Volume 3 Chapter 16 Town Wall Expansion II

"Alright, let's begin the meeting on the expansion of the town wall."

Luke declared the start of the meeting with a hint of excitement.

 """Yes!"""

Unanimous agreement came from all participants.

"Then, let's review the basic plan we've outlined so far. The expansion area will be double the current size, extending in the opposite direction of the Great Deep Forest. The new town will have two main roads instead of one, positioned in the center..."

Randolph read out the details of the expansion plan.

"...That's all. Do any of the directors have additional proposals or suggestions?"

After finishing, Randolph asked the directors.

Several participants raised their hands in response.

"Then, from the Head of the Maintenance Bureau."

"Thank you. The Maintenance Bureau proposes adding a 'rest area' square between the two main roads, surrounded by food stalls and shops selling light meals."

The nominated Head of the Maintenance Bureau presented their proposal.

"Hmph. Why specifically a 'rest area square'?"

 Luke questioned the Chief.

"Yes, with the expansion, there'll inevitably be friction between residents of the new and current town areas. We aim to create a space for interaction by using the square for events like harvest festivals and administrative announcements."

Participants voiced agreement: "Oh, that's a good idea" and "Certainly."

"Next, the Head of the Provisions Bureau."

Randolph waited for the consensus to settle before calling on the next speaker.

"Thank you. The Provisions Bureau proposes establishing farmland and a [missing translation] within the expanded town wall, considering the recent monster invasions from the Great Forest. For the [missing translation], we plan to raise Cowcowbulls for dairy farming."

"We understand the farmland proposal, but isn't raising monsters like Cowcowbulls inside the town dangerous?"

Concerned voices arose from the Argyle Knights.

"For safety, we'll construct stone fences and hire new monster tamers to control the Cowcowbulls. The Sanroze family's tamers already have a successful track record with them."

With a proven example, participants seemed convinced.

"Next, the Head of the Civil Affairs Bureau."

 Randolph continued the meeting.

"Yes, the Civil Affairs Bureau proposes preferential treatment for merchants relocating from the current to the new town. We suggest 5 years of tax incentives and financial assistance for the move."

"Hm, it's a good proposal, but I'd like a detailed plan for fund recovery. Randolph, schedule a report meeting for tomorrow."

 "Understood."

 Randolph promptly acknowledged Luke's instruction.

 "Anything else?"

 Cain raised his hand energetically.

 "Then, Sir Cain, please."

"Thank you, Randolph. I propose two additions: 'sewer installation' and 'street lighting.'"

 Cain spoke confidently.
