Volume 2 Chapter 52 Let's Make Magic Tools! IV
Lately, Cain has been spending time making a [daily magic] magic tool for Alice. He wants to make her comfortable during travel and school, so he's creating tools for [light], [hot water], and [ignition]. He's making a short rod about 20 cm long, with help from Barvish, using Randolph's [Magnifying Glass] magic tool as a reference. The materials were bought by Alice on her shopping trips.
"Sir Cain, what design should we use for the [light] rod? It would be easier to make if you have some reference, like a design sketch."
"Well, for the [light] rod, let's make the handle cylindrical with a small ring at the tip. The material should be Magic Iron."
"I'm nervous, what about the [hot water] and [ignition]?"
"Right, for the [hot water], let's do a square column with a sphere at the tip. For the [ignition], a hexagonal column with a flame-like tip, please."
"We'll be able to tell them apart by the handle and tip shapes. That's a good idea. We won't make a mistake even in the dark."
Cain left the rod shapes to Barvish and worked on improving the [magic circle] for [hot water]. Considering travel and daily life, he thought it would be better to have both water and hot water. For the past few days, he's been analyzing the magic word rules and syntax in the [magic circle].
The [hot water] created by the Hero changed water into 100-degree hot water in 2 steps. Cain was trying to improve the [magic circle] to either allow selecting temperatures other than 100 degrees or to add a conditional statement for producing water around 5 degrees.
"Finally, it's done! In the end, I couldn't make it adjustable for temperature, but the image is simple, which might be good."
He decided to use [hot water] for hot water and [cold water] for regular water when the tool produces them.
"Sir Cain, this is amazing. You even managed to improve that Hero's [daily magic]."
Barvish was impressed as he watched the [hot water] improved by Barvish's [magic circle] creating hot water and regular water.
"It's not that great. It's thanks to these [Analysis] glasses and my [Skill]. I can be proud of [Skills] I've thought of and trained for. But I think Barvish is more amazing for making the shape just from those vague instructions."
"You're too humble," Barvish mumbled, feeling embarrassed by the praise.
"The magic stone used for each should last about 2 years if you use an orc's magic stone fully charged with Mana. I can send new rods every year, or I can give them to you when you return. I'd like to know about any improvements, so I'll ask you to write it down in a letter."
Cain muttered to himself while transcribing each [magic circle] onto the magic stones with [Magic Circle Transcription].
"Sir Cain, have you reported the creation of this magic tool to His Excellency Sanroze? If it's after the fact, he might get angry, you know?"
"Ah, I totally forgot! I need to explain it before dinner!"
Barvish shook his head, thinking, "Good grief," as he watched his master.
By the way, Cain had reported the magic tool before it was completed, but he still got a thorough scolding from Luke for not consulting him before making it.

Between Alice's shopping and magic tool creation, Cain also went to visit the monster handlers, Nana and Tony. The purpose was to check on them and prepare to prove their usefulness to Luke.
"Nana, Tony, how have you been?"
Cain called out to the two, who were taking care of Cowcowbull's Hanako. They were so surprised that they jumped a little and turned toward the sound.
"Sir Cain, you've returned. We're sorry for not coming to greet you first."
Nana stopped her work and came to apologize.
"Cain-sama, welcome back, I humbly say."
Tony replied with strange, polite language.
"Both of you seem well. Sorry for interrupting your work. Are you okay? By the way, can I have some of Hanako's milk again? Tony, you don't have to be so polite just with me."
Cain handed over something like a bottle made with [Earth magic] while talking.
"That won't do. At least while I'm living in the mansion, I must speak properly. Otherwise, it would be a bother to Gardy-san."
Nana hurriedly held Tony back and advised him.
"Hmmm, I understand. Should we leave that to Gardy? I want to make butter again. How much milk does Hanako produce in a day?"
Tony changed the subject from the way of speaking.
"About 20 liters, excluding the children's share, I suppose?"
"Is that enough for the mansion's use? The chef might come to collect it later, so please. I'll come with Gardy again later."
He filled a bottle with milk and headed towards the mansion's kitchen.
