Volume 3 Chapter 30 Luster Report and Key of Pharos: Explanation
Deep within the Great Mine of the Gold World──Floor 100.
At the door to the boss room.
"This is Floor 100. Seriously... I can't stop shivering."
"There's barely any monsters near the boss room, right? But my whole body is shaking!"
"I'm getting twitchy too. Cindy, let me massage your thigh."
"Ellie, you never change."
"You need your head checked~"
"It's wild to think people usually gather metal here."
Every member (Ramella, Cindy, Ellie, Tiaris, Ulrika, Rangella) of the Luster Report was shaking in front of that door.
"I was shocked too, the first time I came here. But... you get used to it."
Only Horace stayed calm. He was suited up in Deus Ex Machina armor.
Without that, it was too dangerous to even feel safe in this place.
"And this door... I never thought it'd end up like this."
Rangella turned to the door.
It was a huge double door, thick chains wrapped around the handles, and a sheet with a magic seal stitched over it.
"So this is what's blocking us... what could be inside?"
"Normally, there's a boss here. You have to beat it to move on to the Trial Dungeon."
"Trial Dungeon?"
"Yeah. There are different kinds, but this one's for the challenge called 'Thy Name.' The right to face it is just past this door. Now, it's shut tight. Normally, no one gets in."
"Normally?"
"Right. When I left Terra Disas's 'Remnant Form' with you, I got to meet the real one. They handed me a 'Side Door Key.' The time window is small, but... with this──"
Horace, still in full armor, touched the cloth with the magic seal.
The cloth sparked and crackled, then calmed down after a few seconds.
The cloth and chains faded, turning half-transparent.
"Now's our chance. We're going in."
"Okay."
Horace opened the door, and everyone filed inside.
Horace was the last one through, pulling the door shut behind him.
The room inside was huge──a wide, domed space.
Complete silence filled the area. From deep within, someone was walking toward them.
"Welcome, I suppose. Horace."
"Sid... and Sora and Remi, huh?"
The 3 members of the Key of Pharos were all here.
"This is the same dungeon from before, right? The one where you paralyzed Sid and shut him up."
Sora said, sounding amused.
"It's been a while since I showed you around the Church, huh? Long time no see!"
Remi also sounded happy.
Honestly, standing next to Sid made them both seem surprisingly childish.
"I'm sure you have a lot to talk about... But Horace, if you have the 'key,' you should be able to pass through. Please, go ahead."
Sid said, gesturing toward the door ahead.
There didn't seem to be any traps in his expression.
"Then, I'll pass through without hesitation. You guys just take it easy."
"Hahaha! This is why it's fun to talk to people who know so much!"
Sora laughed loudly.
"M-Master, isn't this a trap?"
"Those guys are underlings of the 'God of Provisions Arzent' I want to take down, but they're not my enemies. You guys just slack off. They still need to pretend to be 'fighting here,' after all."
With that, Horace began walking.
The room was vast, and it took time to reach where Sid and the others were, but... as Horace walked closer, getting near them, and passing by...
Neither Horace nor Sid did anything to each other.
Soon, Horace opened the door ahead and entered.
"What's going on here?"
"Normally, we'd have to stop everyone, including him. But... he's fine. For now..."
Sid snapped his fingers.
A dome-like barrier appeared.
"Sorry, but could you attack the barrier? We're kind of restricted here."
"I see."
Rangella raised her hand, and mist appeared.
It spread out, lingering just at the edge of the barrier, almost touching it.
