Volume 6 Chapter 91 The Strong Character Feeling of the Sword is Probably Universal
I still remember that day.
The stench of the battlefield lingers.
The sky darkening.
The taste of sand that filled my mouth when I fell.
The maddening silence of the battlefield.
And... the readiness to die.
Choosing to stand firm against a figure perched atop a lofty height, I accepted the end of my brief life.
Such was the sheer magnitude and strength of the presence before me.
It was an existence that had reached the zenith of 'reason.'
Then, what could have overwhelmed such a being?
It's often said that dragons are defined as 'beyond reason.'
With long lives, carrying memories in their souls, causing natural disasters, and transcending dimensions.
They are truly beings that surpass the logic of our world.
Even though he may not be such an existence, there's one thing I can say for certain: his strength was undoubtedly 'beyond reason.'
Beyond reason.
In all my years, I have yet to find the words to describe someone who reaches that level in human form.

Beneath the dark sky, 2 fighting spirits clashed.
Lionel made the first move.
Striding forward from a distance, Lionel thrust his halberd.
The massive tip hurtled towards Alan at high speed.
Alan met the oncoming halberd with his left hand, forcing it away with a strong push from the handle of his sword.
The flowing tassel.
Lionel tried to grasp it, sliding his left hand towards the tip.
The flowing tassel stopped, but by then, the distance was already for the sword.
The sword that was drawn while still in its sheath, protruding from his waist.
The sheath alone shot back to his waist at high speed, leaving the blade in Alan's right hand.
A lightning-fast draw.
Lionel stamped his foot down on the extending white blade, pulling back his chin.
The sword Alan released.
Its edge grazed the tip of Lionel's nose.
──He dodged it.
As Lionel pulled back his halberd to split Alan from behind, Alan used the momentum of his sword draw to deliver a powerful side kick into Lionel's body.
The large body thundered as it was blown away.
In the moment they clashed, Lionel was sent flying with great force.
That's how it seemed to Cedric and the others.
In this place, there is no one who can fully understand their battle from start to finish.
Just when it seemed like Lionel had struck, he was sent flying, and before anyone knew it, Alan had drawn his sword.
Cedric and the others were left utterly dumbfounded by the unbelievable turn of events, but Alan calmly sheathed his sword.
"What's the matter? No need to hold back now."
"You too!"
Lionel, his voice cracking through the dust, shattered the silence and charged at Alan once more.
He swung the halberd he'd been carrying over his shoulder with full force.
Alan evaded the lightning-fast strike by swiftly moving his body aside.
Even so, the earth-shaking blow still left no room for Alan to counterattack.
Alan clicked his tongue at the trembling ground beneath him and leaped back, putting some distance between himself and Lionel.
He took a large step back.
As Alan hung in the air, Lionel launched a counterattack, barreling toward him.
This time, it wasn't the halberd──it was a simple tackle, with Lionel thrusting his left shoulder forward.
But with Lionel's massive frame, speed, and heavy armor, that simple move became a crushing force coming at him like a speeding hunk of iron.
A giant mass of iron rushed toward Alan in close quarters, with no room for escape in mid-air.
Alan pushed the hilt of his sword, still in its sheath, against the incoming force with his left hand.
The impact sent Alan flying backward with tremendous force.
However, when he landed, his feet merely slid along the ground──no real damage done.
"A tackle that intense? My wife and kids are more than enough for me, thanks."
Smiling, Alan brushed the dirt off, then made a wry face and added, "Well... there's one person I wouldn't mind avoiding, though."
"Impressive. That kick earlier, and now this──your martial skills have grown way beyond your swordsmanship."
Lionel laughed, and Alan gave a bitter smile in return.
In truth, Alan had absorbed Lionel's earlier tackle by using the distance of the drawn sheath, cushioning the impact with his shoulder, elbow, and wrist.
"Had to, didn't I?"
Like Rolf and Lionel, Randy also fights with his powerful build, but he's also skilled in the art of soft techniques, thanks to his past life knowledge and Keith's guidance.
Of course, Alan still holds the upper hand, but Randy's ability to blend both hard and soft martial arts has reached a level that even Alan finds impressive.
"Seems like the only way I'm going to beat you is by sheer strength...!"
With a powerful leap, Lionel's feet cracked the ground as he charged at Alan.
With the massive halberd held at the ready, Lionel swung it in a sweeping arc, his foot stamping down with enough force to split the earth.
Alan leaped into the air to dodge the incoming blade.
As he hovered in midair, a blade of wind, as sharp as a sickle, sliced through the space where his feet had been moments before.
The force of Lionel's strike created a wind blade──a physical manifestation of the power behind it.
It was a technique beyond human ability, yet Lionel continued to unleash it, one strike after another.
It was like a violent storm.
Alan dodged every attack, each one narrowly avoided, as if dancing on the edge of death.
But then... the sky suddenly brightened.
The light from the moon, now overshadowed by the sun, momentarily blinded Alan.
In that instant, Lionel's deadly strike came crashing down.
It seemed like the blow was surely going to land, but Alan twisted his body and narrowly evaded it.
At the same time, with his sword's hilt, he drove the shaft of Lionel's halberd down, pinning it from above.
The already fast attack gained even more speed.
No... it was forced to accelerate.
Lionel's body shifted slightly forward──
The blade of Lionel's weapon struck the ground with a tremor.
But by then, Alan's feet were no longer on the ground.
Using the hilt he'd pinned as leverage, Alan sprang into the air, twisting his body mid-flight to deliver a spinning back kick to Lionel's left side.
The added force from the accelerated blow caused Lionel to tilt slightly, and Alan's left heel caught him squarely on the left cheek.
But Alan didn't stop there.
He pulled his left heel back, twisting his hips as he jumped again, landing a right roundhouse kick.
Lionel, struck again on the left cheek, staggered slightly.
In that instant, Alan landed.
Without hesitation, he leapt once more, grabbing Lionel's head and driving his right knee into it.
The knee smashed into Lionel's face, crushing his nose, sending blood and saliva spraying into the air.
As Alan landed once again, he stepped in and thrust his sword's hilt directly at Lionel's gut.
