Volume 23 Chapter 11-2 Rescue Preparation Continued
"I'll store that dead body and the Magic Bag with the weapons. You're giving weapons to the captured people, right?"
Reginald nods. He probably thinks they can fight if he gives weapons and lockpicking tools to the Levy merchant guild mercenaries captured in the city.
The problem is the entry route, but according to Orson, crossing the stone wall seems possible.
"If we can hand over the weapons without being seen, we won't need to worry about hostages anymore."
Reginald's voice is quite upbeat.
"Orson should be around there. We'll check the area from a distance first, then regroup after seeing how the stone wall is built."
Al circles the mansion at a low altitude using 'Fly,' scanning with the 'Floating Eye.'
As Orson said, some spots can be approached close to the wall without being seen from the central tower or the top of the stone wall. Get close below the wall, and they won't be spotted as long as they stay out of sight.
As Al predicted, the Magic Tool only reacts at the gate. No reaction from the rest of the stone wall. In this case, they can go up to the wall and cast spells without being detected.
Al and the others land near the tree where Orson is hiding.
"Good job. Thanks for the lookout."
"Yeah, no problem. Glad you're safe too."
Reginald and Orson bump fists, praising each other.
"Guildmaster Levy isn't in the big 3-story house, it's in the building between 2 others outside. I got this info directly from Levy using the Telepathy spell. The stone wall is probably about 50 centimeters thick, so we'll open a hole with magic. I spotted some dense bushes where we can hide from view once we do. From there, it's about 100 meters to the north wall of the building where Levy is trapped. The problem is, we'll be caught from 2 places: the guard tower in the central house and the patrols on top of the wall, so we need to plan carefully."
Al, Reginald, Orson, and Reginald's female subordinate all crossed their arms and thought deeply.
"Do we have any way to get onto the wall? If so, I can attack the guards and cause a distraction."
The female subordinate suggested this. Since we'll use the 'Softening Stone' spell to make the hole, making a makeshift footing to climb the 3-meter wall isn't a problem.
But, the patrols go in pairs. Will that be okay? Al glanced at Reginald.
It'll be fine. Brenda is pretty skilled. If it's one-on-one, I probably couldn't handle it either. Whether it's the Shining Shield or the Black Knife Gang, 2 or 3 people aren't enough to be a threat. I've considered weight too, but that's not the only reason I brought her along.
When Reginald said that, the subordinate woman named Brenda smiled happily. That's good then. Al probably doesn't need to say anything about how to fight.
"I understand. I'll create a footing so we can climb up together when we make the hole. Please act as a decoy."
"Yes."
'Guildmaster Levy, we're about to begin the rescue operation.'
Al connected with Levy through Telepathy and explained the plan, including how to use the Magic Bag.
'Understood. I'll also brief my team. Right now, there are no guards in sight where we can see.'
"Let's go!"
"Yeah!"
In small voices, the 4 of them clutched their fists together, psyching themselves up before dashing off.
