Volume 3 Chapter 15 The Envoy’s Arrogance is a Mystery, but Personnel Matters Are Even More Baffling
The release of various pieces of information from the 'Great Church' in the capital of Daiparl Kingdom was enough to shake the world.
Spreading at an unstoppable pace, it eventually settled, though some places were still reeling.
"...Hah"
In the Hero's Mansion in Jewel City Lapis.
Horace was reading the newspaper, looking quite disheveled.
"...Master, you look pretty messy."
"Hey, um, what's up with all the community members returning? We've got all the disciples here, so there's no point in them acting externally anymore, right?"
"Indeed~. The hero community has about a hundred people, but almost everyone's gathered here~"
"And people are just piling in every day. Into beds where people are sleeping. And I can't resist either. Why is that?"
"That's... something that can't be helped, I suppose~"
"I see"
Horace interpreted Ulrika's "can't be helped" to mean, "The current community members are so exhausted that they can only see Horace."
As Ivan had mentioned before, there was a strong sense of dependency, a gratitude for the training Horace had given them.
This issue could only be solved with time, but that also meant the abnormal focus on Horace wouldn't end until then.
Horace was the one who trained them, and those girls went out on every Demon Lord hunt.
He knew those journeys were harsh... no, technically he could have prepared them well, but he was aware of the mental toll it took.
Horace recognized his own trait as 'irresponsible' and had no intention of changing it, but even so, he felt responsible for Rangella and the others.
"The reason master can't resist is because Tiaris found a book called 'The Secret Technique to Not Let a Guy Escape from Bed' in the Demon Lord's castle and has been studying it backwards and forwards~"
"The culprit is her, huh!? Yeah, Tiaris was the first one to come to my bed!"
Ulrika's 'nothing can be done' was not about how many people come each day.
It was about how, for some reason, Horace just can't resist.
"Huh, but still, the power of male domination is absolute. Do you, women, even need a 'technique' to keep them from running?"
"It's a hobby of the Demon Lord's──purely for fun~."
"What kind of hobby is that, Ulrika...? And honestly, the moment I think I can't escape from those guys, I get this weird, oppressive feeling in their eyes. Like they're watching me, controlling me. Is that some technique the Demon Lord made?"
"That's right──Haha~. The Demon Lord, who's obsessed with enslaving all men in the world, wrote a book called *Men Who Can't Escape*~. When Tiaris found it, she got so hyped~... While we're looting the castle after taking down the Demon Lord, Tiaris was just reading it cover to cover~."
"..."
The strict control from the hero community is strong, but it's true that Horace's involvement made it worse.
Still, it's probably no coincidence that Horace is pushing beyond what he should be able to handle.
"Master."
"Huh? What's wrong, Rangella?"
"Some folks from the organization called *Order of the Sealed Dragon* have arrived. They're demanding the Gai Gigant and Zeth Halcon's jewels."
"...Thought it'd take longer than that."
Horace let out a sigh.
"What kind of organization are they~? I've never even heard of Order of the Sealed Dragon~."
"Well, pretty simply, Ulrika... You know the Five Divine Gods worshipped by the Great Church, right? This group only worships the *God of Sealing and Liberation*──that's *their* focus. They use that power to keep dragons at bay and ensure humans, who are usually weak, don't get bullied by other races. It's basically an organization to protect the vulnerable."
"Hmm... So, it's essentially a religious group~."
"Yeah, in a way."
"But I've never heard of them befor~e. Where do they usually hang out, Rangella~?"
"Far inside the Western Mountain Range. They operate in a distinctly separate area from here. There are supposedly lots of demi-humans too... But whatever. We should just handle it for now."
With a resigned sigh at the two, Horace stood up from his chair.
