Volume 2 Chapter 11-2 Essentially, 'The Person Being Tangled Up on the Way Out

Still... for a mere 'S-rank guild' to challenge the 'master of the hero community' is just too reckless.

 "Hah..."

 Horace glared slightly.

Just that glare made the man who had charged at him freeze up like he was paralyzed.

 "...W-what, my body..."

"Not having gone through a battlefield isn't weakness, and I don't care about your principles of right and wrong, but it's ridiculous that you don't realize you're being thrown in the trash. You don't even qualify to be my enemy."

It wasn't just the man in front of him who couldn't move from Horace's glare.

 There were 5 of them.

They were probably the 'main executives of Excalibur', and all of them were frozen in place, their faces pale.

"You guys. You don't have any admiration left, do you? Even if you did, you forgot it ages ago. Don't just barge into the realm of Adventurers like you own the place."

Horace said to Ellie and Ramella.

Adventurers should 'keep their admiration close to their hearts.'

Of course, there are those Horace admires too.

He's no longer an Adventurer, but back when he was, he held that admiration deep inside.

Naturally, the idea that Adventurers should keep their admiration close is his personal belief, and he doesn't care what anyone else thinks about it.

However, Horace insists that Adventurers should walk with that admiration in their hearts.

 "...Hah."

He stopped the intimidation with a sigh.

Then, the 5 of them collapsed to the ground.

Those who had been frozen on the cart lost their balance and fell to the ground.

 "W-what the hell are you!?"

"Horace. To put it simply for you, I'm the 'hero's master'."

 """""!?"""""

 Everyone was shocked.

 But...

 "N-no way! You're the hero's master!?"

The apparent leader couldn't accept it and shouted.

If he admitted that, it would mean he had picked a fight with the 'hero's master'.

They themselves think that having a 'high Adventurer rank' means they can act however they want without consequences.

They can't even imagine what kind of retaliation might come later.

Like how they robbed a wagon when the owner wasn't around, and then threatened to sell it for 3 copper coins because they couldn't steal it── they have no clue what's coming back for them.

No matter what Horace does to them, it's still 'their fault.'

"Well, nothing was actually stolen, so I'll say it was just an attempt. After all, you guys are just pawns for Pastor."

 "Huh?"

 "You don't need to understand."

 Horace started pulling the wagon.

"Just so you know, I'm not planning to forgive you. This robbery talk and especially the way you act as 'tyrants' while calling yourselves Adventurers──that's exactly how I think Adventurers shouldn't behave."

"D-Don't mess with me! Just because you're the hero's master, you're full of yourself. You were scared of the Demon Lord and shaking in the royal capital, just like the rest of us! Right now, *we* are the ones who matter──the top-ranking S-rank guilds!"

"So you think robbing people is okay? Don't underestimate society. We're living in an age when communication devices are spreading──think twice before making careless remarks."

The guards came running from a distance.

"We've heard everything. You S-Rank guild *Excalibur* leaders, what the hell were you thinking robbing the hero's master?!"

 "Wha──"

"You're under arrest! Recently, annoying groups like the *Cedal Alliance* have been making a scene in this town. We want to know what's going on, so be ready to spill it!"

 "W-Wait, I'm sorry, please forgive us──"

"You idiots just forget your warnings and apologies and keep doing stupid stuff! Take them away!"

 ""Yes, sir!""

The guards quickly moved and dragged all 5 leaders away.

The leaders struggled, but this country's guards have solid combat experience from the Great Mine of Gold World, so their strength is no joke.

Looking at them, I had no way to resist those 5 'powerful' people who seemed untrained.

"...I know it's inappropriate to say, but you're doing well."

"Lately, those guys have really been a pain. However, due to international law, there's this rule that says 'if you don't file a report, it isn't considered a crime', and actually, Adventurers do contribute quite a bit to this town..."

"It's hard to take a strong stance against the 'High-Rank Adventurers Guild'."

"Exactly. In the past, there was an experience where 'after arresting members of the guild, we couldn't manage the rest right, and it caused a significant economic blow' for the people of this city..."

"...When social issues arise, we should deal with that filthy curse of balance, but it seems everywhere goes to extremes."

"It's painful to hear, but that's how it is. It's inappropriate, but I can't help feeling a bit relieved that this time the victim was Sir Horace."

 "..."

If we're going to arrest staff from an S-Rank Guild, the victim has to have enough power to back it up.

It's quite a disregard for 'the law', but still, isn't this guard being a bit too inappropriate?

Of course, it must mean they've been troubled that much.

"On another note, there's something I want to make sure Sir Horace hears."

 "Hmm?"

"Are you aware of the discussions about establishing a 'Court Adventurers' section within the Adventurers' Association branch?"

"I think they mentioned something like that when I was there the other day."

"It seems like there's some progress in the royal capital of the Diamante Kingdom, but it also feels like it's not really going anywhere. There's talk in this country, but nothing is actually being done."

 "Hmm, I see."

"However, it seems there's a move at the association headquarters to make Cedal a Court Adventurer in this country."

"The headquarters, huh... ah, now I understand why you wanted me to know. Information. Thank you."

 "Thank you very much."

"Well then, good luck with your work."

"Yes. Please visit the palace again when you create something new, Sir Horace."

 "I'll remember that."

 "Well then, I'm off."

The guard bowed once, then just walked away.

 "...That damned Pastor brat."

Horace muttered that under his breath before he began pulling the cart.
