Volume 2 Chapter 9 Just Because the Antenna Arrived, Are You Really Making That All of a Sudden?
The 'antenna' from Diamante Kingdom was actually a square pyramid with a 3-meter base on each side and 10 meters tall.
──"Where the heck did something like that come from?"
It's the kind of thing you'd want to ask, but since it really was at the Diamante Kingdom's castle, there was no avoiding it.
...By the way, its volume is 3×3×10÷3, which makes 30 cubic meters.
Iron has a density of 7.85, so if this thing was a solid iron block, it would weigh a crazy 235.5 tons.
Still, since it's an 'antenna,' it's not just a solid iron chunk.
The iron is only there for reinforcement to get its height, so about 90% of the pyramid is hollow inside.
...Even then, it weighs about 23 tons, which really shows how massive these 'ancient relics' are.
Well, they broke it into pieces to move it, and also used magic to lighten it──tried everything to manage it somehow.
They brought it into the mansion's garden, and that 10-meter tower stood tall.
"Where in that castle did this even come from?"
"It was just left underground, split apart."
"Sounds like it wasn't even being used."
"It was a pain to put together, so they kept it as is, but even then it handled the royal city solo. If it were fully operational... who knows what it could do."
"What are you gonna use this for?"
"Hmm... first, it's gotta be a test."
"A test? I'll never understand what Master thinks up."
"So it means I'm cooking up some crazy thing again..."
Horace went to a nearby warehouse and brought a box full of thin metal plates.
"What's that?"
"Communication magic tools."
"Communication... isn't that usually something huge that takes up a whole building?"
"I shrank it down by every trick I know... but I'm bad at using it because the signal range I can handle is small, so it didn't work well. Then they said this antenna was arriving, so I made this to match it."
The 4 disciples each picked up a plate.
They seemed to enter numbers on the bottom half.
"Okay, press start... Oh, there are numbers under this cover, and you call someone by that. What's Rangella's number?"
"'009.'"
"It's a prototype, so I only made a hundred of them. That's why it's 3 digits. For now, I'm gathering testers to try it out and I want to hear their thoughts."
"Got it, well, for now... huh?"
Ramella called out to the board, but... no sound came from Rangella's side.
"Huh?"
"The incoming call light is still on, Rangella. You gotta press the button if you want to talk."
"That's right."
Rangella pressed the button.
"Ah..."
Ramella spoke again, and this time Rangella's 'Ah...' could be heard.
"It's so small, wow."
"If you don't end the call, it stays connected the whole time."
"Oh."
Ramella ended the call.
"How far does it reach?"
"Well, it reached all over the capital, so in Jewel City Lapis, I think it'll connect anywhere. But with the antenna all set up, I'm not too sure how the 'processing' is going."
"So, you want to gather testers to find out about that 'gap'?"
"That's what it's about."
"Hmmm..."
Tiaris was looking at the board curiously.
"What's wrong?"
"Well, the technology used in this board is not at a 'high level', so I'm wondering what kind of structure it has... To be honest, even a decent workshop could replicate it, Master."
"Huh, really!?"
"Yeah, but the main system that handles all the communication processing is in my room."
"How big is it..."
"It's a cube, 30 centimeters on each side."
"So tiny..."
"Also, this board doesn't use magic, right? What exactly is it using?"
"Under the main Cube, there's a 'panel golem' specialized in generating magic. Wait, what's wrong?"
"I didn't think Master had such deep knowledge about monster golems too."
Mainly, monsters have magic inside them, but in reality, it's 'increasing' inside their bodies.
Normally, Horace uses his own magic to move 'golems as magic tools', but 'golems as monsters' can increase their own magic.
He put it close, and sent magic into the main Cube.
Now, it's ready for anyone to use, through the antenna, even if they don't have magic.
He won't explain the difference between a 'magic item Golem' and a 'monster Golem'.
But, if you smash that 'panel Golem', you get gold coins.
If you break Horace's weapon, you get nothing.
"Well, when you're like me──Anyway, find some testers. Get people good at talking about how it feels."
"Okay. I'll hand them out."
Ellie said that, holding the box.
...It should be heavy, but she lifts it easy.
Pointing it out is pointless.
