Volume 1 Chapter 59 My First Battle
Cain missed morning practice because he overslept, but at least he managed to wake up for breakfast.
Arthur and Chris also overslept for breakfast and got an earful from Lydia.
After breakfast, Cain was in the training ground, learning about [Mana Control] from Benjamin.
"Elder Brother Ben, I'm trying to level up my [Mana Control] by experimenting, but it's not working. Can you help me out?"
"Sure, no problem. What exactly are you struggling with? What part do you need help understanding?"
"Well, right now, I'm trying to make 2 [Mana] balls while keeping them in 'Circulation,' but they keep sticking together while circulating."
"Huh, interesting. Show me what you're doing."
Cain nodded, then started the "Circulation." At first, the [Mana] balls stayed separate, but soon they drifted closer and stuck together.
"What's the goal of this training? Moving multiple [Mana] balls? Or controlling them separately?"
"Oh, I see! It's tough because I'm trying to do both at once! I'll focus on moving multiple [Mana] balls first. I'll create 2 [Mana] balls and keep a fixed distance between them while circulating them."
Cain spent a while making the two [Mana] balls rotate around each other, keeping a small gap, like a train going in circles.
"I did it! It worked!"
Benjamin nodded, a satisfied look on his face.
As Benjamin and Cain were happily training together... suddenly!
The bell on the watchtower rang out, clanging loudly.
"What's going on? Elder Brother Ben?"
"Is this your first time hearing it, Cain? This bell rings when monsters from the Great Deep Forest are approaching. We need to head back to the mansion."
As they entered the mansion, Chris came running toward them.
"Elder Brother Ben, Father said to gather in the meeting room."
Benjamin nodded and headed toward the meeting room.
"Cain, come along," he said, and Cain followed.
Inside the meeting room, Luke, Lydia, and the other main members of the Sanroze family had gathered.
"Knight Captain Argyle, report."
Luke gave orders to the knight captain.
"Sir, we received an emergency signal via smoke signal from one of our regular patrol teams. The report: over 500 monsters, within 3 hours."
This was a method created to patrol the Great Deep Forest and report any dangers as quickly as possible, using colors to indicate the threat, number, and distance to the nearest town or street.
"What! 500 of them, are you sure?"
"Yes, multiple people have confirmed, Sir. There's no mistake."
"How many soldiers can we mobilize right now?"
"About 300, including reserves that would make it around 350."
"They outnumber us 1.5 to one..."
Luke pondered the situation.
"Father! Look at me, we just need to take down 2 with one hit each. It's no big deal."
Arthur encouraged Luke with a confident demeanor.
Everyone's spirits lifted upon hearing his words.
"That's right, we've faced worse before. This is nothing we can't handle together!"
As Luke declared this, everyone's determination rose.
Afterward, Luke conferred with the knight captain and Randolph, issuing instruction after instruction.
Having given the final orders, he came to where the children were.
"You lot, I'm counting on you, Lydia, Alice, and the people!"
"What are you saying? Father, and Captain, you should remain here to lead. That's why I've been sent to the academy and the royal knights. Please leave it to me."
"We'll carry out a raid with about 10 knights. We won't be joining the main formation directly. Please order us accordingly."
"Understood, you two! Argyle, Incorporate Arthur's group into the third unit. Don't overdo it, you guys. Benjamin, Cain, I'm counting on you."
"Yes, I understand."
Hey, can I go to the battlefield too?
