Volume 6 Chapter 95-2 I Really Wanted to Use the Previous Title 'Unmitigated Evil' Because It Sounds Cool...

The tips of Randy's long hair melted.

Parts of his coat and sleeves dissolved too.

Still, he kept dodging the never-ending rain of tears.

Finally, when the goddess's wailing stopped, the magic circle, the heart of the blast, was a total mess.

 Only Randy stood.

The other zombie soldiers? Most of their bodies were gone, barely even existing anymore.

Randy was in the same boat.

His clothes were mostly melted, and parts of his upper arm and calf were gone too.

But hey, at least he was still standing.

The other zombie soldiers were nothing but scraps.

 Randy panted, glaring at Lamentaria.

The goddess's form and the magic circle faded.

The rift in the sky vanished... and at the same time, the zombie soldiers couldn't hold their form anymore, dissolving into mist.

Blood gushed from Randy's arm and calf, ripped apart like a giant beast had taken a bite.

Pain exploded, and his body felt wrong.

Randy used his greatsword as a cane, somehow staying on his feet.

 He lifted his head.

'To think you'd survive (Lament Eschaton)... But your body won't move.'

But then, Lamentaria's eyes widened in surprise.

 "Too bad," Randy grinned.

 "I just hate losing."

 Randy crouched.

Blood sprayed from his calf, but he ignored it, resting his greatsword on his shoulder with one hand.

 "I ain't dyin' until I kill you."

Randy's foot slammed into the ground.

 Lamentaria panicked, teleporting short distance.

She probably thought her magical power barrier wouldn't work.

 But Randy saw it coming.

He planted his foot and twisted his body.

More blood gushed out, but he ignored it, flinging his greatsword.

The greatsword flew at high speed.

 And there was Lamentaria.

Lamentaria noticed the approaching blade and teleported away.

But──Randy was already leaping towards the heart of the magical power's bond.

Faster than Lamentaria could appear, Randy's greatsword materialized in his left hand with a shout of "Come on!"

He swung it towards the empty air.

 Then Lamentaria appeared.

With a precise timing, Randy's greatsword sliced the creature clean in half, top to bottom.

 A full-force strike.

Without a thought for landing, Randy was thrown to the ground with the momentum of his swing.

 'Aaaaaaagggghhhhh!'

The echoes of the scream mixed with the dark mist spraying out from the severed halves.

 'You... you fiend──'

Lamentaria reached out towards Randy... but unable to maintain her form, her body crumbled, until finally, only the fingertips stretching towards Randy remained before it vanished.

"...Phew. Managed to make that look good, huh."

Randy let out a pained laugh as he was thrown to the ground, his body then enveloped in a gentle, faint light.

It was Holy Magic at work──when Randy looked up, he saw Ellie's stunned face and Liz's worried expression.

 "You awake?"

"Messing around like that, you'd better be."

With a sigh, Ellie once again wrapped Randy in Holy Magic.

His lost muscle tissue began to regenerate.

 "Impressive."

 "Just shifted some flesh around,"

"Think you might've lost a bit of weight?"

Randy dropped his shoulders but then switched his thoughts to training and eating more.

 "Randy..."

 "Liz──"

They locked eyes and exchanged a high-five with smiles.

They knew without saying that their concern and apologies were not needed here.

The two then turned to Ellie, still high-fiving, and raised their other hands towards her.

 "Heave-ho!"

Copying Randy's cheerful smile, Liz also raised her voice playfully with a "Heave-ho!"

 "These 2 are hopeless."

Ellie, still smiling, gently placed her hands over Randy and Liz's, her eyes shining with warmth.

With a triumphant high-five shared among the 3, Randy finally straightened up and said, "Guess we're really moving forward now."

"From here on, it's a new beginning."

As Randy carefully cradled Liz and Ellie, their cheeks flushed──though...

 "Oh? Oh, my?"

Maybe it was too much blood lost, or maybe the shock──Randy suddenly swayed and fell backward, still holding the two close.

Even as he fell, Randy's gentle support kept them safe, so neither of the girls was hurt.

The moment Randy tipped over, Liz and Ellie instinctively called out, both worried at once: "Randy!"

 "Hahaha──"

Hearing their voices together, Randy couldn't help but laugh ── he'd been waiting for this for so long, from the bottom of his heart.

"W-What are you laughing at?! You suddenly collapse, and I got so worried..."

"That's right. I was about to──wait, did I hit your head again?!"

"Sorry, sorry, you two. I just got a little too happy."

Smiling softly, Randy embraced Liz and Ellie once more, even as he lay on his back.

The two girls, cheeks blazing, stammered, "Hey... wait... don't──"

"Anyway... welcome back, Ellie. Let's keep moving forward from here, okay?"
