Volume 3 Chapter 6-2 The Villainous Guildmaster, Scouting Delinquents in the Town

Trish left Act and made her way into the seedy backstreets of the slum town.

"Damn... that guy... what was his deal..."

 As usual, she picked pockets.

She had a special talent for running faster than anyone else.

She's used this skill to pick pockets all this time.

 It was to survive.

...But it was so the children she looked after could live.

"...Can't be helped. No one's gonna hire a kid like me, right?"

Trish was discarded by her parents.

 The other children were too.

Children, especially those without guardians, had no chance of finding work.

 They couldn't become adventurers either.

In the end, they had no choice but to turn to crime.

But not everyone could do it.

Children without a special talent like Trish had no choice but to wait for starvation.

"...I have to... I have to do it. I..."

 And then, at that moment—

 "Found you, brat...!"

She was struck from behind with an empty wine bottle.

 "Ugh... ah, you're..."

A drunk adventurer was staring Trish down.

It was the same adventurer she had pickpocketed earlier.

"You...! How dare you take my money...!"

 ...She messed up.

Trish cursed herself internally.

She had been distracted by that odd-looking man earlier and hadn't noticed this adventurer.

 "Give back my money!"

"Th, that's not possible! I already spent it!"

Trish tried to activate her skill and run away.

But her legs gave out and she fell.

 "Wh, what... this...?"

The adventurer looked down at the fallen Trish.

"I know your tricks, so I used a paralysis skill on you."

 "Fu, FUCK..."

She tried to stand up and run, but her legs wouldn't cooperate.

"I'll make you regret messing with adults... Hmm?"

The adventurer noticed something as he glared at Trish.

"Haha! So you're a girl, huh!"

At first glance, they seemed like a man, but a closer look revealed the body lines of a woman.

"Hehe... just right... how about you pay back that favor with your body~?"

 "N, NO... stop... please..."

The adventurer dragged them into an empty alley and tossed the trash aside.

They pulled down their pants and straddled the trash.

"Hehe! You're the bad one, right? If you do bad things, you get punished, of course, don't you?"

 ...Yes, that's right.

This world is all about cause and effect.

She has tricked so many people until now.

It's only natural to receive her punishment.

 ...But on the other hand—

"Don't kill me... what's wrong? The ones who are bad are the adults who gave birth to us... who abandoned us without any responsibility...!"

If cause and effect is the norm in this world, then there should be no reason for our children to be discarded.

 "SHUT UP! OPEN YOUR LEGS...!"

 And then, at that moment—

 "Eeek...!"

The man let out a strange cry and collapsed with a thud.

 "S, sorry, brother..."

Standing behind the adventurer was a young man with black hair.

"Hmph. You made me kick something dirty."

He kicked the cowering adventurer away and reached for the trash.

 "Are you okay?"

 "Y, yeah..."

He helped the trash to their feet.

"You have a useful skill. But... what a waste. You haven't used it at all."

"H, how do you know about my skill...?"

 "Well then—"

Meanwhile, the adventurer got back up.

 "W, what do you want!"

 "I'm Act Age."

"A-Act Age...! Ah, you're the infamous... Villainous Guildmaster of the Adventurers Guild!?"

 The adventurer was stunned.

"If you dare touch that child, I'll revoke your adventurer's license."

 "U, ugh... dam... DAMN IT...!"

The man lunged forward to punch.

But Act neatly dodged and landed a counter on his stomach.

 "Fuuuugh...!"

With a clean hit, the man fell to the ground.

Before that, Act had taken out a leather pouch from their pocket and dropped it in front of him.

"This is the money you took from that kid. I've got the exact same amount ready. Use this to settle things."

 "W-why...?"

"My eyes see through the past. Got it? Let's call it even with this. Zalgo from Nebula Sky."

Act saw right through, even to the name and group.

"If you tell anyone about this, you know what will happen... You know better than anyone."

 "Eek! Aaaah!"

The adventurer, scared by Act's glare, ran off crying.

 "You okay?"

"W-why... why are you helping me?"

Act snorted and said to the confused Trish,

"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not helping you. This is a scout."

 "A-scout...?"

"Yeah. You know the slum streets inside out. Plus, you're fast... You'll be useful. I want you. I'm not helping you."

Trish stared, surprised.

"Aren't you mad? I stole your money."

"That was an expense. If I can get a hidden talent like you for such a small price, it's cheap."

...This adult was different from the dirty others.

Trish thought so.

"Work for me. I'll take care of the other kids too. I'll pay you well."

Act reached out his hand.

Trish grabbed it.

"Please let me work for you, Mr. Act!"
