Volume 5 Chapter 33 ACT.164 Ripple (II)
"Is it okay if I sit next to you?"
Saying that, Rize quickly sits down right next to the person in question.
Among the people gathered in this cafeteria, the only one who hasn't joined the conversation and looks serious is Aisha Seven.
"Um, yeah, that's fine."
Aisha replies with a distant tone, and Rize secretly pumps her fist in joy.
This is better for her because it makes it easier to hear the conversation.
"You seem more tired than usual. Did something happen?"
Rize glances at Aisha's face, trying to sound casual as she asks.
Normally, Aisha is full of energy, but today she seems oddly subdued.
Rather than just subdued, it's almost like she's wilted.
"I'm not tired──well, maybe I am a bit tired?"
Aisha presses her temples, looking like she's just bitten into a sour lemon.
"You might have heard, but there was an incident at the Beast Vault, where they keep animals for gladiatorial fights."
"An incident?"
Rize's eyes widen in surprise at the unexpected news.
She thought the commotion was just due to an accident or some illness that caused the beasts to die.
"It seems someone sneaked in at night and killed a bunch of the beasts."
Aisha's face shows her anger and frustration.
Meanwhile, Rize feels her blood run cold.
She knows from experience that the beasts used in gladiatorial fights are not weak.
Only someone like her respected senior, Rai Conwell, or the Purge Knights could pull off such a feat.
This means that Alfonso and Belta, who are currently in this town, must be the culprits.
Not noticing Rize's pale face, Aisha apologizes to her.
"Because there are not enough animals, we have to make some changes. I feel bad for Rize, whose next match is still far away, but she might have to play in the upcoming match."
"(What are those seniors doing, oh my goshhh!!)"
Rize bit back a scream in her mouth, feeling a little hopeless that she had to wear that outfit again, which looked like underwear.
