Volume 1 Chapter 7 Genderbend Female Knight, Handover Work To The Magistrate

"Here is the ledger, and this bag contains one gold coin and 37 silver coins for village operations."

"Understood, Knight Deputy. I've received it."

The man, likely in his early 40s, was a gaunt figure sent from the royal capital as the Kamitafira Territory's Deputy Official. He was a cloth noble—a noble who received direct stipends from the king for paperwork at the palace without holding any land. His name was Salvatorre di Pucaa, a Baron. When he took on the deputy official duties, his family moved here after receiving a letter, around the end of the year, when all the Suno people's houses were nearly finished.

He mentioned it was a good opportunity for his eldest son to gain experience. The Baron primarily handled the tasks, but his eldest son assisted to learn the work. Additionally, his younger son was somewhat frail and needed to build strength in the countryside.

"The Suno soldiers will be led by former clan chief Erik. Your Excellency only needs to give rough instructions; he'll handle the details."

"Well, I'm grateful. I have no experience in military service, so having experts helps a lot."

"Your Excellency has no soldiers either, so it can't be helped. They'll conduct night patrols in the three villages every night and drive off boars if they damage the fields."

"Yes, I understand. I'll meet Erik later."

Baron Pucaa was far more decent than the officials Eleonora had expected, which relieved her. However, she was uneasy because court politics were notoriously intense. What worried her most was whether the rough Suno people and John would look down on the Baron.

John and the others would likely be fine; they'd flatter the nobles and obey the Baron, regardless of their true feelings. But the Suno people were different. They prided themselves on following the strong, and since they acknowledged Erik—the strongest warrior who had defeated Eleonora in a duel—they would only accept someone equally strong. Men who had never fought in combat were considered the lowest in their eyes.

"I'll step in for him a little. He's quite a provocative person, so he may not get along well with the Baron."

"Hmm, is that so? Then I'll go along with that."

The Baron, unaware of this, lightly accepted. It was obvious he'd struggle after Eleonora left, but she didn't care—it wasn't her problem. She just wanted to avoid causing trouble in the territory's affairs, so she was being minimally considerate.

"By the way, which faculty is the knight's substitute attending at the academy?"

"He's enrolled in the Knight Department."

"I see. I was in the Official Department. It brings back good memories."

Polina Sacred Light Academy had five specialized departments: Knight, Official, Business, Theology, and Magic. Students submitted their preferences before enrollment and were assigned accordingly.

 "So, when will you depart?"

"After the new year. Before spring enrollment, there are uniforms and books I need to buy there, so I'll go early."

"Hmm, then Madam Carmen's shop would be best for uniforms. It's a long-standing shop with good quality."

Their friendly advice showed the Baron had become somewhat familiar. He even mentioned the name of the store to buy uniforms, his eyes kindly squinting as he looked toward the young people heading to school. Still, because of the height difference, the Baron was looking up at Eleonora.

"Thank you. During my absence, please feel free to use the mansion. The village helpers will return around dusk, so I'll reheat the prepared dinner, but..."

"Oh, I can manage that much, so don't worry. My wife is here, so I won't collapse easily."

The Baron laughed, "Haha." As long as there were no problems, that was fine. Since he said he was okay, they could only trust him.

(When he returns, if the Baron family's heads are displayed in front of the mansion, that would be no joke... Please, everyone, hold back.)
