goal?

Can't imagine someone like me could satisfy a battle maniac.

"You're an apostle of Abnella, right? You must have the power of 'God Slayer.' I can't go all out."

When I asked, surprisingly, Miloslav shook his head and denied it.

"No, I don't have the power of 'God Slayer.' Abnella doesn't like me."

 "Still, you follow them?"

"It's the painful part of unrequited love."

 The black knight laughed heartily.

He had quite a good personality.

If only he weren't a cultist.

"...Well, enough chatting. Let's get to fighting. ──Oh, you there, elf. If you interfere, I'll kill you first."

As Miloslav said this, his left hand moved with a speed that was almost invisible, and then──there was a thud behind Lene.

Turning to look, a knife was stuck in the wall of the warehouse.

 No way, right?

My wife, who was preparing to chant magic, stared wide-eyed at the wall.

"...Lene, don't get involved. I'm not sure if the 'Magic Stone of Great Absolute' will even work."

 "Y-yeah, be careful...?"

I said that and handed my stick to my wife.

It's to gain the blessing of the "Magic stone of Fyrel" without any weapons.

Then, I charged a few magic stones hanging at my waist with Magic Power to activate them.

 "Right, one-on-one is the best!"

Miloslav's loud laugh echoed through the warehouse.

It was hard to believe we were about to start a fight.
