Volume 3 Chapter 9 The Villainous Guildmaster, Forces Harsh Labor on Subordinates

I decided to hire the delinquents of the town to build a branch of our Guild in the Royal Capital.

I'm having my dwarf friends from the Merchant Guild, like Torio, help build the Guild Hall.

 One day,

"Ouch...! What are you doing, you jerk!?"

At the construction site, I grab a delinquent's arm.

"What can you do with that arm? It's a waste of time. Go home."

 "Tsk...! Fine! Damn it!"

The delinquent curses at me as he walks away.

 "G-Guildmaster... What happened?"

 "Oh, Trish."

Trish, a girl from the slums, works for me too.

"D-Did you fire him? Was it because he was bad at carpentry?"

"What are you talking about? He broke his arm!"

 "Huh? B-Broken...?"

I nod and say to Trish,

"He fell from the worksite this morning and tried to work while hiding his injury. That's why I told him to go to the clinic."

The guy from earlier, after getting first aid, approaches me again.

"Mr. Act! I... can still work! Please don't fire me!"

"Who said anything about firing you? You have a sick sister and need money, right?"

 The guy's eyes widen.

 "H-H-How do you know that...?!"

"Of course I know my subordinates' profiles."

The guy stands there with his mouth hanging open.

"Just go fix your arm quickly. I'll work you hard when you get back, so be ready."

"Mr. Act...! Thank you so much!"

 I tell the bowing man,

"What are you thanking me for? I just want more workers. I want to finish my Guild Hall soon."

In short, I'm just using him for my own needs.

 "......"

 The man looks dumbfounded.

Then he smiles widely and says,

 "You're a good leader!"

With that, the guy walks away.

 "You're a strange one."

"No... I think you're the strange one..."

Trish said with a look of disbelief.

"By the way, do you know what time it is?"

I glared at Trish, who had just arrived for work.

 "S-sorry... Guildmaster. I overslept..."

"You fool. I told you your shift starts in the evening."

 "Huh...?"

Trish tilted her head in confusion.

"You were supposed to work an 8-hour shift starting late. You should rest until evening."

I had split the delinquents into 2 groups for better efficiency.

Morning to evening shift, early start.

Evening to night shift, late start.

Trish was supposed to be in the late group, but she showed up before noon.

 "Oh, r-right... I forgot. Sorry!"

"Why don't you ask me if you don't understand something? I gave you the Communication Magic Item for that."

The Communication Magic Item lets you talk to anyone, anywhere.

I gave it to the workers for free.

It's for times like this... honestly.

"But, is it really okay to give such an expensive thing to us delinquents? Aren't you worried we might sell it?"

"Do you think I can't see through you guys? I know you wouldn't do that."

 Trish stared at me closely.

But then she relaxed her eyes.

"You really are different from those other dirty adults. No wonder you're the master of the S-Rank Guild."

"Don't be stupid. I'm a man who will use dirty tricks to achieve my dreams. Got it?"

 "Okay, okay, I got it."

"Then hurry home and get some sleep. I won't accept you coming in tired."

"Oh, are you going to punish me?"

"Yeah. I'll make you use your vacation days and force you to rest."

 "That's a scary punishment."

 Trish chuckled softly.

"Alright, I'll go home and sleep. See you later, Guildmaster!"

 "Get going already."

 Trish left with a smile.

"Hey, Guildmaster... I'm really glad to see you. Thank you! I... was super lucky!"

 With that, she heads home.

Good grief, I wonder what those delinquents and Trish are thankful for.

 "Mr. Act."

 "Rozelia?"
