Volume 5 Chapter 43 Escape
The epic showdown between the Great Hero and the Demon King is reaching its climax.
The Hero's blade slices deep, hacking away at the very flesh of the Demon King.
Panic sets in for the Demon King; if this continues, he'll be reduced to dust and vanish.
With every blow, his form splinters apart.
Yet with each severance, the sense of self tied to his physical body grows fainter.
In other words, the smaller he becomes, the more his individuality fades.
His body shrinks gradually,
teetering on the brink of annihilation...
And in that moment, Dostoevsky makes a critical decision.
He braces himself,
"Hmph!"
Hummm...!
Suddenly, Dostoevsky's body blazes with light!
BOOOOM!
"WHAT THE HELL?! Is that a self-destruct?!"
As Ulgar gasps in shock, the magician Eli shakes his head.
"NO! It's a retreat! The self-destruct was a BLUFF!"
He detonates a part of himself──not simply splitting, but exploding.
This shatters him even further.
If he shrinks too much, he'll lose himself entirely.
So, before the explosion, he issues a single command to his cells.
It's to shatter into particles so small they can't be seen, then reassemble.
Amidst the dissipating self, Dostoevsky feels a surge of frustration as he flees.
──Enjoy your victory for now, humanity.
──But mark my words, I WILL RETURN for my vengeance...!
"NO WAY!" "I won't let you!"
Eli, the magician, casts a binding magic.
Luna, the healer, supports him with her spells.
With their final ounce of strength, they weave a barrier, encircling the area like a cage.
"This is MADNESS...! How did you figure it out?!"
While the incredulous Dostoevsky gapes, Eli smirks.
In his hand, he holds a magical tool.
'Your shallow plan was completely TRANSPARENT to me.'
"Th-that voice...!"
As the explosion strips away the remnants of his self,
he refuses to let go of that voice.
"Act... AGE!"
'Struggling a bit there, aren't you, DOSTOEVSKY?'
Yes, the moment Amou stopped supplying magic, it meant Act had won.
Act, having dealt with the situation, uses the Communication Magic Item to direct Eli.
"Of course, you'd be the coward to self-destruct and MAKE YOUR ESCAPE. You gave the order to Eli and the others, didn't you?"
"D-Damn it... damn it all..."
To be interrupted by this villainous Guildmaster right up to the very end...
'It's been a long time coming. But finally... it's OVER.'
