Volume 4 Chapter 42 Interlude Of The Decisive Battle

The fortress was destroyed in a single blow.

Inside, Horace and Clim were locked in a sword fight.

Whether the fortress had a facility for infinite spawning or not, all such mechanisms were now destroyed, ensuring no new soldiers would appear in this battle.

Rangella and the others swiftly dispatched the soldiers around them, then turned their attention to Horace and Clim.

"...Is that the final boss this time?"

 "S-she's so handsome..."

 "You think so?"

 "Ellie, what do you think?"

"I prefer smooth thighs on girls aged ten to fifteen, so I'm not interested in fossils. Oops!"

A magic arrow flew past Ellie's face, prompting her to dodge with a quick headshake.

When she looked at Clim, the fingers of her swordless left hand were pointed directly at her.

"A final boss with bad habits, huh?"

"And a woman with a foul mouth..."

Clim flicked her right hand, and Horace stepped back.

"...Haa. How should I attack this?"

"Even the teacher struggles with this opponent?"

"By my standards, weak attacks—physical or magical—don't work. She has that kind of resistance. Magic is being cast from the halo on her head, and there's a thin membrane over her body."

"I see, but she defends against strong attacks himself."

 "Exactly."

It's a concept that grants benefits akin to 'specifications,' distinct from physical phenomena.

It's hard to precisely express that neither physical nor magical attacks work, but at least the rules are clear.

By the way, this is a live broadcast—connected to Sevenstar Academy's auditorium. Lucia made a questionable remark: "If neither physical nor magic works, just throw a Surströmming!" Best not to dwell on that.

"By the teacher's standards, what about weak attacks like this Ulrika and the others use~?"

 "Almost no attacks work."

 "That's unfair!"

"What are you saying now? Besides, Clim's currently using 'Deus Ex Machina' at full power, so it's impossible for us."

"So, what should we do... honestly, now that the fortress is destroyed, there are no more endlessly spawning monsters."

As Ulrika, Ellie, Cindy, Ramella, Nousa discussed this...

 "Then, fight this guy."

Clim snapped her fingers, and a magic circle appeared in the sky.

From within it emerged a dragon.

The dragon was green, standing ten meters tall on its hind legs, with well-developed arms.

"'Magic Cannon Dragon Ygg Shiris'... the guardian dragon of the 'Tree Kingdom Alba,' huh?"

"I gave its corpse temporary life. Try fighting it."

As Clim spoke, Ygg Shiris unleashed a breath attack.

Rangella swung her sword horizontally, dispersing the attack.

"Hmm... I see. We can handle this much, at least."

 "Then, I'll fight Clim."

Horace reassumed his sword stance and charged.

He swung his sword at Clim, who blocked it with his own blade.

"Heh, not being able to go all out is troublesome. That live stream... it must be consuming a lot of resources. You can't fight at full strength in that state."

 "Tch."

Normally, magic cannot pass between the inside and outside of a dungeon.

The only exception is when internal magic becomes unstable and is expelled outward.

This typically happens during a 'monster stampede,' when too much magic accumulates inside.

However, one of the materials Horace uses for Deus Ex Machina—'Calamityshade Dragon Terra Disas'—would normally cause a disaster just by existing.

He controls this, using a filthy curse to move it from the dungeon to the outside while simultaneously employing Communication Magic.

No method has been established to automate this entire process with a single magic tool, so it's still controlled in real-time.

In this state, one cannot say they're fighting at full strength.

"Well, that's fine. I don't intend to go all out here. I'm just here to play around using the 'contract.'"

 "Contract?"

 "That's for later."

 "I see."

Horace exerted force as if to repel, and this time Clim stepped back.

Seeing this, Horace removed a small, three-centimeter cube from his left waist and fitted it into his sword's guard.

The tube at the sword's tip then separated and connected to various parts of his armor.

"Is that your full strength now?"

 "Yeah... I suppose so."

"You're quite hesitant. Well, it doesn't matter. Expecting clear explanations from a Golem Master with many hidden tricks only cools the mood more."

Clim extended her left hand, and a pitch-black sword appeared.

"This is 'Dark Matter, the Magic Sword'... you understand if I say it's the 'Key of the Magic Sword Duke,' right?"

 "No way..."

 "Dark Matter. Contract begins."

As Clim declared, black magical power poured out from the sword and enveloped him.

A few seconds later, when the magic cleared, Clim's wings had turned black, and her aureole had vanished.

Her pure white dress now featured black accents in various places.

"This is essentially a combination of angelic and demonic power... though, in my case, the high specs are just unused potential. Even when using both simultaneously, the power doesn't interfere."

"'Sword Emperor of Heaven and Hell'... huh."

"Overwhelming resources from the sacred sword Yggdrasil. The power of the seraphs and the Magic Sword Duke. Can anything oppose this? Try it if you dare."

The two swords clashed fiercely once more.
