Volume 3 Chapter 17 Town Wall Expansion III

"Cain, I understand about the 'sewer installation' since I've heard about it before, but this is the first time I've heard about the 'street lighting.' Could you explain the details?"

Luke asked Cain for an explanation of the proposal.

"Yes, the other day I saw the street lighting installed in the town of the Shield frontier outpost, and I thought it would be great to have the same here in Sanroze."

 "I see."

Perhaps recalling that scene or imagining Sanroze's streets, Luke nodded deeply.

"However, the unfortunate thing was that the shapes of the street lighting were all different and lacked a sense of unity. In our Sanroze, I thought installing unified street lighting would make it look even more beautiful."

Cain explained with a confident smile.

 "But that would require funds..."

Luke murmured, making a grim face.

"Regarding that, I have an idea. Using magic tools to create street lighting would require considerable funding, but if we only set up exterior lights with the [Light] spell from daily magic, the cost could be significantly reduced. By the way, I'll make the magic tool for the [Light], so please rest assured."

"Hmm, alright. Do a rough calculation once. Randolph, please."

 "Understood."

 Randolph responded to Luke's request.

"Then, are there any additional proposals? Sir Luke, please make your decision."

"Hmm, I think each one is very good. I'd like to add it to the town wall expansion plan. Randolph, let's work on the plan together. Cain, please create a model with the expansion plan added, like the town model you made previously."

"Yes, understood. I'll create it on this table."

Cain stood up from his seat and began solidifying the image of the town by starting [ManaCirculation].

 "[Create Clay]"

Cain chanted the spell and spread his hands over the conference room table. The table's surface glowed, and a clay model of the town expanded outward from the center, starting with the current layout of Sanroze, followed by the expanding town walls rising from the edges.

The town walls gently curved as they were created and connected to the existing walls. Finally, the two main roads proposed earlier were formed, and the light disappeared.

 """Ohhh"""

A murmur of awe rose from the participants.

"Sorry to keep you waiting. Please let me know if there are any corrections you'd like made. I'll fix them."

 Cain announced the completion.

The participants stood up from their seats and began discussing in groups while looking at the documents and the model they had created. Cain stood up and went to Randolph's side.

"Randolph, got a minute? I'd like to talk about something."

 "What is it, Sir Cain?"

"Yeah, I've been thinking. I believe we can reduce the budget if I make the town walls with magic, but I'm worried we might be taking away work from the Mason Guild. And also, the economy that should be moving..."

Cain spoke, slightly bowing his head.

"Sir Cain... you're truly kind and considerate. As policymakers, we'd be happy to expand the town on a low budget. But you're not only thinking about that—you're also considering the economic effects of the expenses paid to the Mason Guild. It's exciting for the future."

 Randolph replied with great joy.

"It's alright. As we did with the fort construction last time, we'll ask you to handle the foundation, but we'll still request the Mason Guild to build the watchtowers on top of the walls as usual. So, the work of creating the town walls won't disappear."

Randolph pointed to the new town section of the model.

"Besides, after the town walls are completed, there will be construction work within the town, so we estimate it will be fine. If the construction period is shorter, more settlers will come earlier, and we expect rapid economic growth."

 "Good. I'm relieved."

Cain smiled slightly upon hearing Randolph's words.

"Sir Cain, excuse me. May I ask a favor?"

The Head of the Maintenance Bureau called out, waiting for the conversation with Randolph to end.

 "What is it? A revision?"

"Yes, I'd like you to create a new government building in the new town."

 "Sure. Where?"

Cain added a new government building as requested and continued making additions and revisions while responding to each department's requests.

 "Is there anything else?"

When Cain had met all the requests and finished creating the new town, everyone nodded in agreement.

"Can this really be done?" "It's wonderful!" "I'm excited!"

The participants shared their impressions while looking at the expected completion model of the new town.

"Everyone, once it's completed, Sanroze will become an even better town and continue to develop. I want to make this a place where all residents can live with smiles and peace of mind. Please lend me your strength."

Luke declared, looking at all the participants.

 """Yes!"""

A strong response came back from everyone.

Cain felt very happy, knowing Sanroze was going to become an even better place.
